Good morning from a “noisy” Bristol. The dawn chorus is loud this morning, but I love it!
fgt, I’m so happy for you that you are finding your feet and are being so well supported. It’s hard at first. Courage mon brave!
Yesterday was as wearing as I expected. Spanish was ok, but my brain was functioning on about 60%, so not really doing so well.i was very anxious about that “not the”WI meeting regarding our breakaway group. So far only 3 of the membership has signed up for 2026/7; most of the rest have refused to sign up.
Our time was taken up with legalities, constitution, careful wording, finding out about setting up a new women’s group, etc., All very sad and difficult. Interestingly, every one of us would probably rejoin in a heartbeat if things change.
The ladies left giving me barely an hour to tidy up, prepare and eat dinner before going off to my Lent group. I have yet to find a group that does what I crave; more actual study, less “how do you feel”. Oh, well.
This morning, I am serving coffee at church. If the weather is nice, I might sit out for an hour or so, but I shall be carrying on with the tedious finishing off stuff for my quilt. I want it done to put in the fete raffle at the end of April.
Sad that MD is having such a rough time, and hugs to you all in need.

Good morning, cold and very foggy here in south Glos, I can barely see the houses opposite.
Yesterday a friend took me to art group, it was lovely to get out. I didn’t do any painting, chatted a bit. Still dreadfully breathless, even when sitting down.
I did spend the afternoon in the Shed, doing more embroidery, and enjoying the work that the gardener has done, so pleased with the results.
In bed by 7, exhausted, slept better.
Today I want to plan my next embroidery.
Have a lovely weekend x
🌹

Good morning from Shropshire.Another sunny day forecast.

The children enjoyed playing in the garden when we got home yesterday. When they came in they were winding each other up to the point where DGD only had to look at H and he exploded🤦🏼‍♀️

Today we are going to see mum.Hopefully DD1 feels up to going. We will meet DD2 there.

Thinking of all with mountains to climb and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning from Lancashire. It's the Spring Equinox today and it's lovely to see the early Spring flowers....forsythia and daffodils are everywhere.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny, cold wind and dry

Roses I would love to see a picture of your embroidery

MD I do admire you and DH. I do think that that ddil will settle soon. She and her dh have role models

Allotment and tip for me this morning and I want to prep a space at home for a blackcurrant bush called Big Ben, I only need one

Much better sleep last night, no screens at all after 8 and instead I carried on with making my kitchen tidy, sink spotless and sd bread ready to bake this morning

Morning Mick, morning All from a misty corner of Somerset. Sunshine is forecast for much of the day.

My volunteer stint flew past yesterday morning, a supermarket lunch before we gathered enough food for an army - you’d think we had ten coming to stay rather than two - back home I sorted the ironing while Mr C dealt with a sticking shed lock.

A thorough bungalow clean this morning and would you believe another trip to a shop later. I managed to forget the mushrooms I need for a beef casserole for tomorrow. As Mr C said all is not lost, it’s not far (we could walk but probably won’t) and it gives him another excuse to stop for a coffee.

Thinking of all managing challenges. Have the best day you can everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 21-Mar-26 06:11:43

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I didn’t do much yesterday apart from collecting a parcel from Waitrose and buying petrol - agh!!!

Today I am attending a Memorial service for one of the WI ladies who was 99 when she died. She was so looking forward to her 100th later this year, but sadly it wasn’t to be.

Have a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 16°C.

It was such a pleasant day yesterday that I decided to walk to the hairdresser which takes about 25 minutes. I enjoyed it as the sun was not too hot although the return journey is uphill which was more of a challenge. My bones ache today!

Had a visit from DD3 and the boys who always cheer me up they are so sweet. DGS1 had left his dinosaur book in Lidl which caused great upset but DD3 went back and retraced their steps, eventually finding it neatly placed on a shelf by the checkout! He’d forgotten where he’d left it.

I went to bed at 9 in order to be up at 1.30 to watch Alcaraz playing in the Miami Open. They’ve had torrential rain which has caused some matches to be delayed so I was pleased he was on time with no rain to stop play.

A bit of cleaning is on the cards today plus a pop to the corner shop for milk and bread.

Thinking of all with troubles and ill health. I hope you have the best day you can.☀️

Good morning from the east coast.
I’ve had a bad night sleep. DH decided to sleep in my bed last night and I didn’t sleep well at all. For many reasons mostly due to him liking watching tv before bed we now sleep separately. He also says I keep him awake with my snoring. So I was careful not to sleep on my back which kept me awake. He’s such a quiet sleeper he’s like a little kitten. He’s had a great night sleep and is still fast asleep upstairs.

This morning we are doing our big shop as the fridge is empty. This afternoon we are helping mum open her static caravan for the new season. It helps with her chest being at the coast with the sea air and she will be there until October. We are invited to our best friend’s house this evening for a takeaway and drinks and to meet their new adopted dog.
I’m just enjoying the view of the beautiful pink magnolia outside the window. I do love the spring with all the blossom appearing.

Wishing a lovely Saturday with moments of joy for you all 🌼🌹

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a misty grey but gradually lightening morning in North Yorkshire.

Yesterday did not go as I planned, but I certainly saw some changes when I got to see the doctor! She was new to me , but I gather part of the practise and not a locum. So whether it was a case of a mix of the new broom and my situation, or things should have been altered before I dont know. She was concerned about the amount of cramps I am having and where they are , more as a symptom of something else than in themselves and so hopefully all this change may help So she seemed concerned about various things, is saying that my medication needs altering , did my blood pressure on that horrible new thing that is so tight and quite painful that I expect my blood pressure went up using it! She did not like the result, and repeated it, which was a bit better. I have a blood pressure machine that I had to get when I had that problem with my leg a couple of years ago, and asked me to use it over the next four days twice in the morning and again in the evening, and she would then ring me etc. I also got weighed and was somewhat shocked at the result and need to lose a stone, which had crept up over the winter. Not really so surprising as havent been able to do much with my back and knees being bad so a vicious circle.

Then I had to go back for the blood test at 1150, which I was there promptly for but didnt get seen for nearly 20 minutes due to some emergency elsewhere, and one way and another I didnt get home until nearly 1pm. Felt shattered and so far cannot find the wretched machine either, having looked in all the places I expected to find it, so that has to be the task for the day first. As they say be careful what you wish for!! I had hoped for some simple explanation followed by some tablets or medication, not all this palaver, but I suppose it has made me go to the doctors so perhaps to my benefit.

After all this I hope for a calmer and better day today, and plan to go to the market and get the Yorkshire post, hopefully the weather will improve a bit. On the weather forecast most other areas had a better day than us yesterday, so hope this chill and mist dont hang around. Well I shall cheer myself up by going to the book sale this afternoon, and need to try and get organised this morning and fancy some curry for tonight, so will hopefully get all the ingredients together and make that before going out. Before that I must go round the flat methodically looking for the blooming machine, and that will also no doubt find some missing bits and pieces and with a bit of luck will help to tidy some cupboards up as I go. Nothing exciting but I definitely need a quieter day.

Hope you enjoy the racing Mick. Spring is also heralded around here by a large increase in lycra bound cyclists everywhere across the moors and up and down the dales . I think the yorkshire races up and over the Buttertubs showed some people lovely countryside that they did not know about and many are visiting for the first time. Hope the finishing off of the quilt goes well grandMattie and lets you move onto something more enjoyable. Glad you managed to get out RosesandLilac

Well the mist seems to be settling and no sign of sun, so looks as though it will need warm things on yet again and even might rain, so I wont be lingering on the market and am glad of the thought of the booksale to cheer the day. I hope some of you are having a better day weatherwise and that everyone has some success today whether finishing a job or meeting friends or family. Have the best day you can

Grandmabatty Sat 21-Mar-26 06:56:33

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and clear. There's some frost on the cars. Susan I have that experience with the boys at times. Dgs1 just has to look at dgs2 and there are ructions. corner when I have visitors, I never knowingly underfeed. 😂
Yesterday I did a stint in the school library then visited dd to show off the new car. She has ordered new mats for me for it. The rest of the day, I pottered about and read up what all the different buttons were for(forgotten already).
Today I have an aldi trip to look forward to and my usual Saturday routine of bed stripping and washing and housework. I might make chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. I’ve been watching the glorious sunrise, so good for the soul.

The down side of the gorgeous sunshine is that I can now see the disgraceful state of my windows. I must try to clean them but I’ve never been able to not leave streaks although I’ve tried every method over the years, not important really, just irritating.

DH is getting very bored now and his knee still looks horrendous but it is healing so he’ll have to be patient. I’ve been able to have lovely long dog walks, such a simple pleasure in dry weather.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Gagagran Sat 21-Mar-26 07:01:55

Good Morning all from a chilly (one degree) but sunny and clear, central south coast. Looks like another lovely day in store!

A fellow choir alto, who fell out of her back door some weeks ago, and broke the head of her humerus has asked me to visit her for coffee next week. She has been unable to have a cast given the position of the break, so has had to wear a close fitting sling to support it. I think she has cabin fever, is missing choir and needs a chat. We can compare notes about our arm/shoulder injuries and have a gossip about choir issues!.

A quiet weekend is planned here, with just the usual house and self maintenance on the cards. No doubt something else will turn up - it always does.

Thinking of all our strugglers and hoping for some comfort and ease for all. Really admire FGT and her positive posts. I am sure she has some dark solo moments. A strong lady and Himself would be very proud. flowers

Good morning from Sheffield

We had a great time at the Ross Noble show, a funny man. We went to a Mexican burrito cafe for tea,it was delicious.

It’s match day so am on my own. I have bought some bags of compost so I intend to top up my planters and also do a bit more weeding.

I am making burgers for tea, and then relax for the rest of the day

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from a bright, still Cornwall where I'm enjoying the new phone my son gave me yesterday. It has a much better camera than my old one.

Yesterday was a doddle of a grandparenting day involving simply walking the eight-year-old back from school for two minutes, then he went out to play and I enjoyed two hours in my son's lovely lounge fiddling with this phone.

Home on a bus packed with vibrant students and later I spotted bright Jupiter, Castor and Pollux between my tree branches.

Today I must finish packing for a trip to Torquay next week and go to a nearby station to buy my ticket and have some queries answered. I see that there's a memorial plaque on the platform and that the station cat's house has gone. Oh dear, he will be missed. Before that, breakfast on my patio swing seat and an attempt to impart to the robins the fact that I shan't be around for a few days.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, there’s a bit more cloud around today but it’s dry
Sorry to hear you’re still so breathless roses, I hope something can be done to help soon
Good that you’re getting a thorough check up madeleine
We’re going away this weekend, just one night in a nice hotel in Aberdeenshire so looking forward to a change of scenery and exploring somewhere new. Once we’re up and ready we’ll set off and stop along the way for breakfast or brunch, hoping to arrive at the hotel mid afternoon and just chill out in the different surroundings there
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a bright and sunny Crewe where we are spending the weekend with my DD2 and family.

A good journey by train brought us here to be met by DSIL who works from home. We enjoyed a Chinese takeaway with him and DGS2 whilst DD2 and DGD were at The Regent Theatre in Hanley for the latter to dance with The English Youth Ballet in Coppélia. DD2 helps as a chaperone and will go back with DGD for a matinée this afternoon before we all gather to watch the final performance tonight. They arrived back from last night’s show full of tales of minor mishaps backstage but on the high common after a successful performance.

Needless to say, the house is very quiet at the moment with DH and I being the only ones awake.

Happy weekend, everyone, with thoughts of those who are struggling. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Relieved to say yesterday’s visit to the opticians went well. I need a lot more drops in my eyes which should help all round. A bit of chaos ensued as apparently I had turned up a week early for a free NHS test, a member of staff told me I would have to pay if my eyes hadn’t changed!! After my examination the lady said I was eligible for a free test even though I didn’t need new glasses. What a palaver.
Today is shopping catch up, I seem to be out of everything. Curry to follow this evening
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cold and a bit misty, but blue sky is visible above the mist so hope it will be sunny soon!
Yesterday’s mist and low cloud eventually cleared but it wasn’t as sunny as earlier in the week.
baubles I attempted to clean the inside of the kitchen windows yesterday, I won’t know how successful I was until the sun comes out again. Unfortunately I’m not now able to reach the tops of the windows, even on a small step stool. I don’t dare get on a ladder!

madeleine nice to hear of a doctor actually trying to find out what’s causing your cramps etc rather than just giving you tablets to take. I hope you find your blood pressure monitor soon.

marydoll I’m really sorry that you’re have such a tough time at the moment. I hope you managed to find your Ddil some suitably loose clothes and that she continues to make progress, albeit very slowly. I hope you feel better soon.

cornergran I hope you enjoy your few days with friends.

I’ve nothing planned for today, hope to see DD2 and her family over the weekend as her eldest was 8 yesterday and had a party at Lush, making bath bombs! DD1’s girls are at their dance and drama classes for 3 hours so she probably won’t come over today. I might try to carefully repot a shrub into a bigger pot and possibly do a bit more gardening.

Thinking of those who are struggling.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Sat 21-Mar-26 07:39:36

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. It was frosty when I got up and a mist soon developed which has rapidly disappeared. A lovely day for the first one of spring, a good omen for the rest of the season?
The boiler man appeared early yesterday and all is fine for another year...I hope.
As soon as he went, I went off to the garden centre. The new dash cams chirruped at me so must be working.
I told myself I would not buy any plants but only the practical items I needed. Fat chance! The first things I clapped eyes on were the orchids, they had a display of unusual, non-Phaelonopsis ones. I had to have one, a beautiful purple and green petalled one. Then it was outside to glance at the new stock. That included fruit bushes. I spotted gooseberry bushes and remembered a mention of gooseberry crumble on another thread so one of those went in the trolley too. Crumbles are the only way I enjoy gooseberries. I ended up with one or two other items too and a largish bill. What a pity it is that all our lovely berries have disappeared from the stores, it's a long time since I've spotted redcurrants, blackcurrants, gooseberries etc.

After lunch, I planted out the gooseberry having found a suitable spot to squeeze it in, then I forked over the remainder of the bordet ready for sowings of peas and beans.

Today I must go into town yet again to chase the shortfall in pills and get some cash and the weekend papers. Hopefully some gardening later but there's admin to sort out too.

Wishing you all a good day and a better one for all of you struggling.

Grammaretto Sat 21-Mar-26 07:43:42

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
The sun is streaming in!

I'm viewing a flat first thing but I don't think I could cope without a garden.

Yesterday was non-stop. After my shift at the store, 10 ladies from the U3A came for a pottery lesson. While that was going on , an estate agent showed a prospective buyer around my house.
Time for a brief sit-down and chat to DGD who was recovering from her appendix op, before preparing dinner for my 2 friends. A lovely dinner party. DS video called from NZ in the middle.

I hope you find your tribe eventually gMatte although I suspect nothing is perfect.

Have a good day everyone. Enjoy the warm weather.

BlueSapphire Sat 21-Mar-26 07:45:12

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; another load of washing in the machine already, having done three loads yesterday. Just one more lot to do!

Spent most of yesterday unpacking and sorting the washing, and putting stuff away, and the house is getting back into some sense of order. Had a Waitrose delivery late afternoon, and as I could not be bothered to cook last night I had ordered one of their Biryani ready meals which was very nice. Nothing on tv so I caught up with some of the programmes recorded while away.

A live rugby match to go to this afternoon, home to grab something to eat, then out to see DD play in her concert band - an evening of Music from the Movies, which should be good.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

monk08 Sat 21-Mar-26 07:50:29

Good morning all from the Black country where once again it is misty, hopefully like yesterday it will clear and be a nice sunny day.
I need to go into town for the post office I have a large letter that needs weighing and a cheque to pay into the bank, I do miss these now that are no longer at the local shops having been replaced by vape and nail shops☹.
Friends coming later and we shall go over to the club for a couple of hours.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later ☀️.

Georgesgran Sat 21-Mar-26 07:51:08

Good morning from Durham. Another grey start and as the heating has kicked in, it must be cold.
Yesterday’s funeral and my Solicitor appointment (not related) went well. DD1 is coming over sometime today, to collect a gift for her niece in law who is 21. Otherwise a quiet day - I’m sorting through handbags to donate - six already to go.
I hope MD gets some rest over the weekend.

Best wishes to all. X
