Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry at the moment here in Brackley should be daylight in about 30 minutes or so .
Today , I will watch cycling on TV from a favourite part of Holland , South Limburg in the Dutch Ardennes around Maastricht and Valkenburg.
Health wise OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a distinctly cold Bristol. It’s 4C atm!
I agree that that part of the Netherlands is very beautiful, Mick, enjoy it. DH used to watch the TdF, just for the scenery.
Yesterday morning was busy as the church had a “gardening morning”, but as usual only about 6 people came to tidy up the borders and prune the shrubs. But did mean that a lot more people attended the coffee and chat, where I was serving. Loads of cake was served from various previous events.
One recent new attendee came with his demented mother. They arrive half an hour early, are annoyed every time, that we’re not ready, stay to the bitter end, then for a meagre £2, expect any number of refills and tons of cake/biscuits. Sometimes, the mother is left alone. It makes me cross as we are only volunteers and not trained to look after demented guests.
The afternoon was quiet, I knitted, read and watched tv. I made one of my favourite salads, orange, fennel and onion in a vinaigrette for dinner.
Today will be quiet again, with just church and a possible visit to a neighbour.
Many thoughts to the unwell, sad, anxious, but also to those who, like me, are counting their blessings.
Have a blessed Sunday ✝️. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 25°C.

Yesterday I had showered and dressed for a morning of housework when I saw a missed call from my upstairs neighbour. I called her back and she asked if I fancied going out for a coffee so I did a quick change of clothes and off we went.

She’s a lovely lady, 88 and still coping on her own after being widowed three years ago. I enjoyed her company, and hearing about her life and her family.

By the time I returned home I had lost all motivation for housework so the ironing remains in the basket awaiting my attention.

Today I’m off somewhere with DD3 and the boys. Not entirely sure where we are going but it’s some event where there are a lot of activities for the children.

Gingster thank you for your kind comment about Milo yesterday. He can be very sweet but he has Attitude! I’m happy to have him in small doses.😄

Hoping Grandmabatty is feeling better today, and my heartfelt condolences to Grammaretto on the sad loss of your brother in law.💐

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Good morning from Sheffield
We are cycling this morning, all off-road and on our electric bikes. There’s not many physical activities I like but I do love cycling. I feel a lovely sense of freedom and enjoy the scenery as we go. We will do about 20 miles. I think I will put long johns under my cycling leggings though, it’s still a bit nippy.

If I feel like it when I get back I will have an hour in the garden and then relax for the day.

Don’t know what’s for tea ,I shall consult with the freezer

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning all from a chilly Morecambe Bay. A bright sunny day is promised with only a low chance of a shower. We managed to catch exactly the wrong times to walk Crazy dog yesterday and got soaked 3 times.
In between the showers we enjoyed a pleasant afternoon with the family, eating homemade pizza and catching up on everyone’s news. Only one GD was missing- she was working.
Today will be quieter, an early walk in the woods followed by church. A walk on the shore this afternoon but otherwise a lazy day. Thinking of all with worries and cares. Take care. thanks

Good morning from the most beautiful, still, balmy start to the day so far in Cornwall this year. I love this time of day, so full of possibilities. My echium continues to grow and is now too big to fit into my camera's scope, as you can see from this photo taken a few minutes ago.

Spent yesterday indoors hoping that rest would help my lungs. Another couple of days will do it I think. I didn't go painting Gingster but thank you for your kind advice. I made sure the paint was low VOC and it generally doesn't affect me.

Today I'd love to get to church but probably won't. But I can sit on my patio and venture up into my wild place where I can look across the town to the river.

Have ordered a DVD copy of When The Whales Came, a 1989 film with Helen Mirren, filmed on Scilly, in particular on the outer islands. I thought I'd never see it again after having it on VHS but have found a company that produces it on DVD. It will be such a delight to see the scenery again. As a local I can go on the boat to Scilly for £25 and am planning a day trip there next month, oh joy.

RosesandLilac Sun 19-Apr-26 06:39:06

Good morning, the sun’s shining here in south Glos, a tad chilly but hopefully it’ll warm up later.
I didn’t get a lot done yesterday, but I did spend several hours sorting through my embroidery stash, far too much stuff but 🤷🏼‍♀️, who cares? I’ve started my list of things I need to do, it’s a bit depressing but needs must. I will get going on it tomorrow when I don’t have anything planned.
Today I want to clean the fridge and sort out the freezer. The freezer is crammed full and I need to create some space so I will offer some foods to my neighbours. I was thinking about if I become unable to cook I will need to get in food that I can microwave for myself. DH will need to sort himself out as he dislikes ready meals- that’ll be a first for him!
I also need to write out instructions for him caring for the dogs and tape it to the cupboard door, just in case…..
If anyone has any other useful tips or ideas please do let me know!
A pork roast today I think, I will have mine with some veggies, I will do roast potatoes for DH. I’m looking forward to pork crackling!
Sending my best wishes to you all x

Good morning from a bright Torbay.

You should write a book about all your hosting experiences, grandMattie!

I think you’re right to seize the moment when the opportunity arises to do something more interesting than domestic chores, Bellasnana.

I hope you continue to recover, Marzipan22; no matter what, you always sound very positive.

Likewise, RosesandLilac who is facing everything with great fortitude.

Today I’ll attend the early service but not the Annual Meeting, scheduled for noon. After three years, I have decided to resign from the PCC, due to my health, the coldness of the environment during meetings and the constant cancelling and rescheduling of meetings. Since our beloved priest retired, church life isn’t the same.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Good morning from a sunny and bright S E Essex 🙋‍♀️

We are meeting our friends this afternoon for a late Sunday lunch, so no cooking for me today, yippee!

Wishing you all a peaceful day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

We are going to a local stately home today for afternoon tea and to peruse the bluebells.
Afterwards roast beef for dinner.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy and bright today

I did what I needed to do on the allotment yesterday, then it rained so I abandoned the extended cycle ride home. I will be off on my bike later today first of the season, bearing in mind that the local roadworks have been too muddy. This is always the difficult ride, will I or won`t I, get up the hills, under my own steam.

I decided to bite the bullet and put an Amsler chart on my fridge, as requested by my optometrist. I got this three days ago, it was depressing to get and I put it where I would scarcely notice it. Instead I decided to bite the bullet this morning and it is now on my fridge, seeing that chart clearly has turned my mind into positivity again, seeing the actual straight lines and a dot is much better than negative `what ifs`

I wear my RNIB overglasses every day, to block UV and blue light. I remember buying three more pairs two years ago as the glasses fit well, do their job and are very comfortable. I looked on the RNIB site last night and they don`t have these any more, I almost had a panic but did a search for my `reserves` and found them. The sense of relief was palpable

Ocado is here soon and the sun is blazing in, my big windows look awful so that might be a job for this afternoon, except it is sunday and I like to treat sunday like sunday. The windows can wait until monday

I hope Madeleine is feeling better and that her cleaners have turned up for her

GrannyIvy Sun 19-Apr-26 07:13:26

Good morning from a bright chilly Cambridgeshire.

Yesterday was a lovely day with dgs2. His football match went well and he received player of the match for his good goalkeeping skills. We then came home and we played monopoly and he requested hotdogs for lunch whilst watching peppa pig which I must admit I rsther enjoyed too. DH arrived home from his bowls match and the boys had a short nap cuddled in his big armchair together. Anyway my planned trip to the cinema to watch The Magic Faraway Tree didn’t happen as he preferred to go to a mini adventure golf locally that actually was really good we all enjoyed it and then a browse around the garden tools with Grandad and looking at all the fish for sale delighted him. We had a good day and DD2 and dgd2 enjoyed their shopping trip and theatre visit to see Mean Girls in Milton Keynes.

Today will be a quiet one maybe a walk to see the bluebells locally this morning and then a roast pork dinner.

R & L 💕

Hope everyone has the best day possible

Grandmabatty Sun 19-Apr-26 07:14:12

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and cloudy (and cold). Bellasnana thank you for your concern. I'm slowly improving. GrandMattie that chap is taking liberties. Marzipan somehow I missed that you were unwell. I hope you get better soon. Love the photo!
Yesterday was a non event. I rested most of the day. I did manage to get the bed stripped and washed and kept the kitchen tidy.
Today I will need to go to aldi for food. Then dd is popping in. I also have a delivery to be in for - the excitement of a new toaster! I have chosen a 2 slice one instead of a 4 slice one. I never used all 4 slots at the same time. So that's the heights today. Have a good day all.

Redcar Sun 19-Apr-26 07:15:57

Good morning from a sunny and cool mid Essex.
Yesterday was a lovely day, so I did a little more gardening, it’s so overrun with violets and weeds that it’s hard to know where to start clearing.

I hope to see family today. Will do some washing, then I’ll carry on with putting old family photos and documents into some sort of logical order.

I hope those who are struggling will find some relief today.

Have the best day possible folks.

Greyduster Sun 19-Apr-26 07:16:36

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is shining. Enjoy your cycling Mick - South Limburg was a happy stamping ground for DH and I during the late seventies, early eighties.

Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon cooking for today, but in the late afternoon I walked up to our local reed bed to see if the reed warblers had arrived, and sure enough, there were two, but it’s early yet. They are such elusive little birds that you rarely see them as they stay in the bottom of the reeds, but their song is distinctive. It quite made my day. I hope they will stay and breed this year.

DS rang at teatime while he was chopping veg for their evening meal. DD and her menfolk are coming over today to eat here. I will tidy up the patio and maybe we’ll sit outside after if it’s warm enough.

Have the best day you can, folks.

luluaugust Sun 19-Apr-26 07:19:25

Good morning from a sunny Norfolk. Spent yesterday in the nice little garden here and enjoyed a bit of sun. Unfortunately the cobblers was shut so I will try again tomorrow. Today a pub lunch and hopefully a look at the sea.
Best wishes

Gagagran Sun 19-Apr-26 07:20:10

Good morning all from a sunny central south coast. Still cool but it will soon warm up as the sun continues to shine on us.

We went for our jabs yesterday and it was so efficient with little waiting and elderly folk appearing from all directions being shepherded in and out of different entrances in quick sticks. In fact we were back home before the time of our appointments! They don't bother with the timings allocated and just take the next as they arrive. Well done by the surgery team.

DH has finally booked a technician to come and have a look at his PC and see if it can be fixed or needs to be pensioned off. He has also offered his original e bike to a friend of our neighbour who is interested in one but doesn't want to lay out a lot of money on one . DH says he will give it to him if he wants it as this friend kindly brought his chain saw and took down an over large plum tree from the corner of our back garden, a few years ago. We really don't need 2 x e bikes taking up space in the garage along with his 3 other bikes!

Laundry this morning and we shan't have the usual Sunday video call from DD as she is in Berlin on the last day of her conference. Home this evening.

I find greedy people very unattractive, Mattie and your new attenders at the church coffee morning sound to be just that. Could you consider having a notice up stating the price of a coffee and cake is £2 with any refills or extra cake charged at £1? Still very cheap compared to the chain coffee shops.

Kind thoughts to all our strugglers with troubles, health issues or worries of any sort. May the day bring some comfort and ease. sunshine

baubles Sun 19-Apr-26 07:23:56

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where we have sunshine. I hope it lasts.

Lots of laundry was done yesterday, all the extra bedding and towels from the family visit. I can’t believe how exhausted I was, I’m quite annoyed with myself, it seems that suddenly I have much less stamina.

Today will be taken up with Mass this morning then after lunch we will pop over to DD’s to see how they all are. The three younger children were away last week with their Dad, enjoying a sunny holiday while DD stayed at home to work and be with the eldest as she’s studying for her exams.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 19-Apr-26 07:25:25

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another sunny day is forecast although it looked a little frosty when I peeked out the window.

Church this morning at a tiny chuch again. There are rarely more than half a dozen in the congregation.

Lunch out today. We haven’t been to this particular place this year but it still gets good reviews. Their Sunday lunches are excellent.

Have a good day everyone.

Georgesgran Sun 19-Apr-26 07:25:49

Good Morning from Durham. It’s a bright, sunny start to the day and DD2’s first load of laundry is out on my line.
DD2 was on form yesterday - he’s such a lovely little boy.
I have absolutely no plans for today, other than to mess about in the house/garden/garage, but I’ve slept in a ‘funny position’ and my right leg is worse today - it’s almost a year now and I fear it’s permanent.
💐RosesandLilac and others who so deserve them.

Best wishes to all. X

Llamas99 Sun 19-Apr-26 07:46:58

Bella, that Milo has the most charming little face, I just loved looking at him! Thank you for posting his picture. You just have to smile when you see that little sweetie!

Jaxjacky Sun 19-Apr-26 07:51:36

Morning from a cool S Hants, it will warm up later. Enjoy your cycling Mick, pretty countryside.
Sad Ashcombe but if it’s not comfortable and become a chore, time to change.
No real plans today, but I will spend some time outside, I'm missing my usual potting on of tender veg that has been previous years spring job. Next year I will be back to it.
Enjoy your day today, visits, meals, walks or just resting. Hope pantglas and Blossoming are ok.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry sunny start to the day
Well done to your DGS in his football GrannyIvy 👏
We’ve no definite plans yet for today, I’ll enjoy pottering in the garden and see how the day goes, there’s lots to keep me busy. I’m looking forward to our usual Sunday FaceTime call from DS first thing and to catch up on all his news
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

NannyJan53 Sun 19-Apr-26 08:10:36

Good morning from a sunny Black Country, where there was a slight frost overnight.

No real plans for today, so go with the flow, there is a basket of ironing waiting, so may do that, or maybe not!

Some people really do take the biscuit gM literally!

Wishing you all the best day possible

BlueSapphire Sun 19-Apr-26 08:13:37

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but it feels quite chilly.

Spent yesterday afternoon at rugby matches, Navy v RAF, two matches, women and men. I'm afraid I left before the end of the second match (something I never do usually), as I was so cold! Decided to go straight home and not bother with the shops. Found a home-made venison casserole in the freezer which I enjoyed for dinner.

My plan is to go to the shops today, and have a good mooch around. May have coffee and cake out in Costa.
Then an afternoon in catching up with the weekend papers. No idea what to have for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.
