It's a potato salad so yes, it should have had potatoes in it. In fact, it says 'baby potatoes' in the ingredients.

I'd be contacting Tesco to ask if yours was from a faulty batch. It clearly says baby potatoes in a creamy four cheese mayonnaise which indicates there should be baby potatoes in there.

Could the baby potato element be pureed mash ie smoothed potato as your son suggests?

It disappeared before I can read the ingredients so I reckon it's been withdrawn because there were no potatoes in it!

The ingredients list shows the principal ingredient is baby potatoes (47%).
Therefore, it should contain potatoes!
