Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it is -5°C, with snow predicted.
I have been up most of the night, with awful joint paint and when I looked out, there was a sprinkling of snow in the field next to us.
Yesterday's day out with Dollie started really well, She was very subdued, understandably, then brightened up at the sight of all the clothes in Primark.
I laughed, when she chose and off the shoulder top. When I said it was not appropriate for a ten year old, she told me, that she could wear a vest underneath it. ♥️
She was so excited, trying clothes on, This was the brightest I had seen her, since DIL became ill.
She paid with her bank card and to my relief, remembered her PIN.
Then things started to go wrong. We sat down for a rest, after meeting Papa, who had been dumped in Costa. Dollie became hysterical, saying, that she had lost her bank card. I couldn't understand it, for I had watched her putting it safely in her bag.
What I hadn't factored in, was that she had been continually checking to see if she still had it.
My heart was breaking for her, she was so distraught.
Failing to get a hold of DS to freeze it, I struggled back to Primark, so see if it had been handed in. The staff were so kind, but unfortunately, there was no sign of the card.
DS is not the most patient of people and I was dreading telling him. I did eventually get a text, saying he had frozen it.
On the way back to DH and Dollie, I spotted some security guards and asked them, if by any chance a card had been handed in.
Is it pink? It was lying on a bench, you can collect it in the Management Suite,
I could have wept with relief.
I took, a still sobbing Dollie, to the suite, where we were met with such kindness from everyone.
Well done, Team Braehead,
I then had to ask DH to unfreeze the card. I wasn't sure if he would!
Unknown to me, DH had messaged DS to ask him to be gentle with Dollie, she is so fragile at the moment.
Card unfrozen, the world was back in equilibrium. Claire's Accessorities is closing down and Dollie spotted lots of reduced goodies, strangely, the card never left her bag, gran paid! 😉
We also had to visit her favourite shop, to look for Anime items She was terrified that her card wouldn't work. I explained to the assistant, what had happened. As she was leaving, he handed get a lollipop to cheer her up. Strangers can be so kind.
As you can imagine, there was no time for MD to shop, but as we passed TKMaxx on the way to the car, DH said: ^ Go in and take as long as you want^. 😱
I was looking for a new apron, the ones I bought in Rome many moons ago, are all, tired and done, ( Just like their owner),
I came out with a Phase Eight £85 sweater, in chartreuse, my favourite colour, for £18.
That made my day, along with Dollie telling me in McDonald's, that this was the best day ever. 😍
Later, DS took her to visit DIL, who messaged to say DIL was much brighter and was gossiping about the two women in the ward, who had taken a dislike to each other. Progress indeed,
She is still connected up to all sorts of tubes, but she is getting there.
Due to all the angst of the last few weeks, I forgot to do the new parish rotas and they finished last weekend,
I sent out a ^ help email and many kindly offered to cover, What a relief!
This morning website and bulletin to do, but before that, a hot bath to try and ease my pain.
Yesterday was the anniversary of a rather tipsy DH proposing fifty years ago. For the first time ever, we forgot, Is the a sign our marriage is over.? 😪
To all the poorlies, including LLFL, I hope you feel better.
Enjoy your Saturday.
