Good Morning Thursday 12th February 2026
(39 Posts)Good morning from the usual damp Bristol.
FAB cafe was well, attended with 17 punters, many after the new t’ai chi class which , in turn, had attracted 16.
In the afternoon, the book group was successful. I had indirectly chosen the book, by Jojo Moyes. Even the men liked it, although we all agreed that the ending was rushed and too neat.
Today, t’ai chi. I’m not going to DD’s this evening as she is in London at the General Synod, and it’s too much for SiL.
💐 to fgt, md’s family and all, those with mountains to climb.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Malta where it has rained overnight and looks as though it is going to be a wet day. We need rain but of course it always happens when I have just cleaned my car!
I’ve got DD3’s little dog today as their cleaner is there. It looks as though we won’t be getting our usual long walk if it means a soaking.
Winston is not going to be a happy puss today and will likely remain in the bedroom away from the dog. They do not get along!
Hoping you all have a good day.🤗
Good morning from the Essex coast.
I've had a dreadful night, been awake since 2.30 with thoughts going round and round.
DH saw the surgeon who did his eye operation yesterday and it's healing well. He has to go back in two weeks.
We have a new broadband being installed this morning so we need to be up and dressed sharpish.
Enjoy the day everyone, best wishes to all xx
Good morning, a sodden spot in South Glos here where we did actually have 20 minutes of weak sunshine yesterday afternoon.
I took tiddler to the vet for her annual vaccinations and checkup, she passed with flying colours, bless her.
I did a bit more to my shawl while watching Banjo and Ro’s Hebridean renovation on iPlayer. Very easy watching and beautiful scenery.
This is the yarn I’m using for the shawl, it is lovely to work with ans I also have some more yarn in my sizeable stash for another one. It makes a nice change from crocheting throws 😊
Off to the hairdresser late morning, then a peaceful afternoon I hope.
Tomorrow DH is going to his sister’s for lunch, I have art group so today I need to prep a casserole or something for me so it’s ready when I get back at lunchtime tomorrow.
Wishing you all a lovely day 🌹
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I think I’ll have a dressing gown/sofa day. I didn’t feel too good yesterday although I managed to go out for lunch. I went downhill after we got home and I was in bed by 8 pm. So this morning I feel quite hideous.
I hope the rest of you have a good day.
MaryD and the FGT2S 🌹
Odd, it won’t post the photo.
The yarn is Sirdar Jewelspun Aran in the granite colour way x
Good morning from a rainy Torbay where we had some welcome sunny periods yesterday.
I hope a restful day puts you on the road to recovery, Ladyleftfieldlover.
We hope to go out for lunch to be out of the way of the cleaner.
Hope today brings something to make you smile, especially those with unwell relatives. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and looks damp. Colder too; one forecast this morning is for snow
.
Yesterday’s writers group session was fun, though more discussion and reading than writing. There were a few more of us at the table. I came home and had a long chat on the phone with GS; wished him a happy birthday. In the evening, DS rang to see how I was, but I think he mostly wanted to get some work stuff off his chest. He will be here on Sunday all being well.
I’m debating whether to go out with the walking group this morning. The woods will be very mucky and I suspect paths may be flooded. I might go to the gym instead and then go on to see DD.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from Kent So nice to wake up and it isn't dark outside.
Yesterday I spent some time sewing up a couple of knitted pieces - a doll's skirt and a piece for the knitted nativity project. Sewing up is not my strong point. They look messy but they function.
I shall probably go to the gym today and do some gentle cycling. Still too muddy to dig.
Wishing all a happy day.
Morning all! Still damp here on the central south coast but slowly getting lighter in the mornings.
Choir was difficult last night with the return of a sad MD. She is not a bringer of joy at the best of times and is reluctant to open to any suggestions or to change her set routine. After the uplifting sessions we have enjoyed with the stand-in during her recent absence, there was a palpable lack of energy in the room and an anxiety to finish the session. I did not sleep well, wondering where this is going. I fear there may be an exodus of some of us older members.
Today it's WI and hopefully we have a decent speaker. Some are better communicators than others!
Thinking of all our GNs with struggles of any kind and hoping for a better day where needed.
Good morning from Sheffield
Getting fed up with this constant rain. It’s so depressing
I am determined to get out at lunchtime for a walk
We are going into town to see 70s music show. It looks very good, great reviews. I should know all the songs. How is it that I can remember all the words but I can’t recall what shopping I need without a list!
Family are coming for tea but they will have to vacate the building by 6.45, they won’t mind
Take care everyone
Good morning all from North Leicestershire. It seems chilly here.
Up before the crack of dawn this morning as a man is coming to look at the dishwasher between 7 and 8.30.
The dishwasher is 12 tears old but I hope it can be mended as we have DD2 and co here for the weekend!!
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a chilly, dark but so far dry morning in North Yorkshire. It never rains but it pours, as the saying goes, Well that seems to be the truth of it in more ways than one.
Yesterday was a horrible day here for weather. I had managed to do some washing and had hoped to put it out for a little while at some point in day. No chance, it rained all day, not a heavy downpour but that mizzling constant cold rain that seems to get through all your clothing. It was very cold and although I kept looking to see if I could get out to the market or whatever, it never improved and I spent the total day inside, feeling very cooped up.
I managed to do quite a few jobs but at a snails pace, but at least wasnt coughing so badly, which was an improvement. Still no success on the glasses front, and my list of small but important jobs I was making for Jessie for today grew longer , especially in the opening things bit, where having had a major onslaught with various tools and cloths etc etc, I have added two more lids that I cant get off to the list of things I needed her to come to the rescue with.
I was so very slow starting the day off that breakfast became more of a brunch, and so then later made dinner early, so that I was able to eat and then get washed up and things put away. My plan was to go to the whist drive, but still feeling very weary and didnt want to come back to a mess, I wouldnt feel up to sorting later.
The plan worked, and although it seemed a huge effort to get myself ready and sorted, with a change of tops for a light cotton one, as the hall with everyone there, always warms up a lot, I managed to get there in good time, although it felt that I had just climbed K2! I was glad that I had made the effort, and whilst I was nowhere in any of the winning results with several weird hands including 2 where I had no trumps at all, and one where I had 7 clubs and one small trump, (hearts,) so no chance , and another hand where 10 was my highest card , not a court card to be seen. However it was a very nice evening, I was pleased to have made the effort, and there were quite a lot of people missing, mostly due to all these wretched bugs going around and one person, sadly rushed into hospital, who we are all hoping is going to be ok.
So came home, pleased with my decision to go, and glad that I was coming into somewhere tidy. Made a drink and went to look at my emails only to find that Jessie wont be here today. Her mum had a fall, has had broken ribs and they were at the hospital for a lot of the day yesterday for x rays etc. I am very sorry to hear the news and am hoping they are able to help Debbie and give her good pain relief etc., and of course my things are of little importance, but nevertheless I am sorry that she wont be here to mostly sort out these bits especially as I had hoped that the great detective would find my glasses!
One good thing is that she sent me the message last night,so that I wont be expecting her , and can just organise today in any way that fits in with me. So I shall just plod on in my own slow way as best as I can. At least I have all basic foods in, and still got enough to eat, am up to date with the washing - if not with the ironing - and am catching up with things.
I need to get in touch with someone to find out what is happening at the meeting today. It is rather touch and go for me at the moment, a lot of effort to do anything, so if it is something I really want to go to, then shall as my dad used to say "shift your carcass" which meant make the effort to do something, but if it is something I have little interest in , may just stay in the warm. We are promised yet more rain today and that from tomorrow it is going to be very cold and we might get snow. Good job none of the winter stuff is put away yet. If I do go it will have to be in the car, not upto going on the buggy and its too miserable to even try. My goodness we could all do with a tonic of a sunny day and a chance to see some flowers out. My hyacinths are doing well but in one of the pots they are too leggy and I will have to put a stick in and tie them up or the flowers weight will snap the stalk, but lovely to see the deep blue and they should open a little by tomorrow, so will give me such a lift to smell their lovely perfume, which is going to be a wonderful positive start to a day to know that however long it takes spring will come. I am so longing for some earlier daylight and the minute that weather improves I shall abandon any jobs shamelessly and have my picnic box at the ready for a much needed trip up to Swaledale to lift my spirits.
Ah well I do have things to cheer my morning now. The great pleasure of a lovely coffee, that I can actually taste and enjoy now. Bach before 7 , never lets me down and restarts any horrible morning for the better, and you are never lonely with GN's post to begin your day with news and views. So blessings to be counted , and if I do go to the meeting I shall go mad and buy myself some small daffodils so that I have spring in my home if not outside yet.
Hope your chiropodist comes early Mick so that you can have the rest of the day free to do as you want. GrandMattie, you certainly had a busy time at Fab cafe, but no doubt that is also a great pleasure to have your cafe to look forward to for the tai chi class. Hope your own tai chi goes well today. Bellasnana , I can see you going between the two rooms firmly closing the doors, placating dogs and cats all day. Well hope Winston will settle on your lap and let you have a little peaceful time in a chair with a good cup of coffee.
Well slight improvement here and can now see the outline of the tree against the sky. Very still and murky but not actually raining at the moment. Hoping the rain stays off, which will be a help at least. the fields are so overloaded with water that there are standing big puddles already and nowhere for more water to go to.
Wishing everyone a more positive day today, in whatever way it can cheer you. Thinking of those who are having a difficult time right now and hope for improvements in every way.
Good morning everyone from a dark East Coast it’s going to get very cold from tomorrow.
Yesterday I walked in the rain and really enjoyed it though despite my good coat I got drenched.
My GS had a difficult morning at school though the afternoon he was great. At ours I couldn’t get the sound on his favourite programme which resulted in a meltdown. I try to stay calm and reassuring but inside I was shaky. He can’t help it. Today is his favourite cake day after school so that will help.
My sister ramped up her next threat to mum yesterday. She’s horrible. It just makes my mum stand her ground more.
This morning early I need to take DH to collect his van after the MOT and go for my hair done. It needs roots and highlights. From my hair I need to dash for gluten free plain flour for the cake there isn’t quite enough in the bag.
Hoping Marydoll’s DIL had a better day yesterday.
Thinking of those feeling poorly.💐
Enjoy a day with moments of joy 🌼
Good morning from a grey S E Essex it’s 6° with rain this afternoon ☔️
My cleaning fairies 🧚🧚 are here this morning, this afternoon I might drive to M & S Foodhall to see what they have to offer for Valentines meal deal.
Thinking of our morning friends who are currently not posting 🙋♀️
Hop Marydoll’s DDiL is on the mend.
Morning Mick, morning All. I’ll not comment in the weather in our quietly sinking corner of Somerset.
Yesterday flew past, full of bits and bobs.
A couple of phone calls to make this morning, a trip out for a few grocery bits, a sandwich and cuppa somewhere then the eye clinic for the usual scans, review and injection. Cottage pie from the freezer this evening.
Thinking of everyone with health and other challenges. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
Good morning. I’ve not looked out yet but I doubt there is much exciting to say about the weather.
Must get up and get going as it is my Art course day and I like to arrive a bit early to ensure a parking spot.
Sewing group this afternoon then I’ll pop in to DD3 who heard yesterday that she had been successful in the job interview she had on Friday.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.
Good morning from Shropshire.Sunshine and showers forecast today.
We are off to Manchester for the day.DGD is singing in the Young Voices concert tonight.I am quite nervous as it is the first time since I was ill that we are going out without the security of the car as we are going on the coach with the school.
I have to take quite a lot of medication etc out with me and usually have it all in a separate bag but have had to pare everything down to one bag.I am sure I will feel better once we are on the coach and the children are all so excited so should be a good day.
Hoping to hear that Marydoll’s DIL is starting to improve🙏🏻thoughts are with all struggling.
Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻
Good morning all from a cold Glasgow, where it is 2°C, with snow predicted. 😱
I am going to start with good news, DIL was moved out of HDU last night. She still has a long way to go and needed a new feeding line put in last night, because the one in her neck was quite painful.
We went up yesterday and found DS, sitting outside the ward , in a foul mood. He hadn't been allowed in, as DIL was getting a wash etc.
We were half way into the unit, when we were asked to leave again, which didn't help.
Nothing I could do or say was right, which didn't help my low mood,
I know he is suffering, but so are we all. I am still having episodes of vertigo, albeit, not as severely and it had taken an effort to get there..
It was awful in the ward, two of the patients had staff sitting at their beside, they were so ill and the lady next to DIL, had broken her spine and remembered nothing about her fall. 😪
On the way home, after getting off the bus, I popped into Poundstretcher for chocolate for Dollie. (} had no Mint Aeros, when she looked in the sweetie drawer,).
Before I knew it, the basket was full of DH's pickings. He was the man, who had huffed and puffed about going in.
It is a small shopping centre, with only a few shops, but I spotted a 70%off sign in New Look. Oh great joy!
After only five minutes in the store and I came out with two, Blue Vanilla sweaters, it is a brand, I like and the fit suits me perfectly, one was only £8.
On a lighter note, I persuade DS to go to football training and leave Dollie here,
She was quite tearful, when she arrived, I couldn't work out why her hands were inside her onsie sleeves, Then I saw her nails, Scarlet woman came to mind, Her nails were a bright shade of vermillion.
I asked if Daddy knew, of course he didn't,.
I wanted them to match the tartan brooch, you were making for school tomorrow, Daddy will be so angry, when he sees my nails.
I explained that red nails are not part of school uniform and what if she had spilled it on her new carpet,
It's OK, I put two pieces of toilet paper down, said the bold Dollie,
I was trying so hard not to laugh, especially, when she said, that she had tried to wash it off with soap.♥️
By the time DS came home ( in a better mood), all was well, her nails were au natural.
However, I asked her to tell DS, what she had done, He explained, that he wasn't angry, but her parents had to be present if she wanted to do it.
We have Babydoll in about twenty minutes, a long day ahead.
Thank you all for you kindness and prayers, it has helped me so much. ♥️
P.S. my very amateurish brooch, made from tartan ribbon, from DD's Pandemic wedding,
Good morning from wet South Lanarkshire.
A disappointing day yesterday. DH was all ready for surgery, he was going through questions with the nurse and mentioned that he had a spot of some sort on his shin which had appeared the day before. She called the surgeon to have a look as she thought it may have been an insect bite. Anyhoo the upshot was that as there was a risk of infection the surgery was postponed again. Rescheduled for the beginning of next month.
We’re now going to do our usual school run today so at least we’re being useful.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Madelaine I also have difficulty opening jars etc and have a pack of thin silicone discs which you put over the jar or bottle top and they seem to work like magic. They come in packs of different sizes and are readily available on the internet.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently a wintry 2° and wet. Yesterday it poured all day. Despite the weather, I had a nice day. My hairdresser made the most of my hair. I have very little hair and he's been encouraging it to grow into a bob. After that, I worked in the school library for an hour and enjoyed that too. Back home, I tidied up everywhere and hoovered too. Then a friend picked me up and we went for coffee and a blether. It's a nice café she takes me to, overlooking the cricket ground. At night I made a caesar salad for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Today will be a quiet day. Like elsewhere, snow and sleet are forecast. My plan is to make soup and maybe a lasagne and catch up on the Winter Olympics. Have a good day all.
Good morning everyone from a damp mid Essex. A clear sky and 6 degrees at the moment. The clear sky won’t last as rain is forecast for later. We did have a few glimpses of the sun yesterday, which prompted me to cut back one of the rampant perennials in the front garden. It was taking up a large amount of space and suffocating a couple of other plants.
I have to wait in to sign for a parcel today, so will start to put things together ready for a weekend away. We will be celebrating DD1s 50th birthday tomorrow somewhere on the south coast. The dynamic for these family occasions has changed - my DDs and sons inlaw now arrange everything and I just fit in with what’s been arranged. I know that I’m lucky that I’m included!
llfl I hope that a duvet day does the trick and you soon feel better.
Hoping that those with medical appointments today have good outcomes.
Thinking of marydoll and her family and hoping that her DDil is beginning to recover. Also thinking of the fgts.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning all .
Yesterday’s DVLA eye test went ok, I think, but I have to wait for results for a ‘few weeks’ 🙄. Another eye test today that I should have had after the last cataract operation. 👀. Probably new prescription and new glasses. 💷.
DGD has a school disco . 4.30 - 5.30.ill be up and down to the school like a yo-yo. Tomorrow is Wild Hair Day.oh dear!
Like you Sar I had a restless night. Once awake, the worries and thoughts just crowd in , don’t they 🤯. Glad your dh is doing well.
Take care and have the best day you can. 🌱
