Matcha

Having read about Matcha and seen it mentioned in food programmes I thought I'd try it. I had a mug of Matcha in a cafe today. It arrived looking like a bright green cappuccino. Well it was awful! Just horrible like minced spinach in a cup. It is just me? Do others like it or was it made wrong?

My husband was recommended to take Matcha by his oncologist. I make him a green tea with Matcha, and Manuka honey, it’s quite palatable, and good for inflammation. Turmeric is also great, but we don’t like the ‘golden milk’ recipes, so I incorporate it into cooking.
However, black tea (the normal stuff we all drink) and proper coffee is also good for you. We were recommended to follow Dr William Lee, who’s YouTube is easy to follow, and his book easy to understand for anyone who wants an anti cancer / health approach to food.

I was in town today and spotted posters advertising raspberry, vanilla and apple matcha. They might taste a bit better than the ghastly thick green mug of the stuff I had. It was expensive too.

Hot Matcha with dried rose petals or chilled Matcha with Hibiscus are lovely

I don’t like it either. I think I had it as Matcha tea. I overhead someone in Costa Coffee today order an iced strawberry matcha latte. I couldn’t work out which part of the order offended me the most smile.

Sounds as revolting as it actually tastes! 🤣

It's foul. I was trying to have something healthy every day and I mixed it with spirulina and honey, but I had to actually hold my nose and drink it. It's disgusting! I've still got most of it in the cupboard, which is probably out of date now, so I will have to throw it away.

Matcha is absolutely awful. It's up there with carrot cake as one of the most disgusting things ever tasted.

I really look forward to my first mug of coffee every morning then my second one!

Me too! Not human before my coffee (black). Can’t stand tea.

I had a Matcha latte in Costa when I took a break on the motorway on my home yesterday.

I still don’t think much of it!

Never tried beetroot latte- am I brave enough?

I've also yet to taste "Dubai Chocolate" also green inside, from Pistachios which I do like. I suspect that's also been over-hyped.

Dubái chocolate is gorgeous.

Lindt Dubai Chocolate is delicious albeit a little pricey

Grannynannywanny said I saw someone drinking it in a cafe. It resembled the cuttings from a lawnmower box

Yes! Grass cuttings! I tried an iced matcha last summer when iced lattes were unavailable at a cafe. This was my face. >>> 🤢 Never again. I don’t mind green tea, though.

On the topic, I don’t really understand flavoured coffees. Why would I put a bubblegum or passion fruit flavour into my coffee when what I want is a coffee flavoured drink? I’d chew bubble gum or eat a passion fruit if I wanted those!
