Celery is one for me and also those tiny little corn cobs you get in Chinese cuisine. The other day I had a jackfruit smoothie. Yuck, sounds nice, tastes vile.

Oh tripe, chick peas, butter beans, the white of an egg.

Oh tripe

Yes, but this is about perfectly good food!! 🤮

Not keen on coconut although I could eat it fresh from the shell. Desiccated- no.

Oysters - no!
Nor most shellfish.
Nothing aniseedy nor fennel.

MT62 Thu 19-Feb-26 22:30:32

Or penne, like eating inner tubes 😂

Poppyred Thu 19-Feb-26 22:59:02

Tea and runny eggs, would rather die……

henetha Thu 19-Feb-26 23:25:10

Kidneys. Yuk.

May I take my place amongst the remarkably small number of people on here who do not know of any "perfectly good food" we really don't like? I bitterly regret the (thankfully few) wasted childhood years when I eschewed cheese, onions and mushrooms...

Yoghurt. The devil's spit

Couldn’t agree more, tastes like sour milk!

Surprised so many dislike tea. I’d be miserable without it. I also love potatoes in any form.

I have come to dislike most meat, although I ate it happily when younger. I won’t eat any visible fat.

I’ve never tried oysters and don’t think I would even if I had the chance. Hate the thought of them. Same goes for tripe.

I don’t like avocado, but I can’t think of any other vegetable or fruit I really dislike.

Mollygo Fri 20-Feb-26 04:04:09

Tripe, though I used to eat it quite happily.
Pineapple.
Tofu
Chilli con carne
Shepherd’s pie
Cottage pie
Squid
Butter beans
Kidneys

Never been able to like Olives or Avacado

Ziplok

Beetroot.

I don't like beetroot either. I am also not keen on lettuce as I find it tasteless. I also have a strong and visceral dislike of custard, blancmange and any of the milk puddings - rice pudding, tapioca and semolina - that were so prevalent in our childhoods. Hot milk makes me heave. The very worst for me, though, is nuts of any type. All make me physically sick and peanuts and coconut are the worst. The very smell of them makes me feel nauseous.

Me too

Tripe, utterly revolting, had it once in hospital and nearly had a relapse 🤮, although my father loved it. Whelks, although I’ll eat snails with garlic butter. Under cooked eggs, fish soup, or any fish not descaled and boned.

Unfortunately I like everything 😂

I was beginning to think I was alone! Only thing I can remember having to spit out was whelks!

I join the like-everything club - perhaps we are plain greedy!

Lemongrass and anything with Lemongrass in it, horrible taste. Full fat milk and anything aniseed.

watertyger Fri 20-Feb-26 11:51:56

Swede. Forced to eat it as a young child in school dinners. Ditto apricots. Any kind of fat on meat. Yuck. Mostly eat vegetarian food anyway as I want my grandchildren to have a future.

Kitty55 Fri 20-Feb-26 15:28:59

Okra, jackfruit, butter bean's but enjoy most foods.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 20-Feb-26 15:38:23

Finally thought of one more as I like most food but coriander is like soap.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 20-Feb-26 15:43:33

I don't think I've ever had pigeon !! Perhaps I have and didn't know it.....
I've thought of another group of perfectly good foods that I don't like.... some game. I've had partridge and venison ( once each) and I didn't like that " gamey" taste. I presume that I wouldn't like other forms of game for the same reason.

I’ve often wondered how hungry one would have to be if the only food available to eat was the one you loathed. Would you rather starve? I’ve read about people being adrift in small boats eating raw fish (sushi?) and even seagull.

This brings back memories of me, aged eight, and trying not to eat the bowl of rice pudding that was in front of me. My Dad came out with the immortal: "Starving children in Africa would be glad of your rice pudding. They wouldn't worry about whether they liked it or not." Of course, it didn't make me like rice pudding anymore - l think I would have been happy to send it to these African children - but I was determined never to utter those words to my own children and I didn't. To be fair, both my parents were born in WW2 and were children of the raationing era so very much of the waste not, want not mindset. I, too, hate waste but I think that encouraging children to try different foods is one thing but forcing them to eat something they don't like is wrong.

......and each other.

Unfortunately for me it's cheese and dried fruit. It was always in the house and my parents ate it but I can't do with it. (My Dad had cheese on Christmas cake!!) I wish I did as it is amazing what they stick cheese in nowadays - things that never used to have it in - think they do it to bulk it out. I'm a plain and simple Yorkshire Lass and don't have all these weird things that I sometimes don't even know what they are. Both my Mum and Gran were really good cooks and it was all good homegrown food. Don't get me wrong I like Chinese, Greek and Italian (with no cheese) on occasion.

AmberGran Fri 20-Feb-26 20:58:15

I don't eat shellfish of any description. No idea why not.

I don't eat tomatoes but will have tomato sauce on my pasta if pushed and ketchup on my burger.

I think everything else is okay though.

Poppyred Fri 20-Feb-26 22:12:23

When I was little I hated swede and broad beans with a vengeance……I love both now.
