No Spring clean this year for me!

I would normally be doing a Spring clean about now so I can spend free time in the garden over the summer.

Due to having moved home in May 2025 and having decluttered and organised everything there is no Spring cleaning.

Instead I am going through my wardrobes, cupboards and drawers to list on Vinted.

It’s great once you get going!

Any money earned will be spent on plants.

Have you thought about or started a Spring clean?

I've thought about it, but not started, and I do need to have a clearout, but this morning, with the sun shining, and a bit warmer outside, I did make a start on my pots in the front, I took all the old flowers and moss ( it grows and spreads ) and binned them...

I've thought about it, especially when, like today, the sun is shining, showing up all the grubby marks. However, I havent done anything about it yet. Nearly my entire (small) house was painted last summer, so it isn't too bad. I will start my annual Swedish death clean this month

Normally would be well underway by now but have been very lazy. Almost turned into a dormouse this Winter. Have to get off my backside soon though - the sun is showing up all the dust.

Never done it, never will!

Sort of. I had a new dishwasher last week, and as it’s integrated I thought that as the fitter would be on his knees for a while in my kitchen he’d see any marks at low level. Once I’d started with the base boards and lower cupboards I carried on, and my kitchen is now gleaming, even on the tops of the cupboards. The rest of the house is clean, but not to that degree, I’m waiting for the sun to highlight the bits I’ve missed.

I was going to start a declutter this week, but have twisted my knee and am out of action. We also have a visiting puppy for a couple of weeks, so I will put it off until normal service can be resumed.

My spring clean is just about getting ready for summer. I have turned the heating down, and will be taking my winter curtains down too for a wash, and putting up the lighter, summer ones.

I will be washing/cleaning my winter coats and putting them away too.

My normal cleaning routine doesn't change otherwise.

What is this Spring Clean? Not part of my vocabulary!! 😏
We just clean as and when it’s needed whatever the season.

Ziplok Tue 03-Mar-26 13:36:38

I shan’t be washing my winter coats and putting them away at the moment - I think there’s potential for further cold snaps yet.
However, whilst it is nice, I have started some fettling, but I don’t tend to do a massive spring clean, but rather keep on with bits throughout the year. Having said that, what I will do as soon as it warms up a bit is wash all the curtains, as some are looking on the grubby side. They take ages to dry, so I need to wait for a warm, sunny day to do them.

I thought this was much more of a thing in the days of coal fires. Can’t say I’ve ever done it, but I do have a bit of a blitz now and then anyway. Usually overdue!

I don't spring clean but some jobs are easier to do over the summer months.

Cabbie21 Tue 03-Mar-26 16:31:29

“Ne’er cast a clout till May be out”. I fear we may need our winter coats again for a while.
I don’t do spring cleaning as such, but the sun does show up some cobwebs and streaky windows, so they’d better go on my To Do list.

I remember washing my curtains every spring but now I never wash them .

DamaskRose Tue 03-Mar-26 17:19:59

I mostly do things when I think they need doing but will washing curtains etc (yes, they say must be dry cleaned but I wash them on a delicate wash and they’re fine!) when it’s a bit warmer. I’m happy just to be able to get some washing on the line. smile

I spring clean every year, but the same thing happens, I get so far then get fed up, loose interest and then can’t get going again. I’m in the waiting to get going again phase.
Someone give me a kick you the bum !

I’ve never spring cleaned in my life. I thought it was done around 100 years ago in the era of coal fires and cigarettes, when walls were distempered and curtains washed to get rid of the smoke and pollution. The floors must have needed scrubbing too because people wore shoes indoors and they had no Hoovers.
We and our homes are much cleaner now.

Gran22boys Wed 04-Mar-26 20:17:14

I doubt if my adult children have ever heard of Spring cleaning. I think it will die out within a generation.

Witzend Wed 04-Mar-26 20:20:44

Well, I just cleared out and cleaned 2 kitchen drawers. Does that count?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 04-Mar-26 20:26:03

Well I’ve read all your posts
That’ll do.

I think the buzz word now is ‘deep’ clean.

I wouldn’t know where to start fortunately. 😉

You binned moss 😥

No need. I do all the cleaning throughout the year.
And it helps being the absolute opposite of a horder.

NotAGran55 Wed 04-Mar-26 21:02:50

What do you do it a spring clean, that isn’t done routinely during the year?
I’ve never done one, and don’t recall my mum doing one either.
Come to think about it, neither did my dad, and my husband certainly hasn’t!
Do men do them 🤷🏻‍♀️?
