Good morning from Bristol.
I’m still feeling very unwell. Nothing I can put my finger on, all the more frustrating as I’m normally disgustingly healthy.
I have battled on all week, but had to give up last night, when I felt at my worst.
I called off the probably final WI extraordinary committee meeting, regarding the ridiculous new rules. We were to hav3 discussed resignation, probable closure of the institute, possible re-formation outside the WI, and re-joining if th3 rules change, etc. it was a very important meeting.
Today, I’m supposed to go to the church coffee and chat but have decided to be kind to myself, stay home and do absolutely nothing.
I’ve barely eaten all week - yippee, I should have lost some extra weight I shouldn’t be carrying! I’m at a loss at what to have, I have no appetite and feel nauseous all the time. Whatever “this” is, it’s not pleasant.
May all those in distress have a gentle weekend. Look at the ⛅️ silver linings. Carpe diem 🦩🦩❤️🦩🌷🦩

Good morning from Kent where it is barely above zero. Unexpectedly cool for this time of year.

Yesterday I noticed that my knitting pattern wasn't quite working out at the end of the row. I counted the stitches and realised that I was one short so I must have dropped a stitch by mistake but couldn't see where. There was an almighty loop at the edge though so I've done something wrong with the slip stitch at the start of the row. I've frogged and will re-evaluate today.

Wishing good health to all.

Good morning Mick and GrandMattie from a dry and dark north Wales where I’m about to enjoy the chamberpot ☕️ before my trot for a newspaper and a chat with the pregnant ewes…

Your unwellness will be most unsettling GM for one so normally healthy- take it easy and let others step into the breach 💐

I’m hopping on the bus later to our favourite tearoom in Conwy for a bottomless brunch with DD 🥂 and tomorrow will be afternoon tea with DGD and more 🥂

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Good morning from Malta where it has rained overnight (of course, I’d cleaned my car!😩) and more showers are forecast with a high of 17°C.

Dear grandMattie, so very sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly. Glad you are taking a day off and hope you’ll feel better. I think it is even harder feeling unwell when you live alone. I speak from experience.Get well soon.💐💐

I had a lovely day with the boys yesterday. They are such good company. They played together a lot which was very entertaining with DD2 giving all the orders and DD1 meekly following them!😄

Thank you for the kind comments about Winston! He really is the loveliest natured cat. I know I’m going to feel lost without him but he will be off to live in Bulgaria soon.

DS and his girlfriend have found a lovely apartment so will be going by the beginning of next month. Three out of four of my children will then be living abroad. (Was it something I said?😂)

I have nothing exciting on the agenda today. There are the tennis semi finals to watch later so a nap will be necessary this afternoon.

Wishing you all a good day.🤗

Buenos Dias again from Aguilas (Spain) where the sun is just rising. Another fine day promised.

Was lovely to have a free day yesterday after all our days out. I had a late breakfast and spent most of the day sitting in the sunshine finishing one book and starting another.
I went for a little walk around the marina late afternoon.

A celebration at dinner with cards and balloons as one lady in our party turned 85!
After dinner we all repaired to a restaurant in the marina where there was a bar and dancing.
Another birthday today as a gentleman in the group turns 80.

A free day again today so a repeat of yesterday, except the afternoon will be spent packing; we are off again tomorrow, further south into Andalucia.

Sorry to read you are feeling so poorly grandMattie - hope you soon feel right again.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from cold s somerset, I think the sun will be out today

GM self-care is needed, rest and more rest

I spent the whole day knitting yesterday, I need to get this top finished. Similar today but I will add a walk and will make a wholesome soup with some spices, also some crumbles from my frozen gooseberries and bananas. Both will be spiced with the best unadulterated spices from my new online supplier

I had various certificates via e mail for my boiler, paperwork I must file away.

I am anticipating a nice relaxing day

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still lightening but very cold morning in North Yorkshire. Just had a horrible session of cramp and so am moving very carefully and having to think what I am doing. Very annoying as I wanted to get going and be down the market early etc.

Yesterday I went out early as the forecast was dry and windy but promising heavy showers later on. So got my act together and set off on the yellow peril, with not a huge amount of things to do but in various parts of the town. So I was quite pleased with myself that I managed to do most of the things I needed to get done, including putting my prescription into the box at the chemist. Also called in at Upfront to check something but by the time I ended up in the supermarket the rain had begun and so it was a hurried dash home.

I arrived to see two big vans from the leasehold group parked up and there were 4 men sorting out the tree situation. So there were saws on long extensions and people carting all the big branches removed etc off. So that was cheering to see that something was being done to sort things out and havent had chance to go and inspect the tree , but fingers crossed it may now survive. I hope so. A neighbour was also out watching them work and I spoke to her and said that I had rung but that they had said no one would come until next monday, and she said she had also rung them, so probably they had had one or two more calls and decided that they had better deal with it more promptly. Anyway for whatever reason it was put further up the job list and that was also to the good. Next week I shall check through paperwork and ring them up and get them to make sure that my name and address are properly registered with their maintenance , so ringing them about the tree has shown that their records are not correct and it will be good to make sure they are brought up to date in case I need to ring them for something in the flat.

So I was pleased that I had managed to do a few things but it still feels as though I am running to stand still! It seems to take so long and such an effort to do the everyday things that I never seem to get to the extra jobs that I want to do and of course no cleaners has added to that. Ah well we plod on.

A friend is hopefully coming this afternoon, and so once I have got the shopping done I need to get some tidying up done . I have to admit that being on my own, I tend to leave things out that I am working on, rather than putting it all away and then having to get it out again. It saves me bending down to drawers etc but does not look at all neat. I remember when my youngest sister left home , my mother was pleased to claim her bedroom as her sewing room. She was a very good seamstress and used to make quite complicated things, but if she was doing things like putting patterns onto the material she would used the dining room table and had to keep clearing it off, so she was delighted to then be able to just firmly close the door on whatever working mess there was. These days I dont think many people have a spare room for such things.

I dont think my son will be coming this weekend , and I certainly wont be going out to any restaurant, as they will be very busy and no doubt expensive so it is definitely eat at home weekend , but at the moment have no idea what I want . There is meat in the freezer too but I shall just have to see if something appeals to me on the market. I find it easier when I know what I want to eat and then you know what you need to get in the way of vegetables. I only know the negative in that I dont want any chicken.

Nothing special in the local paper that appeals for the weekend, but will get the Yorkshire Post today and have that to enjoy. The forecast is for cold and wet so probably reluctantly get round to the ironing, and yet more paperwork, and emails etc. Pantglas sounds as though you have a nice weekend planned. Enjoy it.

Wishing everyone an improving day and pleasant meetings

How nice for you to have your sister visiting Mick. Hope you enjoy yourselves. So sorry you are feeling ill grandMattie , and hope that you can rest and take things easy this weekend.
Gillymo how annoying to see your time and effort wasted. Hope you dont have to unpick too much.

Good morning from a dry but chilly NE, sun is just starting to shine through bathroom window.
No family visit today as GD has an all day rehearsal for the school production of Hadestown which will be staged next week.
May look for a film on Netflix and do some crosswords.
Have a good weekend.

Morning all from a chilly West Oxfordshire.

My granddaughter has just got up but I told her that I was staying in bed another hour!

OH and I had a good day at the Arts Society Study Day on British illustration. We got back home an hour or so before elder son and our granddaughter arrived.

Our daughter is arriving around lunchtime. It will be good to see her.

Hope you feel better soon GM. There are certainly a lot of bugs around. I am still shaking off a cold and cough which I’ve had for ages. It doesn’t help that my toe is still uncomfortable. Oh well, I’m seeing a podiatrist in a couple of weeks.

Have a good day everyone.🌹

cornergran Sat 14-Mar-26 07:12:31

Morning Mick, morning g All from a chilly, thankfully dry and much less windy corner of Somerset.

Yesterday’s heavy showers were often hailstones, horrid for those out in them. Thankfully it was dry when the car went for its wash and brush up after lunch. I feel so guilty if the young man doing it is out in the rain. He just laughs and points out his waterproofs.

A couple of things to iron first then Mr C will take over with the bedding. The last of my box files arrived yesterday, all bright colours, I’ll carry on filling them until we head off for our tip booking late morning. After that? A quick dash into Waitrose for bread and milk, drop it off at home then if the forecast sun is here we’ll wander forth somewhere, find some lunch and stretch the legs. I’ve been told there will be a flower delivery later today, I know they will be lovely and I’ll appreciate them while fretting at the cost. A decent day ahead - if it works!

A long, very upset message came from our goddaughter yesterday evening. Management changes at her Mums Home seem to be for the worse. It breaks my heart to think of my dear friend without the standard of care she and everyone deserves.

Please do rest grandmattie, get well wishes are winging your way. Hope your sister’s visit goes well mick and you enjoy catching up

Best wishes to all, have the best day you can everyone.

Georgesgran Sat 14-Mar-26 07:19:16

Good Morning from a bright, sunny Durham. I’m the birthday girl - 75, but I can’t say I’m totally happy about it! No celebrations, but DD2 and DGS2 will visit later - we might go out with him or not.
It sounds like you’ve got ‘the lurgy’ doing the rounds gM. Apparently it’s a virus, so no treatment other than time, my friend is in week 3, now with a hacking cough.

Best wishes to all. X

GrannyGravy13 Sat 14-Mar-26 07:24:06

Morning, 3 and dry in S Hants, we too had squally showers yesterday, hail and rainbows.
Long call from my daughter last night, our grandson is still struggling with school, various options, tricky times ahead.
No real plans today, may get out for a walk if it warms up.
I hope you improve after a quieter day gMattie.
Enjoy your visitor Mick.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is shining and the wind has died down at last. I slept very well last night but still feel tired this morning.

I have to do my usual Aldi shop this morning before DS turns up for a visit. He is taking me for lunch at a nice local pub. Hopefully there will be time for a short walk before he goes home. He likes to be able to stretch his legs before he faces the journey home. For a change, I no little jobs lined up for him. He’ll think he’s come to the wrong house😂!

Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Sat 14-Mar-26 07:31:46

Good morning everyone from a lovely sunny mid Essex. It’s a chilly 2 degrees outside. The sun shining through the kitchen window is showing how dirty the windows are, both outside and in. We’ve obviously had some Sahara dust recently.

I collected my new glasses yesterday, the frames are a little smaller than my previous pair but I’ll get used to them. I had a little wander rounder the shops until my back started to protest.

Not sure what I’ll do today, I need to clean upstairs and change the bedclothes, so that will occupy some of the day. DD1 won’t be coming today, but may call in tomorrow. DD2 may also call in tomorrow, the 7 year old granddaughters both have kung fu grading tests tomorrow at 12.30 for an hour in a town about half an hour away. I may see them all afterwards for a short time!

grandmattie I’m sorry you are feeling so poorly, have a quiet day and rest, hopefully you will feel better tomorrow.

I hope all those who are feeling ill or are worried for any reason, find some improvement today.

Have the best day possible everyone, equinox next weekend and the clocks go forward in two weeks’ time!

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Mar-26 07:33:14

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1° and dry. georgesgran a happy birthday to you. GrandMattie I hope you feel more like yourself soon. Corner could your goddaughter contact the Care Commission?
Yesterday was another slow day. Yet again, we had awful weather so I stayed home, after a quick tidy of the school library.
Today I'm meeting my friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. We meet up once a fortnight and put the world right. This afternoon I have a Tesco delivery and that's all. A quiet existence. Have a good day all.

kittylester Sat 14-Mar-26 07:33:43

Good morning all from a very cold but brightish North Leicestershire.

Happy Birthday Georgesgran.
A local food shop for us this morning and then DH will go to collect his Mum .I shall walk down to town and meet them for lunch.
Thoughts with those who are feeling under par and a good day wished for everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 14-Mar-26 07:36:24

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp but is sunny. Alexa says 10°C later with possible showers.

I have L’il Miss joining me after breakfast while the Boy Wonder is taken by his dad to play a football match. It’s a joy having her with me who can be sad with a delightful 9 year old for company? We will play up here awhile then mooch around the shops (I need to pick up a yoga mat from Argos in Sainsbury’s as I plan to join a class on Wednesday morning - get me!) pop into the library and have drinks in Starbucks as she likes a cake pop and a strawberry fizz.

No other plans but I did wake delighted when I remembered the £800 I received from cashing in my gold jewellery yesterday! Enough for a holiday I’m thinking later in the year … maybe. 😊
