Good morning Mick and all from Morecambe Bay where the day has dawned with a beautiful clear sky.
Yesterday saw me get lots of bits of jobs finished which leaves today free for child minding duties. We don’t have a regular commitment but are occasionally needed.
When we return late tonight I expect to find DS in the house. He’s on holiday from work for a few days so I suggested he comes up here for a couple of days.
I need to have a good talk with him now he has the chance to own his own home. Being autistic he is very good sorting out things he is interested in but if he’s not interested he just doesn’t bother. I don’t suppose he’ll change much but I keep trying!
Thinking of all with health and more serious worries. Take care. thanks

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a sunny forecast and 22°C

I’m glad I took those 3 pairs of linen trousers to be shortened I shall wear a pair today! Mind you, wish I could sew, it cost me £42 to have them altered 😮

Coffee this afternoon with someone I don’t know very well. She is a teacher and is on compassionate leave and receiving bereavement counselling at the MacMillan, like me. Tragically her husband, diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, died 12 weeks later. Doubtless our shared grief will bond us to an extent. This may or may not be a on-off get together see how we feel.

grandMattie

*llfl*, when my bees were very aggressive, it was that they were Queenless. Would that be the case for your DH?

So far as I know the Queens are still there! They’re making a lot of honey too!

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. I had a visit from a DF yesterday morning, she is waiting for an operation and is getting very nervous we chatted it all over. In the afternoon DH and I had our Covid jabs, this morning he is pain free and my arm is painful, quit day ahead thank goodness.
Hope all goes well Gingster
All the best to those attending appointments, which reminds me I have a call coming from the surgery but I have no idea why and certainly haven’t asked for an appointment!

Good morning from a beautiful sunny Suffolk where we still have wind but hopefully, nothing like yesterday. We had a power cut for about half an hour in the late afternoon which we think may have been down to a repair somewhere close by on the overhead wires.

I have my stretch class this morning and then an afternoon of paperwork. 2 of our DGC in the Bristol area have exams starting next week so I must get Good Luck cards in the post for them today. Given the bank holiday on Monday and the poor postal service I’m keeping my fingers crossed they get there before their first exams!

Hope all have a good day and Gingster’s eye test is positive.

Our rhododendron is looking better than it has in years, so here’s a photo.

I’ll be everything crossed Gingster 🤞🤞
Safe travels Ashcombe sounds like a great holiday.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a beautiful day forecast, but it looks like several days of rain from tomorrow. - I may not be able to finish my weeding.... Have just put a load of washing on to take advantage of the fine weather.

I missed doing anything outside yesterday, as I had to stay in for the BT engineer to install the new internet connection.
Sadly he was unable to complete the task as he encountered problems drilling through the outside wall to access the indoor connection point. Some work was done, but they have to send someone else out. BT have already been in contact to arrange this.

I had to empty a large bookshelf in the study to enable access, so spent a couple of hours sorting through books and other stuff; a lot went in the bin and recycling,.and I have a pile for the charity shop. I still have an awful lot of teaching stuff - and I retired in 2001! Sadly most of it is out of date and of no use.

Out for coffee this morning with neighbours, and then a Waitrose delivery late afternoon.

Wishing all a pleasant Thursday.

Gingster Thu 30-Apr-26 08:04:05

Thank you for your good wishes 🤞.
Oh Monk that’s such a long time to wait.😢

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another lovely sunny start to the day
Lovely photos to wake up to today, thank you GrannyIvy and NannyJan
A much quieter day today, I’m meeting a friend for lunch later at a new local restaurant that’s just reopened. Hoping we enjoy it and the food good. There’s a small outside garden there so we might sit outside and enjoy the weather.
Have a wonderful holiday Ash and enjoy the river cruise 🚤
Keeping everything crossed for you Gingster
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny and thankfully less windy corner of Somerset. We needed an anchor yesterday.

Quiet one ahead. We’re both struggling with cold symptoms and a horrid cough. Mr C has decided to join in. Will try to do a little in the garden, I’m sure being outside helps.

Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Thu 30-Apr-26 08:12:36

Good morning.A sunny start here in N.Bucks but I’mRunning a bit late so will return to read all the news.
Busy day for me, art class this morning, sewing this afternoon and choir this evening. Also have to pack for a weekend away.
A good day wished for all with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Thu 30-Apr-26 08:13:43

Good morning all, it's 8°C, with a high of 8°C predicted.
DH has just brought me, not one, but two hot water bottles for my joints. ♥️
He said I was calling out in pain during the night.
Not meaning to sound ungrateful, but the sun is streaming through the window and I feel feverish. 🥵

I have nothing much to report. With my diverticulitis flare up has come pain, feeling light headed and feverish. I need to stay well for DH, but it is hard.
My plans to work in the garden did not transpire, I spent the afternoon lying down, feeling annoyed at my frailty. 😔

After dinner, my stomach had settled a bit, so the cull continued. However, it was not the planned dresses, but coats.
How many coats can a girl have??? And why did I think I ever looked good in them?😂
Another thought. Why are they put away in pristene condition in the autumn, but come back out tired and worn, just like me?

I have to drive DH for his Covid injection this afternoon, his BP is far too high, to be driving. He hasn't gone out for his early morning walk, which is concerning.
It is really odd. He is getting his appointnent is at a Glasgow venue, in the middle of a housing scheme, but mine will be in a hub, in a Paisley shopping Centre. I know which is the better venue.😉
We live in the same house and have the same GP, the choice of venues is quite strange. 🤔

Ash, I envy you so much. When I was a student, studying German, I was travelling to Munich by train. The railway line followed the river, the view was stunning.
I tried over the years to persuade DH, to do your trip, but he resisted.
Another trip, I wanted to do was a cruise on the Rhône. When I was studying in Lyons, every morning, I had to pass all the riverboats lined up.
No matter how much I nagged, DH would never consider it.😔

Thank you all for the beautiful photos. ♥️

GrannyIvy, I am pleased to hear, that your granddaughter is on the mend.

*R&L, you are always in my prayers. 😪

Have the best day, you can. X

Marydoll Thu 30-Apr-26 08:17:00

lateDecember63, welcome.💐

RosesandLilac Thu 30-Apr-26 08:22:07

Good morning my lovely friends, it’s a lovely sunny morning here in south Glos.
I slept very badly, I am horribly short of breath and feeling really tired.
I have to go to the surgery for bloods this morning, apparently my clotting times are worryingly long 🤷🏼‍♀️
So misery me here……. Sorry 🙏
I test drove the little Aygo yesterday, got on really well but it’s too basic for me, no refinements at all! So, the next one on the list is a much newer Micra, bright orange which would be fun!
The salesman took me out in the latest electric Nissan 🫣, you can tell it to, for example, turn the temperature down, tell you a joke, ask the time etc. I honestly have never seen anything like it! The DGSs would have a field day 😁
Most unnerving being totally silent, lit up like a spacecraft inside.
I had a lovely chat with DS and the boys yesterday evening, both boys really enjoyed completing in the TCS Mini Marathon on Saturday, with very respectable times.
I have some plug plants to sort out this morning.
I hope today goes well for you all x

Georgesgran Thu 30-Apr-26 08:28:27

Good morning from Durham. Another sunny start, but hopefully a bit warmer than of late.
Meeting my poorly friend today - but later than usual, as she isn’t well, but refuses to be beaten by her RA.
I’ll walk Little Dog before dark.

🤞Gingster for a better outcome.
💐 MD you sound so worn down?

Best wishes to all. X

glammagran Thu 30-Apr-26 09:00:30

Good morning from sunny Wiltshire.

It was really windy yesterday we live in an elevated part of town and I nearly got blown off my feet gardening yesterday.it made for very hard work. Most of the dahlias are planted (DH) and one bed has lots of miniature gladioli’s in. I love dahlias as they provide lots of ground cover and produce flowers for months.

Chicken gyros for dinner tonight.

I wish Gingster all the best for her optical appointment today. Btw, I thought your teapot collection was lovely and very quirky.

Hope all poorlies improve asap. Have a good day in the sun, it may be the last for a while. Hope we hear from Madeleine soon.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 30-Apr-26 09:07:00

Good morning, all rather rushed here.

Had a phone call first thing from DD, she had been in the bathroom all night (I won’t go into details 🤮). I had to jump out of bed and jog down the road to get the boys and walk them back up the hill to school.

Will read the thread when I have cooled down, it is warm and sunny here…

GrannySomerset Thu 30-Apr-26 09:07:22

Glorious sunshine but the wind is from Siberia so not at all warm. U3A book group due shortly to discuss Adam Bede so must get organised. Nothing else planned for today as it’s too cold for the garden. Dare say I will find something to occupy me.

Thoughts with all those waiting for medical appointments , sympathy to dear MD and hope to have news of Madeleine.

harrigran Thu 30-Apr-26 09:11:34

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Quiet day yesterday, went into the garden and found a cat collar, I guess a cat squeezed under the fence and pulled it off. I posted on our estate FB page and the owner is coming to collect it.
Going out for lunch with my sisters and BIL today, a seafood restaurant on the coast.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

hollysteers Thu 30-Apr-26 09:21:13

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Yesterday I prepared the spare room for my sister from London arriving later and cooked (or massacred) a chicken. I have a tendency to overlook things…It’s ok to eat though.

In the evening to the opera co rehearsal nearly twenty miles away and the music is tricky, but the companionship and entertainment value worth it.
A get together afterwards as usual, which I meant to forgo
As I’ll have a busy time with my sister, but was tempted out.

Thoughts to R&L and hope to hear from Madeleine soon. She’s such a trooper🌺

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

Apart from that awful ''Karen'' woman in the shop yesterday morning, I had a lovely day at work, as normal, and a brilliant 61st birthday! Various good wishes on social media, too.

During my break, I went to Sainsbury's and bought myself a pack of Home Pack of 20 3ply Farmyard Animals Paper Napkins, a pack of Home Pack of 20 3ply Dinosaur Paper Napkins, and Home Pack of 20 3ply Unicorn Paper Napkins, all for only £1.90 each! I love unusual and decorative napkins!

Then last night I plonked in front of my computer and watched those 3 films I posted here on the...28th? with the bottle of Toffee Vodka and a bag of Revels! Snuggled in with my 2 big throws, hugging a hot water bottle for the menopause, also guzzling a mug of PG Tips, then crashed to bed about 10:30 with Percy RoboKitten and another hot water bottle!

The menopause is absolutely killing me non-stop now! I was constantly feeling sick, painful leg/foot cramps, having throbbing headaches, my right arm from the elbow down to the fingertips always tingling and hot, etc.! Apparently, we victims can get a total of 100+ symptoms over the years, but not a lot of medics agree with it because it's not ''scientifically proven''!!!!!

I'm coming back, in my next reincarnation as either:

1-A pane of glass!

2-A tree!

3-A rock!

Maybe I'll be multi-talented and be all 3 at the same time!

My motto for the monsterpause, I mean menopause, is: If you can't laugh at it, stamp on it, squish it and kill it!

Have a brilliant day, all of you! X

theweirdo happy birthday for yesterday! Apart from the rude customer in the morning, I hope you had a good day!🥂🎂

Ilovedogs22 Thu 30-Apr-26 10:57:53

Good morning everyone from the west midlands. Wonder of wonders;
I have weeded the veggie garden with DH & neither of us had a hissy fit! The only one to let the side down was naughty Mr Dog who dug holes and pooed on my leeks! He probably also had a leak on my leeks, knowing him.
Wishing everyone the best day possible especially those who are struggling at the moment. 🌈
