Good morning from Malta where a windy day is forecast with a high of 24°C.

Thank you for all your lovely comments yesterday.

The boys arrived at 5pm both very excited, and all went well until 8pm when I went to open the sofa bed in their room.

The loop of fabric that you use to pull it open came off and I fell backwards, full force, and whacked my head on the solid wooden toy box.

The boys were both upset as I lay on the floor for a bit and shed a few tears as I was shocked and a bit scared of I’m honest.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, DGS1 was an angel and has slept in his bed all night. DGS2, on the other hand, refused to go to bed and cried for his mum. He finally fell asleep on the sofa and is still there.

I’ve had an awful night, up and down checking on them even though there wasn’t a peep out of either of them.

I’m grateful to have woken up as I’ve a huge lump on the back of my head. I ache all over and am so upset I frightened them and ruined the evening, although we did read lots of stories and had fun before my fall from grace.

Hoping Sunday goes well for you all.☀️

PS. Love your nails FGT😊

Ashcombe Sun 17-May-26 05:33:52

Good morning from an overcast corner of La Sarthe.

Yesterday it was warm enough for me to sit in the garden and read whilst DH sat and mowed on his lawn tractor for a couple of hours. This was much needed as he’s been away for three weeks during which the mix of rain and sun has encouraged growth!

I hope the twins (and you!) slept well, Bellasnana!

A blessed Sunday to you all.

🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Ashcombe Sun 17-May-26 05:37:29

Now, I’ve read your post, Bellasnana! Poor you! 💐
I hope you soon feel better. Perhaps you should be checked at the hospital?

Good morning from Cornwall where it's raining nicely. Last night I bid for one of my dad's paintings which has appeared online; a very early naive one of rooftops which he loved painting, in his favourite palette knife style.

Today I'll hop on a bus to church then take another bus to my daughter-in-law's new place where for now we've finished painting walls. Phew. Today she's having help to dismantle and move a huge wardrobe and bed. I will just be onlooker/tea maker. 😄

After that I'll hop on a bus towards home to collect a stool I've ordered for my art room. I was supposed to stay in Penzance tonight ahead of my trip to Scilly tomorrow but I've cancelled all of that due to the weather forecast; heavy rain. Much as I love rain I don't want to spend all day getting wet as I wander around the islands. 😆 I can go again when the skies clear.

My ten-year-old granddaughter has a children's Visa card and is learning how to manage money, an invaluable skill, one which I wish I'd learnt at her age. She was telling me all about how the accompanying App works. Out of the mouths of babes...

grandMattie Sun 17-May-26 06:13:32

Good morning from a clear Bristol. Our maximum is due to be13C today. I feel it’s unseasonably cold, but perhaps it isn’t, just me craving a bit of warmth,
My poor bellas, how dreadful for you. It must have been so frightening. And so sad that the planned, lovely sleepover was spoiled. I hope your head is better - lots of arnica on the lump?
How nice for you to be able to sit in the sun, Ash, it must be lovely.
I didn’t have such a good day as I had the dreadful headache of a pre-labyrinthitis attack. Unfortunately, I needed to so a lot of cooking for today.
I roasted chicken legs, made a vegetarian quiche and Bakewell tart for the church lunch this morning, then a coffee traybake and flapjacks for an Alzheimer’s charity to be collected this afternoon.
We’re having the PCC AGM after this morning’s service, then this bring and share lunch. No doubt most people will go home, then come back for lunch…. Ah well!
May you all have a blessed Sunday. 🐦‍🔥 Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Bellasnana Sun 17-May-26 06:28:20

Thank you Ashcombe and grandMattie. Both boys up and having breakfast, happy and all drama forgotten. (Photo of them in their way to Nana’s yesterday in their pjs!)

Grandmabatty Sun 17-May-26 06:34:23

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry at the moment, but there has been rain in the night. Bellasnana how awful for you! And a bad night's sleep on top of a bump. My sympathy. GrandMattie I don't know how you fit everything in one day. I hope your church appreciates you.
Yesterday I did my usual Saturday housework in the morning. I also went to Aldi to pick up food for the week ahead. They had nice mini watermelons so I got one for dgs1 who loves watermelon. Later I picked up ds at the station and we joined the family for coffee and cake at a local restaurant. The boys were very well behaved (Cake and hot chocolate helped) . We had a nice time except dd was very anxious about dsil who wasn't there because he's unwell. He has a number of health issues and when he is unwell, it often escalates. She asked if I could have the boys for a couple of hours while she took him to the out of hours clinic. So an unexpected gift of time with them for me! They ate me out of house and home and I will need to restock tomorrow. The watermelon has half gone and so have the strawberries (dgs2). Dsil has been given a prescription and the doctor doesnt think the problem is too serious.
Today will be quiet. The ironing will definitely be done today. Apart from that, I have no other plans. Im making fajitas for dinner or burritos, I can't decide. Enjoy your Sunday.

Good morning Mick and all 🙋‍♀️

No idea what the weather is doing today, I am so fed up with this cold though.

Bellasnana sorry to see your night with the boys was disappointing for you. I hope your head is ok.

No plans today, guinea fowl for dinner tonight.

Safe travels tomorrow FGT 2 😘

Good morning from the East coast and it’s bright but with a chilly breeze.

Bellasnana how awful for you. 💐 I’m pleased the boys slept well. You will need sleep when they’ve gone home. Hope you feel better today.

I had a difficult night. My uncle has gone back in hospital this is the fifth time since I went to China. He went in the night before last, came out last night at 10pm and three hours later buzzed to say he had chest pains and has gone back in again. I had a message to say could I go and stay with him till the ambulance comes but I missed it. In my jet lagged state I was sound asleep. I wonder if mum got that message too. They will send him back out this afternoon as his heart is fine and his lungs are fine. They can find nothing wrong. He’s 80. The carers and paramedics have a duty of care and off he goes back to hospital! We are in despair with it. DH, mum and I were due to visit him this afternoon at home but won’t be going now if he’s in hospital. Does he enjoy the attention. No one knows. 🤷‍♀️

Wishing everyone a lovely day hopefully with sunshine 🌼
Thoughts to those suffering stress and illness 💐

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. We have weak sunshine but it’s going to be a wet afternoon it seems. Currently eight degrees outside. I had a good tidy round yesterday after an early shop, and in the afternoon gave all my plants a liquid feed. We have had what seems like a lot of rain but the ground and the pots were very dry. It. served to lower the level in the water butt as it was full to the brim.

I had a phone call from GS in the afternoon. He was revising for an exam and needed to break from it. He gave me the benefit of his expertise on everything from cooking sea bass fillets to buying a lawnmower and later sent me links to what he thought were the best deals🙄! It’s a pity his exam will not be on buying lawnmowers - he would ace it! Love the boy.

DS and DiL are coming down today and I will cook lunch. They offered to take me out but I said no. I don’t get the chance to cook for them very often. If it stays dry we will go out somewhere afterwards but it doesn’t look promising.

Bellas I hope your head feels better today. Now the boys have had their first sleepover they will be back for more I’m sure. On the day we moved here, GS aged five, marched upstairs to “choose his room”! He said he would have the one with the little bathroom. Unfortunately, that one was ours so he had to settle for a smaller option but he made good use of it! It’s still his room.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s bright and sunny here. I did little yesterday until about 4pm, when I went mad and cleaned for 4 hours solid, before walking Little Dog, by which time it was raining.
He’s going home today and then DD2 and I are taking DGS2 to soft play after he’s done the Children’s Cancer Run through Gosforth Park - he’s not 5 yet, but very keen and well sponsored.
My friends DM was like that WhiteSwan - in and out of A&E with nothing wrong. She had a good talking to and was told to make a cup of tea and ring family, before she used her alarm. It seemed to work.
Oh dear Bellas I hope the boys go home soon, so you can get some rest. It doesn’t sound as if it spoiled their stay.
A big step tomorrow FGT but you can do it!

Best wishes to all. X

Redcar Sun 17-May-26 07:29:45

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It looks damp out, sunshine and possibly showers today. Still cold, like others I’m fed up with the cold wind.
I didn’t do a lot yesterday, sorted out some of the old certificates and photos that my niece brought over from her mum’s bungalow. One day I may reclaim my dining room from all the old paperwork!

Today will be quiet, DD1 and family won’t come over as they have been in close contact with friends who now have Norovirus and she doesn’t want to pass it to me! DD2 may call in after the 8 year old has done Parkrun!

bellasnana I hope you’ll feel better today, that must have been a nasty shock for you!

whiteswan I’m sorry your uncle has been in hospital again, it must be a concern for you and your mum.

grandmabatty I hope your Dsil is better today.

Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.

kittylester Sun 17-May-26 07:29:47

Good morning all from North Leicestershire. The sky is bright but cloudy.

We are off down the M1 to watch DGD2 & 3 in their annual ballet show. It is DGD2's 15th birthday too so we are going for a meal afterwards before we set off for home.

Have the best day possible everyone.

monk08 Sun 17-May-26 07:29:51

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Early start DH has a fishing contest, so bed stripped and in the wash will make the most of the sunshine.
Will have a good clean up throughout the house, find I get more done when here on my own.
Bellas hope you feel better as the day progresses.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Gagagran Sun 17-May-26 07:35:54

Morning all from a bright morning after a wet night here on the central south coast.

We are meeting DD and DSiL for breakfast shortly, in the hotel restaurant across the road from us. They stayed there last night after a party with old friends from the adjacent village where they used to live. It will be good to have a catch up as we see them much less often since they moved away.

Our new patio furniture still hasn't turned up and DH is supposed to be on the case and has declined my assistance. Suspect it might be needed eventually!

My sick bay brother and nephew on the Isle of Man are making slow progress. I am unsure how my brother will cope living on his own in a flat if they do manage to get him mobile again. Won't be easy for him with only half a foot and missing toes on the other foot. He is former military though and a determined sort so may surprise us all yet. He will certainly need special footwear.
My nephew (his son) is still recovering from his detached retina and it is early days to say it is a complete success. Fingers are crossed.

Hope the bump on your head is not too sore, Bellas. I once did the same thing falling backwards off my bike as I got off it and literally saw stars. I had always thought that was just an expression until then but I really did!.

Kind thoughts of all strugglers and those with worries or troubles of any sort. May today be easier. sunshine

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 17-May-26 07:37:12

Morning all from a damp looking West Oxfordshire.

Oh dear Bellas, I hope you’re feeling better today!🌷

Church this morning at the smallest church in the Benefice. There are never more than half a dozen people in the congregation plus the priest and organist.

I always make a pudding on a Sunday. OH asked if I could make one that isn’t chocolate or raspberry! I said I would make a lemon soufflé.

He is off to see his bees today. He has made them a batch of sugar syrup.

I need to get around to working on the collage I’m doing for my craft group. I have some interesting purple ‘bits’ which I bought at Oxford Arts Weeks last weekend.

I hope your holiday preparations are going well FGT2. I’ve travelled on my own a fair bit and find lists so helpful. But I’m sure you know that!

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 17-May-26 07:37:24

Thank you Redcar. No news is good news! My dining table is covered in photos and art so I know exactly how you feel

luluaugust Sun 17-May-26 07:40:17

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Yesterday turned out to be busier than expected as DS, DIL and GS3 visited in the afternoon which flashed by with tea and cake. Today chat to DB who is off on holiday and slow cooked lamb for lunch.
Bella what an awful thing to happen hope the bruising improves soon
WhiteSwan flowers
Best wishes

dragonfly46 Sun 17-May-26 07:42:10

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire, although it looks to be clouding over. I hope I get the dog out before it rains.

I feel for you Bellasnana what a shock for you and how scary. I hope you feel better today. I fell off a chair when my grandchildren were staying - they can’t remember it but I can.

I hope you get your picture Marzipan.
How worrying about your Uncle WhiteSwan.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

RosesandLilac Sun 17-May-26 07:45:08

Good morning, it’s bright here in south Glos at the moment, high clouds and rain is forecast. We had a good downpour yesterday, the garden is looking much better.
Bellasnana what a horrible shock for you, I hope you’re feeling less shaken today. Aren’t those boys gorgeous? I remember the first time my DGCs stayed overnight, I was on tenterhooks although they were both very good.
I repotted 8 houseplants yesterday before it rained, I’m embarrassed to say that they’ve been sadly neglected other than watered.
One spider plant was almost all roots and no compost at all! I had to cut the pot off with a knife.
I’m hoping to make Lamb tangine for dinner, it’s years since I made one. DH turned his nose up so he’s making his own dinner 😋
Best wishes to you all 🌹

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 17-May-26 07:48:24

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s sunny but cold at present. Rain is forecast later today.

I think I’ll hop on the bus and go over to see my stepfather. We chat on the phone every morning, have done for years. We take turns and it reassures me that he is safe, hasn’t had a fall.

He told me yesterday thats he’s proud of me for booking a flight out to Málaga tomorrow. I said I’m so nervous but he thinks once I’ve done it on my own and sorted out the apartment, tears will flow but I will gain in confidence. I hope so. This morning I’m all churned up thinking about it all, I will cry on the plane I just know I will, very aware that Himself isn’t with me. Hey ho. Needs must. I shan’t bother applying mascara when I get ready - no point.

dragonfly46 Sun 17-May-26 07:49:30

Another hurdle to overcome FGT but I am sure it will again be your happy place with lots of wonderful memories.
