Good morning from a cloudy W Kent
Roses your serenity shines through, glad you are seeing your family soon.
Tea drinking with a friend this morning, and a large pile of ironing later.
Best wishes to all

Marzipan, none of our rhododrenons (and we have a few in the garden) are showing any signs of flowering yet.

Greyduster Wed 01-Apr-26 07:57:58

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is cloudy this morning but will be dry. The sun may show its face around three o’clock.

I had a run over to the garden centre yesterday to try and find a replacement for my favourite heuchera, which died this winter. It’s called Midnight Rose and is a real beauty. They didn’t have it but I’m assured they will in a couple of weeks so I’m hopeful. I came away with three new heathers to finish off the bed at the side of the drive and a new seed feeder for the birds, which they are showing no interest in at the moment. They are now giving all their attention to the pellet feeder which they have ignored up to now. Fickle creatures!!

In the evening I had a long and hilarious conversation with my friend in York. She was another of our neighbours in Holland - her DH was in the RAF. I’m looking forward to getting together with her later in the year.

Writer’s group this afternoon, and general bits and bobs.

Hugs for you, Roses. Along with all on here, you will be in my thoughts.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a brightening Suffolk where I have a busy day ahead. Yesterday my friend took me for coffee in a new very upmarket ‘retreat’ venue in a nearby village which had its opening the previous day, apparently hosting 250 people and opened by Gordon Ramsey.

I hope it does well but it doesn’t seem a good time to open such a venue and apparently some people who live in the village are against the development worrying about increased traffic and parking.

Today after my keep fit class I’m having coffee with 3 friends from the class and then driving for about 40 minutes to meet another friend for lunch. She lives in a village outside Norwich and the cafe where we meet is not too far for either of us.

Roses like others who have already posted,I admire your gentle acceptance of the information you received yesterday from the hospital and hope the plan for further investigations and proposed treatment helps.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey but dry Carlisle.

Yesterday I had a busy cleaning morning followed by work in the garden after lunch. I planted a shrub then sowed some early peas. The sun came out and the soil surface dried out rapidly. A lot of my time was taken up taking preventative measures against the new wretched cat that visits, it had started using my newly prepared veg border as a toilet so I have covered over the pea sowings temporarily.
No particular plans for today except for a walk shortly. I may start on some occasional jobs and get them ticked off my list...or I may do some reading.....

Roses...I hope all goes as well as possible for you in the future, I was so sorry to hear your suspicions confirmed.

Marzipan22 Wed 01-Apr-26 08:03:33

Marydoll presumably they'll suddenly burst forth just like our Cornish ones are doing. Last week there was no sign of them.

glammagran Wed 01-Apr-26 08:06:30

Good morning from an overcast Wiltshire.

I’m so sorry the worst has been confirmed to you Roses. I can’t believe how calm you appear to be. It will be lovely for you to have your DS and family with you over Easter.

Bella it is actually warmer in the UK than it is in Malta currently. Do homes there have heating? Enjoy Milo.

The GC’s were very good on Monday. We spent 90 minutes at the local play park in the afternoon. The sun was out and they wore themselves out. GS2 was frustrated he couldn’t go on that particular zipwire as he wasn’t quite tall enough. It took DH half an hour to reach their house (usually 10 minutes) to drop them off at 5:30 due to 4-way lights in the centre of town.

Yesterday I had an unsatisfactory appointment about having a vitrectomy for my terrible left eye. Apparently because the retina is ok they won’t do it on the NHS even though I can’t drive any longer or see at all well. So I’ll have to look into that.

Have a good day everyone.

roses hugs to you this morning

Good morning 🌞 everyone from the Scottish Borders.

Such a courageous post Roses. Wishing you well for the future.

I'm about to take my car to have it's MOT.
A busy day ahead with a possible 'nother viewing of my house.

I must find and send the right card to DGD whose birthday is Easter Sunday. I'll be seeing her then so maybe it can wait.

Don't make April fools of yourselves and I'll try not to.

Georgesgran Wed 01-Apr-26 08:12:14

Good Morning from a grey Durham. At least it’s dry.
No car today, so a friend is picking me up for coffee. I hope my car is ready later and not as expensive as it might be!
I hope you get those necessary procedures soon Roses.

Best wishes to all. X

RosesandLilac my thoughts are with you. Three years ago my younger, twin brothers both trod a similar path to yours.
I hope you will be supported by family and friends. flowers

monk08 Wed 01-Apr-26 08:18:46

Good morning all from the Black country.
Boiler serviced yesterday but he has advised we think about replacing it because of its age.
Had a nice surprise DS called round with the boys, didn't think we would see them before Easter as they go way today.
Nothing planned as yet for today will see what DH wants to do when he awakes.
Roses thinking of you 💐
Wishing you all a pleasant day☀️.

dragonfly46 Wed 01-Apr-26 08:26:02

Good morning from murky Leicestershire.

We are scooting down the M1 today to meet DD and pick up her dog who is coming for his Easter holidays.

Tonight it is NWR quite a distance away so pleased it is a bit lighter in the evening as I am driving. I must charge the car in between trips.

So sorry to hear your news Roses but hopefully things will get moving and you can start treatment soon.

baubles Wed 01-Apr-26 08:30:51

Good morning from dry and cool South Lanarkshire.

Such a calm response to your diagnosis Roses, I admire your courage and wish you strength.

My sister and I had a quiet day yesterday, just a walk around my little town with coffee and scones along the way.

Today I think we will go into Glasgow and visit Kelvingrove museum, she doesn’t remember ever having been there but I think her memory will be jogged.

Wishing everyone a good day.

GrannyIvy Wed 01-Apr-26 08:31:25

Good morning from Cambridgeshire.

Roses sending you a big hug 🤗
Marydoll hoping that things get easier for both you and your dil 🙏🌷

Yesterday we had a lovely day out with DD2 and the little ones the rhinos were very active and scary and we had our first picnic of the year outside. It was a long day and we finished it with a fish & chip supper something we rarely treat ourselves to!

Today DH is going out cycling and lunch with his friend and I am meeting two friends for brunch at a local garden centre. I may pop into see DD2 and the little ones before they return to their dad. They are then back with DD2 at 10 am Easter Sunday and we will cook roast dinner and do Easter activities.

Wishing a good day to all 💐

BlueSapphire Wed 01-Apr-26 08:37:13

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, with no prospect of it brightening up.
Yesterday was glorious, a perfect spring day, and I had worn a winter coat to join my walking group! - didn't have time to change it or I would have missed my bus! Luckily, a kind fellow walker put it in her car for me. We walked for our usual hour, did 3 miles, enjoying the lovely sunshine. On the way home I popped into the paper shop, paid my bill, then got new potatoes from the Co-op.

I made a lovely pea and ham soup for dinner using the left over gammon, and there is enough left for today.

Then I looked at my phone to find bad news. My DSIS, in hospital again after yet another fall, is refusing all food, liquids and painkillers, and is very weak. I have myself prepared for the worst. She is no longer independent, has dementia, and has been in a care home for the last 3/4 years. Hoping for better news today.

Hairdresser at lunchtime today for cut and colour, so I will have a late breakfast as I won't be home till about 3 o'clock. Hope she works her usual miracle!

Thinking of Roses as she faces her diagnosis with her calm serenity. 💐💐

Wishing all a pleasant April 1st.

Well one park done and it was locked so GS and I had to climb over. Luckily it’s only waist height. Those skills I learnt as a kid came in handy. I never knew I still had that ability but when my severely autistic grandson needs to get in it had to be done.

madeleine45 Wed 01-Apr-26 09:03:44

A very late Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey still chilly April 1st morning. Despite saying white rabbits about five past twelve last night this morning the joke was on me! I was pleased with all I had done yesterday, and wanted to finish off a job before I went to bed. Expected to have a good night and went off to sleep only to be woken by awful cramp about 5am and have been struggling since then with bouts of cramp and struggling to move without setting it off again. So not only that but got hungrier and thirstier as I darent go and make myself anything. Ah well I am here now at last.

Yesterday I ended up weary but very pleased with myself. Physically wasnt too brilliant but mentally much better, in a mood to sort things and get organised a bit, which I have missed for a long time. So I started with my coat on and went round the flats earning my halo for the other people in the flats. Got the secateurs out and walked and wandered all over the communal gardens where we have some island beds and bits beneath the trees , where we have a lot of lovely daffodils growing all over. A lady who died last year used to be the doyen of the flats and was a gardener too, and she used to deadhead all the daffodils and instruct the rubbish gardeners in quite an imperious way as to what they had missed and needed to go back to do. I think I am taking over from her, well in as much as the gardening bit. If you leave the heads on daffodils they will use all their energy to make seeds instead of it going down into the bulb for next year, so it is quite important to just take off the heads, and let all the leaves carry on sending energy down to the bulb for next year. DONT tie up the leaves, as that does no good at all, dont know where that idea came from - probably a man who likes things in neat rows ! Anyway was glad of my coat it was quite chilly but actually did quite a bit of walking as of course when you turned round you could see a missed head that needed cutting off. So at the end of my time , the garden looked better with still quite a few flowers to enjoy and the rest looking very green with no deadheads on it.

I then was glad to come in to warm up a bit and do some basic housework. Then I got my act together and got the ironing board and everything out at the ready and started wading through the ironing. I put the ironed things on a clothes horse at the end of the board and it is quite satisfying to see it mounting up and knowing I now have a great choice of favourite T shirts and trousers to choose from. When I needed a break from sitting down I was making up some mince and veg from a pack of aberdeen angus mince in the reduced box in Tesco, so did quite well with that too.

Despite all my efforts hadnt finished the ironing before it was time to go to the games night. There wasnt much left and I decided to leave it all there and finish it when I came home. Another new game for me to learn, but it had similarities with Carcassonne, so at last I am beginning to figure out the way to play, with the basic ideas slowly being learnt. A pleasant evening but I didnt stay at the end as I wanted to get back and finish the ironing.

It was about 12.10 when I finished everything, with ironing put away and all stuff cleared up. Felt very tired but mentally so pleased with having spent some time outside and had also planted a couple of pots that had been waiting for my attention. Had to sit in a chair and reach down but managed it and at last felt that I was turning a corner and beginning to get things sorted my way. As itwas already past midnight I confidently said White rabbits 3 times and got to bed weary but planning ideas for this morning. So I feel it has definitely been an April fools morning.

Today now has to be organised by how I can get around. Had planned to get down early to the market, but will go and check if there is anything I really need or may just give it a miss, and sit gingerly doing paperwork. Well I do really need to find my passport to check when it runs out as I plan to get another one (positive thinking!) and the price is shortly going up I gather. With the way the wretched post is going right now I may have a trip up to Durham to the passport office and do it direct and spend the day there to make the most of it. Might find out how long it would take to go by bus, saving precious petrol of course, and make it into an expedition. Need to find out the best route first.

Being so late has allowed me to read many of your posts and get up to date with all that is going on. Roses I hope you manage to go to your view and let the sight bring you calm and comfort. My special place in Swaledale helps me to calm and face whatever comes and I hope your place gives you that same serenity. Thinking of you and your family.
GrandMattie your cakes sound delicious and I would love to have a dance too. Perhaps I can suggest something similar here. I have danced all my life from ballet to folk and ballroom, and do miss it. I think I will have a look round and see if there is anything going on round here. While I am dancing I am listening to the music and reacting instead of thinking can I walk this way or that and watch my back etc. It would be much nicer than just exercising. Well we shall see.

Melanie61 hope you have a good trip across to East Yorkshire. I was in school in Beverly High School and used to sing in the Minster. Still enjoy Beverly and the westwood and all the wolds going across there. It has been too long since I was over there and petrol permitting I shall hope to be over soon to see some gardens and enjoy the area.

Just had to have another stop for wretched cramp again, so maddening and it make me move so cautiously to try and not set it off again. Ah well I need to check on the shopping needs and get going if I am to beat the rain. The sky has clouded over even more over the last half hour and very still so will definitely need the mac on but will at least get a bit of fresh air on the yellow peril.

Hope you all have the best day you can and find something or someone to enjoy meeting. All the best

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. Enjoyable time at the music club yesterday. I had missed a couple of weeks through having a virus and was ‘on the desk’.
A couple of new attendees and my songs went well.

In the evening, long FaceTimes with flying DD and sister in the south. My BIL in his nineties, is now bedridden and my DD has been very thoughtful, visiting regularly.
I have an appointment tomorrow at the dentist for my chipped tooth, it was aching last night, so needs must.

You are in my thoughts Roses 🌺

Morning all from West Oxfordshire,

Roses🌹

Yesterday’s big event was the cat’s annual checkup. They are doing fine at nearly 16 (80 in human years) but Milo needs four teeth extracted. The quote is £400.

(I’ve just heard another batch of planes from Fairford.)

I am having a baking day. Rich chocolate cake and a Simnel cake. I’ve also got my prescription to collect.

OH will visit his bees and also arrange this month’s U3A lunch.

Have a good day. 🐇

A very late Good Morning from Stockport.
I had to read the riot act to my GS’s at 1am as they were messing about and keeping me awake last night.
Roses just hugs, I hope the wait for things to start is the shortest time possible.
In the “good old days” of the NHS, I had my first appointment and biopsy done on Dec 1st, clinic appointment to be given diagnosis on Dec 8th when I was told that my surgery would be the 16th and I was home again on Dec 23rd.
Those days are long gone, never to return.
I hope the family visit brings you comfort .
To all the rest of you with ill health yourself or family my kindest thoughts.
