Good morning from a cloudy Black Country, where it is trying to rain.

Over to Mums today, mainly to pop to Lidl for her weekly shop, which is less now as I order Wiltshire Farm Foods for her lunches, which are put in microwave by the Carer who comes in 5 days a week at lunchtime. No visit from her Tuesdays or Wednesdays as myself or brother visit Tuesdays, and she goes to the Day Centre on Wednesdays, where apart from the activities she has a cooked 2 course lunch. Of course she can never remember what she did or what she ate by the time I call her around 5pm!

Also had a call from her Surgery last week, they are arranging her medication to be delivered each week in Blister packs. That will be one job less to think about, ordering and collecting. Really must ring them today to see when it starts.

You are so talented gM. I can just about sew a button on!

Thinking of you today Roses we are all here rooting for you flowers

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Just popping in quickly to wish Roses all the very best for today. Lovely quilt GM Also thinking of Bellasnana and Susan. Sending best wishes also to all those worrying and struggling that I haven’t mentioned.

I need to be up early we are off to a Safari park with DD2 and the little ones. I am making the picnic for us all which may need to be eaten in DH new car, his face is frosty already 😳.

Hope the day goes well for everyone 🙏🌷

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dry and the sun is making an effort to join the party.

Yesterday I felt ill from the get-go and the weather didn’t help. I managed to do some ironing, and little gardening between showers and then fell asleep in a chair, only waking when GS rang to find for a chat.

I had a surprise phone call from an old friend. He’s not in good health but we always find a lot to laugh about. We were neighbours in Holland when he and DH were both serving soldiers and have been friends since - almost 48 years now. It lifted my spirits to hear from him. He’s the only person who still insists on ringing me on my landline and the reason I still have a landline! As soon as it rings I know who it is going to be.

Not sure what I will do today. Laundry, gardening probably and then a phone call scheduled with another friend from way back when. It will be a long one!

I am another who watched “The Garden of a Thousand Bees”. It was beautiful and mesmerising. I will never look at bees in the same way again. He is the same film maker who made “The Birds” - also on iPlayer - which was equally enthralling.

Roses💐💐.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all, it's 10°C here in Glasgow.

Another awful night, but wanted to pop in to send my best wishes to Roses, for what will be a very challenging day. I do hope you have someone to hold your hand. 💐

Enjoy your day, folks.

Good morning from Sheffield

Well, I have succumbed to DH cold.

Good morning from a dry NE after heavy overnight rain.
My hairdresser is coming this morning for my cut and blow dry.
DS is coming this afternoon after a half day's work but has to have an online meeting so will need to spend some time in the study before he takes me shopping.
SIL is travelling to the UK today and DD travelling tomorrow, her work commitments didn't allow them to travel together.

Thinking of you today Roses 💐

Gagagran Tue 31-Mar-26 07:43:33

Good Morning all from the central south coast. The temperature is still low but warming up and we may see 16 degrees later.

Roses you will be virtually accompanied to your appointment today with large numbers of supportive Grans. Keep positive whatever the outcome and we will be there on the journey, wherever it takes you. flowers

The hearing aid my DH got 2 weeks ago has been a huge success. I recommend anyone else with a "deaf but in denial" DH to do whatever it takes, whether carrot or stick, to get him to an audiologist. He keeps commenting on what he can hear now that he could not before but I think the best thing is that he not only listens and hears me but also has the TV sound turned down from blasting out!

Some lucky person will win your colourful quilt GM and admires your creative skills as much as I do. I still treasure the tote bag you made for me with my Yorkshire white rose on it. Hope the FAB cafe goes well tomorrow and you have enough baking to satisfy the hordes!

May today bring some ease and comfort to all with pain, struggles and worries of any kind. sunshine

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

We thoroughly enjoyed the film, Mother's Pride, yesterday. It was a lovely, gentle story.

Today, DH is doing a hospital drive and I am going to choir and then a group of us go to a cafe in the village for coffee and cake.

Have the very best day possibke, everyone.

Morning from a cloudy S Hants. So much patience gM.
Thoughts with you today Roses x
End of a large chapter Susan it must feel odd.
Yesterday the voluntary phone was averagely busy, but finding drivers was very hard work, holidays and other commitments.
Today we’re meeting a friend out for coffee, I need to get some steps in.
I hope pantglas is ok.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a still ,grey, and cold morning in North Yorkshire. It is the bin day today and I was getting ready for bed last night, when I suddenly realized I hadnt put my rubbish out and so had to stick my dressing gown on and get them sorted and put out and so then felt wide awake when I got into bed!

Yesterday I was struggling for much of the day, despite taking painkillers. I ended up going to Aldi, and got my little buggy out and bags etc and showed the lady on the till that my bags were empty and then went round trying to become more familiar with their layout, and finding a way of being able to open the doors to the chilled area and reach for items . It was very difficult to reach things whilst keeping the door open too , and I need to work out a better way. Couldnt get up and down from the buggy, too painful, but that is the point of having it. Anyway got quite a reasonable amount of things I needed and then home to sort it out and put it away.

In the afternoon it was very windy but a little warmer with some sunshine and I was determined to do something in the garden. So got the fold up chair out - which has a metal frame, and by putting that close to the border and moving it along, I managed to take my secateurs and deadhead all my miniature daffodils , which didnt seem to last too long. It is important to take the flower heads off and let the leaves take in the sun and feed the bulbs for next year. So I was quite pleased with my efforts, and at least sat out for the first time this year to enjoy a bit of sunshine. Then I made a bit more effort and went round several of the beds in the communal garden bit deadheading the daffodils there too, which the so called gardeners never do, again to give us a better show next year. Doesnt sound much and nowhere near the way I was able to garden in the past but pleasing to have done something. If the weather improves this afternoon I will attempt to do a bit more outside and hopefully plant the violas and pansies which have been languishing in their pots waiting for my attention.

This morning, once I have done the basic chores I am getting down to the ironing, as I can sit and do that and enjoy some music, while warming up on a chilly morning. Was tempted by the forecast of a better afternoon to go to Harlow Carr , but still struggling to move easily and the cost of fuel etc., has put that idea off for today. It will be busy with easter things for families this week and so I shant venture out to anywhere it is going to be busy. Although I am on the edge of a town, our little cul de sac is very peaceful generally, and one thing about waking early is that if I need to go to a supermarket I often go very early and get home before it gets busy, as I am no fan of shopping or looking in shop windows etc.

I heard from my son and he is somewhat frustrated with his hand and wrist still wrapped up and that difficulty to do things . We all just accept our ability to do many things without thinking about it until something like this happens. Anyway with the holidays, the cost of fuel etc we are not planning to meet up just at the moment but hopefully in a week or two will organise something.

There are one or two gardens open in the yellow book but again the cost of fuel etc is making me think twice about going. I think it will definitely affect how many people go and visit them, not only the cost of the fuel but the fact that we are not sure how fuel availability is going to go. The yellow book and visiting gardens were my major extravagance , as I dont do a lot of driving far in the winter or autumn, and loved going to see the gardens and arranging to meet friends too. But this year so far, nothing organised. Many of the gardens are in places that you would need to drive to, or are some distance from bus stops etc and so I will have to investigate and see which places I might manage to get to by bus. Ah well will just have to see how things go. Well the sun is finally making an appearance and the lovely Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams is playing on radio 3 so things begin to cheer up a little.

Hope you have a good trip this morning Mick. Your live music occasion sounds fun GrandMattie, we could do with something like that here. Wish there was a dancing group round here to go to as it would galvanise me into moving about more , enjoying it rather than thinking all the time of the least painful way to move. Bellasnana , it is always hard saying goodbye but at least these days you will hear quickly that they have arrived safely. I remember when we arrived in Damascus and the phones were not working for quite a long time, and I could only write a letter about our journey and then I managed to get through on the following afternoon to my mother , who had been very worried that she hadnt heard from us until then. We are lucky to have a variety of ways to get in touch these days .Susan56, I am glad for you that the house has sold. There is always some sadness letting go, but you will benefit from no longer having it to worry about and have to check up on and do jobs there. Hope that gives you a little more time for yourself. Hoping there is no delay for Roses today and things go as well as they are able to .

Wishing everyone a day of satisfaction, whether that is a job finally sorted at last or a meeting with friends . Hope the weather improves throughout the day and we may all be cheered by the signs of spring.

Good morning from a grey W Kent where I have been up half the night with indigestion leading to sickness. Not sure what is going on. Quiet day ahead
All the best Roses

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went as well as these things do, a very emotional time for our granddaughters. We were so grateful for our chauffeur, the traffic coming back was dire putting extra time on the journey.

Routine today, grocery delivery, some dust removal, a haircut this afternoon. I suspect there will be an afternoon nap for Mr C. We’re both a little weary.

We’re all with you roses, love and hugs.

Your quilt made me smile grandmattie, green is a favourite here

Best wishes to all.

Redcar Tue 31-Mar-26 07:21:33

Good morning everyone from a dry but very cloudy mid Essex. A grey showery day is forecast. We had sunshine yesterday with a few showers and a cold wind. The window cleaner came but it rained about 5 minutes after he’d finished my windows!

roses thinking of you today and hoping that the news isn’t as bad as feared.

bellasnana a long day’s travelling for your DS and his partner and a long wait for you until you know they’ve arrived safely. I hope they enjoy their new life in Bulgaria.

susan enjoy the rest of your mini break! I’m sure you have mixed feelings about the sale of your mother’s house, and with such a quick completion on the sale, no time for a last visit. I’m sure you won’t miss the 100 mile round trip to the house!

granmattie well done for finishing the quilt! You have a busy day’s baking ahead!

Thinking of those with medical and other problems and hope the day brings some comfort for you.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ashcombe Tue 31-Mar-26 07:19:02

Good morning from Torbay where we have a brightish sky interspersed with pretty clouds.

Sending good thoughts to RosesandLilac today and hoping the support from your friends here will sustain you through the appointment. 💐

Safe travels to your DS and his girlfriend, Bellasnana, not forgetting Winston. Perhaps you could visit once they are settled?

I shall go to Props today at the theatre whilst DH will take himself out for a mooch around Exeter, using buses and trains.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning all from the Black country.
Boiler service today anytime between 8 & 1 so it's a waiting around day.
Lovely quilt grandMattie.
Thinking of you today Roses 💐🤞.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

GrandmaC47 Tue 31-Mar-26 07:13:24

I love your quilt, grandMattie.
Sending hugs, Roses and to all with sadness in their lives today.

Good morning from a calm, dry Durham, where a bit of sun is forecast later.
My cold had left me with a very annoying, unproductive cough.
Chiropodist this afternoon, then dropping my car off tonight, ready for some advisory work tomorrow.
Thinking of Roses - deep breaths.

Best wishes to all. X

RosesandLilac Tue 31-Mar-26 06:57:40

Good morning, it’s been a long night….
What a beautiful quilt grandMattie, I would never have the patience or the attention to detail that quilt making needs.
Thank you all so much for all your support and kindness, all the lovely messages - you honestly have no idea how much it means to me. I have to admit I am very scared this morning.
Yesterday I had a cup of tea with a wonderful new friend who I actually knew many years ago from work, an amazing lady. She and her husband have a house tucked away with incredible views down across the valley, she’s said I can simply go and sit and gaze whenever I like, so incredibly kind.
Anyway, let’s see what today brings….much love to you all xx

karmalady Tue 31-Mar-26 06:56:02

Good morning from cloudy and dry s somerset

Roses you have a supporting army behind you

A lovely eight hours of continuous sleep again last night, I think I will keep my bed and wake times all through the year, I am my own master so can do that

What a lovely calm day it was yesterday, spinning for a time and also plying two bobbins. The photos show my wheel which is an Ashford wee peggy, I built that myself over Christmas/new year after my husband died. It took me weeks and is so smooth and steady. I can pedal quite slow and get enough twist into the yarn. She is rhythmic and calming

The other photo is a plied bobbin and the fluff I start with. That fluff has to be from 2012 and I ordered the combo from world of wool, the days when you could specify your own blend. It is bamboo/fine merino/blue faced Leicester/tussah silk. So nice to spin and I am aiming for rustic two ply, as in 2 threads plied, no idea of the finished thickness yet

I am glad my spinning mojo came back. My hobbies always run in cycles and I will be spinning outdoors soon, in the sun

House is clean, I will just do the normal maintenance today and will spend 30 minutes in my sewing room, quick clean and tidy and putting dust covers back on. I did a walk yesterday and watched a bit of northern exposure, likely will do the same today

WhiteSwan63 Tue 31-Mar-26 06:48:59

Grandmattie you are so talented. I went off the gym yesterday with the tote bag you made for me a few years ago. I carry it with pride.

WhiteSwan63 Tue 31-Mar-26 06:45:42

Good morning from the east coast and it’s a dry mild day forecast. I am picking up DGS from his mother’s house later. We do all the running around. When my DH said last night where are you picking up GS from and I said his mother’s he rolled his eyes. I will take him to the usual 2 parks including feeding the ducks. He’ll be with me until about 12-30. His mother did send me a couple of lovely photos of him yesterday. I asked her about keeping his I pad charged up too.
This afternoon DD and the girls are coming over and staying for tea. They have been visiting friends in Essex all weekend so we will hear all about that.

Our best friend is back on the cancer ward in hospital. It took all day to get him from acute assessment to the ward. I drove over and took my friend a ham salad sandwich as she’d only had a bag of crisps all day. Their son was picking her up about 11pm to take her home as he’d taken them in early that morning as BF had taken a bad turn. I’ll message her later. She looked absolutely exhausted and was of course emotional. 🥲

Sending virtual hugs to friends feeling stressed and sad💐
Hoping there are moments of joy in your day today 🌼

Grandmabatty Tue 31-Mar-26 06:33:59

GrandMattie , my apologies for not mentioning your wonderful quilt. It is lovely and colourful. You are very talented indeed.

Grandmabatty Tue 31-Mar-26 06:32:27

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry. Dawn is just breaking. Roses we are all with you in spirit, if it helps. Bellasnana I think i would feel the same if either of mine moved country. Susan 💐 at least the house has sold and will save you having to worry about it.
Yesterday I had a fairly easy day. After the boys were dropped off, I made soup and pottered about. I tidied up the mayhem from them first thing- pens and paper everywhere- and hoovered. They are both enjoying drawing at the moment. I showed them the painting I'm doing for their uncle. Dgs1 approved, dgs2 didn't like it. When I asked why, he said it should be pink and purple (his favourite colours). After school/nursery, they did more drawing, played briefly in the back garden and played with that awful slime stuff. Dd had given it to me for them and I can see why!
Today will be more of the same. There's little point in tidying up too much till I take them home tonight. Have a good day all.

GillyMo Tue 31-Mar-26 06:32:25

Good morning from a cool Kent. I'm still finding the darker mornings a surprise since the clocks changed.

grandmattie I love your quilt. I don't find it garish at all but then I love green.

Today I'm going to work a little more on a knitted slipover. It's just a straightforward stocking stitch so it's relaxing to knit. I see Game of Wool are auditioning for the second series. I would love to be good enough to enter but sadly I'm nowhere near good enough. I should make more effort experimenting with different stitches and techniques.

Wishing everyone a happy and trouble-free day.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 31-Mar-26 06:07:40

Good morning all.
I have hardly slept so, as some of you are starting your day, I am hoping to get some sleep.
I too hope all is well with Pantglas and she is enjoying her “chamber pot” of tea somewhere.
I had a busy day yesterday with an unexpected but very welcome visitor, it cheered my afternoon up.
I also did some sorting of things to take away with me.
The weather is still looking unsettled for the Easter break.
My thoughts will be with Roses today, I have “been there and done that” for myself and my H.
Enjoy what you can of today.
