Good Morning Everyone,
Its just starting to become daylight here in Brackley this morning.
Usually at around 0530 the local Morris men perform on the piazza outside the town Hall , but this the pub which normally opened early for the proceedings as closed .
I will do my usual routine after breakfast with a bus trip to Bicester and chat to those i know .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Happy May Day Mick and everyone!
It's another sunny, warm day in Carlisle but, sadly, not due to last.
I am back from my week in Malta where I enjoyed a tour of the island. I'd been especially keen to see the Grand Harbour, which lived up to expectations, it is magnificent. Amongst other visits, I loved Gozo and Mdina. Both Mdina and Valletta had masses of visitors. Goodness knows what it's like in July and August. Valletta has big cruise ships come in, on the day I left, I saw 3 come in at dawn.
Anyway, it's back to reality now, re-sorting my stuff and doing the laundry. A Tesco delivery is due today, yesterday I had a quick trip into town to collect a largish prescription I'd ordered before I went so I should be OK for a month now.
I'm hoping for some gardening later and will do a walk through the park as I have a birthday card to post.

Enjoy the day everyone if you can.

Good morning all from my bit of Leicestershire which is also sunny.

My visit to the new dentist (a scary experience!!)"went really well - no treatment needed and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The new cleaner seems to be good and not overwhelmed!!

Lunch was a bit strange - the menu had changed and there wasn't much that was gf. Also, one of our group seems to have lost quite a bit of mental capacity and become deaf.

Today I will go to Waitrose for my top up shop.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning from a sunny S Hants, the lily of the valley posy is a tradition in Françe - to bring luck and happiness.
I had a busy day yesterday just around the house and garden, then an unexpected evening visit from a friend, she’s also my hairdresser.
Today I’m not sure what’s happening, apart from Tesco delivery pm and pub at tea time.
Enjoy your day,
🦩🦩

Happy May Day to one and all, from bonnie Scotland. It has been very bonnie the last few days with wall to wall sunshine.
I rested in the garden and then collected the painting I bought last week. I shall hang it today.

I'll be on my own volunteering this morning as my co-worker will be celebrating the Beltane festival.

So sad for you visiting your DM NannyJan

Thinking of Rosesandlilac, Marydoll. and some missing posters

Enjoy your German cruise Ashcombe

Hoping everyone is able to enjoy the merry month of May.

Good morning from a fairly bright N.Bucks.
We will be off to Stratford on Avon in a couple of hours for the weekend with friends.
Wishing you a a pleasant day.

Good morning everyone and happy White Rabbits Day from a bright and sunny Northampton. When I was teaching infants back in the 70s each class put on a May-themed performance to mark the day: we had Maypole dancing, a little St George and the Dragon play, poetry, and I always used to teach my class a May song. Happy dsys....

Was good to meet up with neighbours for coffee and cake yesterday morning, but we are now down to three of us; a fourth seems to have given up on life and says she is now too ill and old to go anywhere or enjoy anyone's company, which is very sad. Neither does she want anyone to visit her. Her DH is at his wits end, but gives in and panders to her.

Managed another afternoon weeding in the garden and cleared another good length of border; the ground was too hard for the trowel and I had to get the big garden fork out. Hoping to do a bit more this afternoon, just one lengthy border to tackle now.

Dance classes this morning, and a coffee afterwards.

Wishing all a pleasant Mayday.

Summer has arrived,
Sing loudly, cuckoo!

And the meadow is blooming,
And the wood is coming into leaf now,
Sing, cuckoo!
The ewe is bleating after her lamb,
The cow is lowing after her calf;
The bullock is prancing,
The billy-goat farting,
Sing merrily, cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo,
You sing well, cuckoo,

Good morning from Durham. It’s a fine, sunny start, forecast 22, but I’ll believe it when I feel/see it - I’m such a cold fish.
Again, coffee with a friend at 10. We fly to Spain next week, so need to finalize our arrangements, etc. especially as the weather there is poor.
I seem to be washing daily, changing my Winter bedding at last. More to do this afternoon, then Little Dog to walk before dark. I’m hoping he goes home soon.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but a day of sunshine and showers forecast.

Usual Friday sleepover for two of the grandchildren tonight. We need to go to Sainsbury’s so the big decision is do we go with the children🤯as we drive past or make a separate trip.

My younger daughter is off on her annual trip to Calais for the weekend to help in the camps.I am very proud of her but will be glad when she’s home.Any prayers for her safety would be much appreciated🙏🏻Last year she was on clothes duty and the women asked to be sewn into their clothes as it’s all they have and they can’t be stolen if they are sewn on.She says they give so little but their help is so gratefully received.

Congratulations to your son in law karmalady🥳

Nanny Jan💐it’s so sad, mum is the same.Last Saturday she said to my daughter I’m sorry my love but my memory is terrible, I can’t remember who you are but I know you are very special to me😢

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🐇🐇🐇

Good morning from sunny and windfree Suffolk. I got the hose out yesterday for the first time to water the pots in the back yard and I think I’ll have to take it through to the garden this evening to water the beds there.

Our ground is quite heavy clay and there are cracks appearing on the soil which we normally see only in mid summer.

DS, DinL and DGS3 are going to a Truck festival in their camper van for the weekend. DGD3 who is doing her GCSEs,starting in a few days said she needed to revise so she is coming here later today and staying til Monday. I think the idea of the festival doesn’t appeal at all.

I’ll go and collect her down the dreadful A12, a journey that should take an hour and now takes nearly an additional 20-30 minutes. She’s quite excited about going home on the train on Monday as she’s never done a train journey alone!

Hope today is the best it can be for all.

Susan56 Fri 01-May-26 08:10:53

Safe travels Ash and olddudders and have a lovely time😊

Aren’t the weeks racing by? Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its sunny again 20°C but showers are forecast late afternoon.

I fancy a mooch around the Trafford Centre so will jump on a bus mid morning. I have my bereavement counselling session this afternoon - tomorrow’s family lunch for immediate family (14 of us) has been booked in memory of Himself. He wanted us all to enjoy a hot meal in his favourite Italian restaurant and raise our glasses to him. He put money to one side for this and I paid a deposit last week.

I’m apprehensive. It’s one thing agreeing to this in the abstract but another thing entirely now it’s here. I just hope there will be laughter as I know I shall cry.

I’ve just heard a piece by Bach played on Classic FM as I’m posting which nudged me to think of Madeleine I do hope she’s alright.

I’m also hoping your optician appointment has given you the green light to drive Gingster and that all with worry and sadness can find some respite this Bank Holiday weekend. Anxiety for whatever reason is very draining.

Now to read the thread with my TiB. x

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where the sky is a perfect blue and we are forecast wall to wall sunshine all day.

Yesterday I did three hanging baskets and planted a new lupin, I love lupins my mum always had beautiful ones every year in her garden but I struggle to keep them.

I finished the day with a chat with my cousin, we are hopefully planning to meet later in the year. It has been many years since we last met up as we had lost contact over the years.

Today I need to do a top up shop in Waitrose and more gardening before getting the little ones from school and cooking their dinner.

Thinking about those struggling and those not able to post at moment and sending best wishes to all 💐. Have the best day possible hopefully enjoying some lovely sunshine ☀️

harrigran Fri 01-May-26 08:32:49

Good morning from a sunny NE with a promise of 20°, we shall see.
Yesterday was a pleasant lunch out with my sisters and BIL, a restaurant on the seafront where I could watch the windsurfers.
DD and SIL are in the UK now so will probably see them over the weekend.
Have a good day.

luluaugust Fri 01-May-26 08:50:49

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. We have decided to go to our favourite garden and wander around, possibly tea and cake. The family are away or busy over the weekend so we shall just have a quiet one. My call from the Dr turned out to be about my blood results after visit to A&E, all seemed to be well, I ended up with an appointment to see the paramedic next week regarding earache, not sure why as I think it is hayfever related.
Thoughts with all the travellers and those struggling with problems

GrannySomerset Fri 01-May-26 08:59:34

Sadly not a beautiful May Day morning but not cold either so am grateful for that. Oldies’ coffee morning and bridge this afternoon which is a busy day for me these days. Need to book a covid jab too since we ancients seem to be more vulnerable than others.

GrandmaC47 Fri 01-May-26 09:16:08

Lovely morning here in Co Durham.
Had a lovely meal with dd2 and dson-out-law last evening at our favourite pub/restaurant.
Just been caught still in night clothes by our gardener arriving to power wash the patios, drive and paths 🤣.
After hurting my back over a week ago I’m at last feeling better. Hate it when I can’t do things easily.
Safe travels and happy holidays to those on the move and hope those with illnesses or family worries get some relief.
Hoping Madeleine posts soon.

Stilllearning Fri 01-May-26 09:54:43

Morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire. I have read but not posted for a couple of weeks because of a horrible infection which has lingered for longer than I expected. Starting to feel better now.

Lovely poem to greet May, thank you MOnica, it quite lifted my spirits.

Nice to see you too GrannySomerset. Like everyone else I do hope Madelaine is okay.

I really feel for you NannyJan and Susan56, so very sad and challenging.

Quiet weekend ahead which continues to suit me but hopefully a return to my usual state of inefficiency by the beginning of the week!

Best wishes to all, RosesandLilac💐

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

I have most Fridays off work, so I've been back to Spar for milk, yoghurts and Chat magazine, now I'm back home.

Yesterday I caught my foot on a sticky-up bit of pavement and shot sideways/backwards, thankfully not actually falling over, but I've hurt my side and back! So when I arrived home, I immediately shoved 2 paracetamol down my throat with a load of strawberry Moo Milk! It's one of those sticky-up bits you don't notice until you trip on it!

Then last night I had another really rough sleepless night with meno and was guzzling tea at 3:30 am to ease it, so now I'm back off to bed at just after 10 am with a hot water bottle, trying to catch up on kip!

I hope you all have a great day!

TheWeirdoAgain60 Fri 01-May-26 10:11:01

Jaxjacky. What a beautiful photo!

Good morning from Sheffield
I’m a bit late this morning . I was up early cleaning the house.
I am now at work but I have just taken receipt of the gorgeous Cockapoo keeping me company for a couple of hours .
In my job I could do with a guard dog. I’m not sure what good he would be if I got robbed he’s that soft!
My friend will come for coffee at lunchtime as usual and then I feel like a bit of a relaxing afternoon and evening is needed.
Looking forward to a few days off. We may go cycling although we need to do some plastering on the end of the house. I think I may be required to foot the ladder.
Take care everyoneflowers

Good Morning all from a dull Co Armagh
My cold has turned out to be hayfever , plus a huge cold sore on my lip . I’m a picture of misery 🙄
I have to phone the surgery to see what the X-ray of my hip showed , which means I’ve to put in my hearing aids , and my ears are sore and itchy !
Hope today is good for everyone!

HelterSkelter1 Fri 01-May-26 10:36:43

Another beautiful day in N Surrey. Not a cloud in the blue sky. But the garden is visibly drying up. The grass is crispy already.
I too am missing Madeleine's posts. Always entertaining, positive and wise. I do hope she is on holiday and not unwell.
