If you bought a potato salad would you expect potato?

It's a potato salad so yes, it should have had potatoes in it. In fact, it says 'baby potatoes' in the ingredients.

Why would your son think a potato salad, with potatoes in the description, isn't meant to have potatoes in it?

I'd be contacting Tesco to ask if yours was from a faulty batch. It clearly says baby potatoes in a creamy four cheese mayonnaise which indicates there should be baby potatoes in there.

It disappeared before I can read the ingredients so I reckon it's been withdrawn because there were no potatoes in it!

The ingredients list shows the principal ingredient is baby potatoes (47%).
Therefore, it should contain potatoes!

I assume there will be a batch number or similar?? They will at least confirm or deny whether or not actual identifiable 'baby potatoes' should be present in the product.

What on earth is a baby potato?

Its a potato maybe under an inch to 2 inches long depending on the particular packet you buy.

They are handy grumppa as I have found they microwave well with a bit of butter, salt and half inch of water in the microwave. So living alone I cook a couple of days, easy peasy, no peeling needed, fry up or grill top the second day.

Commercial potato 'salad' is usually an economy-driven method for using up the factory left-overs. The sloppy gunk described as mayonnaise/dressing disguises a multitude of questionable sins.

It’s not something I’d normally buy but there was a nice choice of things to choose from and it look like a posh potato salad and certainly didn’t taste bad. I had some hula hoops with my bit.

There is certainly none of it left 🤣

I usually make my own too, also without cheese 🧀 but with baby potato ….

I have a very good relationship with my local (nearby) Tesco Customer Service counter and I would be having a discussion with them, take the cardboard sleeve and ask politely why there were no baby potatoes in it. Or explain that you ate it as you searched for the potato .

I recently returned “plant based” cheese which at first was refused because “the cold chain had been broken” and refrigerated goods could not be exchanged. I asked for the manager and put my case that the plant based cheese contained no dairy and should not have been on the same shelf as proper cheese and the “plant based” was in small print (too small) - and eventually he agreed “But, just this once”. 😂

It wasn’t about the cost of money wasted (£2), it was because I felt cheated!

I agree, it should have been in the "Free From" section.
