I have always been a loyal supporter of the Royal family in my 88 years on this planet and it saddens me that so much sadness has been given in recent years by some of them and i wish that the media could refrain from mentioning Andrew or Harry and their clan when ever they follow the King and the rest of the royals doing their duties ,the King has only got to go to church and the media says of coarse Andrew is not there, who cares

These days I don’t know which picture is genuine. For example, yesterday I saw a picture of the Princess of Wales with short hair. She actually looked lovely. This AI thing is taking on a life of its own 😫

I just wish the media of every branch would stop reporting on them all , full stop.

I daresay the media circus will go into overdrive when the King and Queen go to the US soon.

Apart from viewing the institution itself as a useless relic of the past that is desperate for modern relevance, most of them seem rather dull. The sight of Andrew makes my skin crawl and I couldn’t pretend to muster interest in Charles and Camilla.

We need something to unite us as a country these days, more than ever, and for many people the Royal family does do that.

I fail to see how seeing the Royal Family living a life free from any financial worries, going to affairs wearing millions of £’s worth of jewellery which has been handed down and some belonging to the people of this country or given by foreign governments on ceremonial occasions, can possibly bring the country together while we have food banks and benefits being cut to deserving citizens.

I am always interested in the Royal Family, but wish that we could trust photos of them. Royal children never dance in front of cameras.

So why even look at a thread about the Royal Family? 🤔

Other subjects are available.

Why are you questioning how old the OP is?

🤔

Basgetti Wed 22-Apr-26 23:11:47

Because the IP reads like AI.

Ok, fair enough. Thats how I read it.

Do you think withdrawn PMs are a bit weird, Allira? I do.

Allira Wed 22-Apr-26 23:21:26

🤔

Not sure what you mean.
I deleted the one I had from Elon Musk.

Someone sent me PMs recently. Then deleted them. Odd.

It's remarkable how monarchy wrapped itself around states from the earliest city states in ancient Mesopotamia like Babylon right up to the present times. It's only relatively recently that some states have dispensed with monarchy. About 60+% of UN member states are not democracies so in those cases perhaps it hasn't died out but been replaced by dictators, tyrants and theocrats.

Personally, I like reading about the Royals.

I like looking at the outfits and jewellery they wear.

I know we have food banks etc, but I prefer seeing how they live as opposed to some Hollywood celebrity.

Think of what money was spent on Elizabeth Taylor’s diamonds.

They’ll always be wealthy people and poor people, that will never change.

MartavTaurus Sat 25-Apr-26 17:42:41

Calendargirl you'd have liked the birthday photo this week of Prince Louis on a beach in Cornwall.

MartavTaurus Sat 25-Apr-26 17:45:28

Cheeky grin.

Luckygirl3 Sat 25-Apr-26 17:47:30

We pay them a lot of money - they own vast tracts of our country and make a lot of money from them. Of course the media will be interested in them. It is inevitable.

Luckygirl3 Sat 25-Apr-26 17:48:17

But I think the children should be left alone and not be part of the media circus or the family's PR.

Calendargirl Sat 25-Apr-26 17:59:55

The children are the future of the monarchy Luckygirl.

If they want it to survive and thrive, it’s no good hiding them away until they are adults, then expect the public to acknowledge their role.

It’s a very privileged life to be born into, with all the ups and downs that entails, but that’s life.
