Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry outside here in Brackley today .
Up to my usual routine with a bus trip into Bicester , do a shop , return for lunch and maybe go in again.
My health is OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

grandMattie Tue 17-Mar-26 05:31:31

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
I’m feeling better every day, though, naturally, taking time to bounce back to my usual (smug) good health.
The WI meeting yesterday was quieter than expected. Despite one very longstanding member accusing the committee of having been underhand, the membership was stunned at the news. It seems that, as no one will sign the form, our particular institute very sadly will probably close.
If that is what they want, we may set up a similar group, but not under the aegis of the WI. The committee is meeting here on Friday. Watch this space.
I’m supposed to have an empty today. Ha! The usual laundry, baking for tomorrow, etc.
My lovely pc man is calling, to remotely fix a silly little glitch on my pc, at lunchtime.
I might have time to go town to get a new ironing board cover mine is falling apart due to overuse - with patchwork, not excessive sock and duster ironing, you understand…
I’m delighted to have finished knitting the body of my fair isle jumper; just the sleeves to do now. The winter will be over before I can wear it! Pity.
Hope everyone’s day is bright. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay following a chilly day yesterday.

You made me smile with your sock and duster comment, grandMattie!

I have a busy few days coming up as Blithe Spirit opened at our theatre last night, and I shall see it this evening while doing Front of House duty. DH is due to arrive from France tomorrow evening and we are going to see Don Quixote performed by the Birmingham Royal Ballet in Plymouth on Thursday.

This morning, I shall attend the usual props team session at the theatre. One of the team is the props person for this week's production so we shall hear how it went last night.

“May all your troubles be little ones,” as my late darling Dad used to say!

Good morning from s somerset, sunny, windy and cool

A perfect day to dry the lanes and especially needed for the whole area near me. There is at least another month of work on the road. All the stoic residents are just starting to crack, me included, it has been very restrictive to all of us

The 4th knitted top is now almost dry on my precious jumper board, which does a grand job of blocking. My fingers need a break from knitting so I will sew again. Slow mo sewing and in collaboration with my wardrobe and all the toiles in it. It will be one in and more than one out

I am enjoying a book at the moment so will continue that today and will make a batch of lentil patties, this time with pre-roasted squash from my freezer and using my imagination for additions

Bellasnana Tue 17-Mar-26 05:58:04

Good morning from Malta where another day of showers is forecast with a high of 13°C. Had to put the heater on yesterday I was so cold. 🥶

Managed to keep the cat and dog apart yesterday then had DGS1 after school while his mum and brother went shopping. He wanted to stay with Nana, bless him.

I bought him a small book about dinosaurs a while ago and he carries it everywhere with him. He knows a lot of the names, I had no idea just how many different ones there were. You live and learn!

Today I’ve got no demands on my time which is how I like it. I shall definitely do some cleaning as the floors are messy after yesterday’s rain. I can see little paw marks everywhere!

Have a good day folks.🤗

Good morning and happy St Patrick’s Day. ☘️

It’s still damp and murky looking here in South Lanarkshire.

We are having tea in the hall after Mass this morning and I’ll be helping out before coming home to check on DH. Then it’s off to the charity shop for my shift this afternoon.

I’ve made a hearty beef stew to be reheated when I get home.

Have the best day possible everyone.

HelterSkelter1 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:11:49

Good morning from a dry N Surrey. It's just starting to get light.

I was cold all day yesterday. Despite the heating being on and many layers worn. Since chemo 5+ years ago, and I suppose being 77 and not 70 or 21! anymore, my internal thermostat is dodgy. I think if I were in Scandinavia and could have regular saunas, I would warm up to my core. I am active all day and wear enough warm layers.
The forecast is for warmer weather this week. Hooray.
I rewatched Episode 5 of The Other Bennet Sister last night and cant wait for the next 5 to be released. I have enjoyed it more than any series in the past few years. I don't know the story so it will be a surprise. It's all so well done. Worth my licence fee!

grandMattie Tue 17-Mar-26 06:13:54

bellas, until my sons were born, I only knew that there had been dinosaurs. I had no idea of the variety and sizes. I had to learn very quickly and accept my pig ignorance in the face of such encyclopaedic knowledge from the boys!

NannyJan53 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:16:13

Good morning from a dark and cloudy but dry (for now) Black Country.

Busy day yesterday, over to Mums to do a Supermarket shop. She doesn't need so much now as she has Wiltshire Farm Food meals for lunch, which the Carer pops in the microwave. Although when I ask on a call later has she been today, she cannot remember!

Popped into Merry Hill on the way, bought sandals, lightweight trousers and a top for our holiday.

This morning, I have to accompany MrJ to Hospital as he has his dressing changed, they want me to see how to do it in case it needs changing when away. We go on the bus, as it takes you straight there, and no worries about finding a parking spot or paying! Only takes about 20 minutes.

Then train this evening to a Hotel near Airport, ready for our 6am flight in the morning to Fuerteventura.

Wishing you all the best day possible

GillyMo Tue 17-Mar-26 06:27:11

Good morning all from a quiet Kent. It is feeling quite balmy today.

Yesterday was a quiet day too. I got some seed potatoes in the ground and checked that the onions hadn't been pulled out by the pigeons. They hadn't which must mean that the pigeons haven't been scratching around that area yet.

Today, no plans other than bake a chocolate sponge cake.

Peaceful day all.

Melanie61 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:30:43

Good morning from Sheffield

DH is off out all day to a museum with his pals today.

I shall work and then I have the AGM at my WI meeting this evening.
GrandMattie , nothing has been mentioned at my group about signing a form. Is it about the gender issue?
I have read about it but our committee haven’t said anything.
It’s a shame that your group looks like it will have to close.

Still having TIB, I shall have to shake a leg and get up
Take care everyone flowers

Grandmabatty Tue 17-Mar-26 06:32:07

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and dry. Bellasnana dgs1 used to love dinosaurs. There's a series on Netflix about them at the moment. NannyJan have a lovely holiday. Ash I love Blythe Spirit. I hope it goes well.
Yesterday went well here. The boys were good and went to school no problem. I had an early nap then headed in to the school library to tidy. The boys were duly picked up and I made dinner. An early night ensued. However it was a poor night for me. Lots of wakening.
Today I'll get the boys and bring them back to my house for breakfast before depositing them at school. I'll make a big slow cooker pot of chilli, some for dinner tonight and some for the freezer. I have no other plans for today. Have a good day all.

cornergran Tue 17-Mar-26 06:36:32

Morning Mick, morning All. A dry and draughty day forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Yesterday’s blood test didn’t happen as it seems I don’t actually need one. The nurses were baffled as to why I’d been told to book one, as was I. All became clear later, a change of protocol hadn’t filtered to all staff, it has now.

Once back home I had a mad moment and polished every shoe I could get my hands on before enjoying coffee and a chat with friends. The afternoon was spent on this and that.

Grocery delivery this morning, laundry to process which with luck will dry outside. On to some batch cooking for next week. I’m sticking to my preparation list - well, I did yesterday so a tick in the box for one day at least. Who knows about today.

Good to hear you’re feeling better grandmattie

Best wishes to all, have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:46:36

Good morning from a grey and chilly corner of S E Essex.

The Imp has just woken up, I shall wait for his breakfast order!

I have another appointment with the optician this morning, they forgot to do a fields test during my appointment on Friday 🤦‍♀️

I may (or may not) get the ironing board out (bedding no socks or dusters 😹)

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️

grandMattie Tue 17-Mar-26 06:46:54

Yes, Melanie. The wretched gender issue. Make absolutely sure that you read every word very carefully and turn the page!
Only three of our membership will be signing.

It is the deceitful and hasty way that it was all done by National that troubles me. We are asked to vote whether we want to make sure we clean our teeth or have more public loos, but not asked to vote about something as this?

Sorry. I’m very sad and angry.

Melanie61 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:52:08

GrandMattie, surely it will come up this evening.
Thankyou for the advice

WhiteSwan63 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:56:19

Good morning from the east coast and we have a very mild day today.

Yesterday mum’s little dog had the stitches out of her paw and now mum just has to make sure she doesn’t lick it excessively for a few days. When we got home she started licking it so mum went to put on the cone collar and of course little dog hated it. Every time she went to lick it the threat was there mum sat the cone collar next to the dog. It was hilarious watching her look everywhere but at the cone collar. Hopefully all is well. I’ll message mum later.

This morning my hairdresser is coming to do roots and hi lights. I have to wash it off myself though as she doesn’t have time. I’m going to Home Bargains this afternoon as I need to start making up a bucket of duck food ready for the Easter hols with DGS. So will collect seeds and dry corn, mealworms etc. it has to be gluten free so I can’t buy prepared duck food. I’m always scared GS will put his hands in his mouth while feeding them.

Wishing a day with moments of joy for everyone 🌼

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I had the final Diabetes Prevention session yesterday, which I have been attending for the last 9 months. OH is due to attend at some point.

I have a batch of chicken stock to box, label and freeze today. It should have cooled down after bubbling away for 3 hours yesterday.

OH will visit his bees this afternoon while I call on friends.

I have also watched the first five episodes of the Other Bennet Sister. I have read the book and they’ve obviously had to cut quite a lot of it.

Have a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.

madeleine45 Tue 17-Mar-26 06:59:13

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a dry still grey morning in North Yorkshire. But at least we see the mornings lightening up earlier which is cheering.

Another rubbish night, (so whats new? ) so gave up and got up early, am now dressed with washer going, and fingers crossed hope to get it out on the line before we get any rain. If it clears up I may venture to handwash my precious cashmere jumpers, as fingers crossed ,my back is not so bad this morning.

Yesterday I had planned to use the yellow peril to go shopping, saving fuel etc, but when I looked I needed quite a lot of heavy things such as milk and tonic water and various things that were quite bulky, which I didnt think I could manage to carry safely on the buggy so went in the car and wonder of wonder there were a few bits and pieces that have been out of stock for a long time, so I actually did have quite a successful shop and then went to the surgery , where wonder of wonder , managed to get an appointment for this friday to see the doctor. Pleased about sorting that I arrived home and emptied the shopping and needed to ring a friend. Looked at my phone to see 2 missed calls from the surgery, and a text telling me the appointment was cancelled!!! I rang them straight away and the receptionist had booked me in, before the doctor had had to come through and cancelled all that mornings bookings for some reason or other. But relief relief, She was able to switch me to another doctor so still going on friday am but a bit earlier which doesnt bother me!

From an ordinary week this week things have swiftly altered. I had an email about the talking newspaper group and they want me to observe the march zoom meeting ready to take part myself in the april one. Am very happy to do the reading etc, but not used zoom so want to speak to someone who knows all about it to see what I need to do. Then on thursday I have the usual womens meeting, which should, fingers crossed, be the lovely yoga lady who is so good, and will be glad to remind myself of calming ways, followed by the library in the afternoon for the university students thing. On friday the doctors and then on saturday I am taking my friend to Middlesborough to the hospital. Before that I will have to get some fuel, having been holding back in the hopes that things might improve a bit, but cant risk running out of fuel on the way there and it is so important that she gets seen having waited for so long for this appointment. Spoke to her and she was having a bad migraine day so was glad that we did have that lovely day on saturday. The rest of the time is my own!!

After I had got all the shopping stashed away I had a check round the kitchen, going through the vegetable rack and the fridge , checking on dates and throwing the odd bit away, and had some chicken and vegetable soup for lunch. The afternoon seemed to rush by with nothing much to show for it, but felt very tired. This poor sleeping also means that I feel exhausted and want to go to sleep about 5/6pm which I have to resist in hopes of getting back to a better sleeping pattern.

Today a main thing is to find my passport, which seems to have disappeared, to check when it is out of date. Should have written that down somewhere but cant remember exact date but know it is sometime soon. I have decided to be an optimist and renew it, with the fond hope that I may still travel for a while, and hope for some great bargain offer that I cant resist. The daffodils are looking good outside and my lovely little miniatures are cheering my borders in my small bit, so when I put the washing out, I shall walk round my estate and inspect them. (take me all of five minutes!) There is plenty of ironing, which seems to have accumulated without my noticing to attend to, but as I have plenty of clean underwear and t shirts etc the impetus to get on with that is missing. It might get a look in this afternoon if the rain appears.

Hope you have a good trip into Bicester Mick. GrandMattie, pleased that you are feeling a little better and have got through the wi meeting ok. If you manage to organise your own similar meeting it might actually be better if you are not restricted to the wi rules but make your own. Whenever I was knitting jumpers I always did the two sleeves at the same time. That way at least they always matched, if I made a mistake and put more or less rows on. I found the sleeves the hardest as previously once I had got to the end of one sleeve I didnt want to start the other one! Ashcombe hope all goes well at the theatre and you enjoy Blithe spirit. I remember Margaret Rutherford being in it many years ago. Karmalady , hope the wind blows enough to dry things out quickly for you and allow you to get out and about a bit. Bellasnana , children seem to be fascinated with dinasaurs at all ages. Both as a mum and a teacher I found that they loved to be involved with them whether reading about them or drawing them etc., and yes ,woe betide me if I gave the incorrect title to one as they would all be quick to tell me the correct name. I think they found them fascinating and rather liked to learn the long or complicated names for them. Years ago, when teaching a junior class , a very successful term was spent looking at the village through the ages and we made scenes and models of how it might have looked over time. They learnt how to look things up and so we then had models of the 1950's 1900's and 1800's but of course the favourite was the imagined view of the area before the village existed, and I was surprised to learn how many different dinasours took up residence in the area!

Well no sun but the day is brightening and now a bit of a breeze in the tree so fingers crossed might do well with the washing drying outside. So much nicer than having to dry it inside. Hopefully an improving day. Hope that you all have an improving day too and can enjoy your day

Greyduster Tue 17-Mar-26 07:02:14

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it will be dry today and perhaps we shall see the sun.

I spent a very enjoyable afternoon yesterday drinking coffee with a friend I don’t often see, though we are in touch regularly. On the way home I got a phone message to say that Ofsted are in the school I volunteer at for the next two days so I won’t be needed until Friday. So… I have a free day today and will probably do some gardening and give my car a much needed clean. I must also pay my subscription for the council’s garden waste service.

Ash I love Blithe Spirit - fancied myself in the role of Madame Arcati!

Have the best day you can, folks.

Our WI has its AGM tomorrow. I’m sort of glad I’m not on the committee anymore! However, I am in charge of updating our section of the National data base and apparently an extra column has been added for this new information. I’m afraid I haven’t had time to have a look yet!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s grey at the moment but is supposed to be sunny and milder later. Yesterday didn’t go according to plan. I started out with flowers, scissors, gloves etc to go the churchyard to put the flowers on my DH’s grave. Unfortunately I knocked my leg on the rollator and had to go home to clean the cut and change my jeans. I’m still trying to get the blood out of the hall carpet! I’ll try again today! My back wasn’t happy at the unexpected bending so I did very little for the rest of the day.

Hope today is better!

grandmattie the WI are certainly causing some problems for their members aren’t they. Our village WI closed some years ago, due to lack of new members.

grannygravy I hope your opticians appointment goes well today.

nannyjan have a lovely holiday.

Thinking of all those who are in difficult situations and hoping for an improvement for you. I hope marydoll is ok.

Have as good a day as possible everyone, hopefully some sunshine and a little warmth for us all!

Gingster Tue 17-Mar-26 07:25:38

Good morning all and it’s rather overcast here in Essex.

Yesterday two lots of good news…. Seaside cottage has sold 😢 and grandson passed his driving test. 🥳.

DS1 came home early from work to head for A and E. He’s tried multiple times to get a GP appointment which each time has been cancelled.. Last summer while on holiday in Malta got an ear infection, which has never really cleared up. Now it’s time for more investigation..

Today Dh is going out for breakfast with his old pal and I’m going to Bridge this afternoon.

Hoping you all have a worry-free day.🌱

Gingster Tue 17-Mar-26 07:27:42
