Another photograph yesterday from Meghan to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
It is Harry with his daughter.
After seeing it and others published recently do you other Grans just wish you could get a decent brush and give her hair a really good brush?
Much is made of its glorious colour but oh dear it looks like rats tails to me.

Yes, the general public in both the UK and the US are losing interest in Harry and family.
I hope they lose their titles when William becomes king.
It will be an interesting time, especially as the children may have reached teenagehood by them and ma have their own opinions on the family estrangement saga.

I feel that all these press releases the Sussex pair make is in competition with the Wales.
The Wales put out a happy family shot and the Sussexes respond with the usual goey hollywood version.
It's the usual annoyance of a younger brother feeling 'bested' by the elder and making the point that he is still alive and kicking.

With the benefit of hindsight, and 6 years having elapsed since they left, ……

If they had never slagged off the Royals and written a book, if they had decided on their business ventures and not relied on their family connections, if they had just kept lower profiles but appeared publicising them on less frequent occasions, their new ‘private but self funding’ lifestyles may have worked.

Oh, and if they had bought a less ostentatious property and employed fewer staff, and made less fuss about security and titles etc, it might, just might, have all worked out better.

But they didn’t.

Allira Wed 18-Feb-26 11:23:56

Calendargirl that is spot on.

Oreo Wed 18-Feb-26 13:58:05

Calendargirl that’s exactly right.

It was also reported that the Queen was not happy about her very personal private pet name being hijacked by that publicity hungry couple.

Well nobody owns their name, pet or otherwise. And Queen or not.

Over seventy years, and Queen Elizabeth never once made a personal comment about anything. She stuck to never complain, never explain, and I am certain that, even if something had displeased her, she would never have commented on it if there was the slightest chance it would have gone public.
It’s funny all these ‘sources’ are speaking out now she has died. The one about her name is quite specific, with her ‘reportedly’ saying, ‘ I don’t own the palaces ( not true, she owned Balmoral and Sandringham), all I own is my name ( do we ‘own’ our names?) and now they’ve taken that’. I don’t believe she would have said something like that in a million years.

Anniebach Wed 18-Feb-26 18:02:18

She wouldn’t have said Balmoral and Sandringham were palaces

You're entitled to that belief is as much as anyone else is entitled to theirs Daddima.

Of course, we all understand that, but are you saying I shouldn’t share my belief?

I confirmed your right to hold a belief.
Where did I say you weren’t entitled to share it?

I was flattered when one of my granddaughters was given my pet name. Why wouldn’t I be?

But I don't suppose her parents had publicly trashed your family in an interview which was broadcast in countries around the world.

And at exactly the time that your husband of 73 years was very ill indeed, subsequently dying one month later. If he knew what was happening he must have been extremely upset and anxious on behalf of his wife.

I'll say one thing for Meghan and Harry - they do have impeccable timing. Every time.

Agree Allira. , the child is named after her grandmother who was cruel to the childs, mother

Sorry, but that’s what the tone of your reply led me to infer. I don’t think I, or anyone, needed confirmation of anyone’s right to hold a belief, so I apologise if I missed your point.

Can I ask when QE2 was cruel to the child’s mother?

Sorry, I’m confused. Wasn’t Diana the child’s grandmother?

Yes Queen Elizabeth was the child's great grandmother. I think Anniebach is referring to the various interviews where Meghan claimed the Royal family were cruel and controlling to her, and implied there was racism from them. Which would make you wonder why you'd use a private pet name for the Queen for your daughter.

Anniebach Thu 19-Feb-26 16:34:23

Sorry I meant great grandmother, thank you Rosie I was referring to the Oprah interview

It's hard to think of Diana as a grandmother, isn't it!

But yes, of course she was and Lilibet's second name is Diana.
Not Doria, which is a very pretty name.

So, she didn’t actually say that the Queen was cruel to her, rather she kept it as a vague reference to the institution?
I don’t think even she would have been so stupid as to accuse the Queen of cruelty! All their accusations were kept deliberately vague, so they could claim media distortion at a later date.
