Ashcombe Mon 08-Jun-26 05:10:45

Good morning, Mick, and everyone else from Torbay, where it’s damp from overnight rain. The sky looks like it’s still making up its mind so let’s hope it goes for a fine day!

I’ve been awake since 3 am for no particular reason although various family worries are on my mind. Will try to grab some more 💤 before I need to get up as I hope to go to my exercise class later this morning having missed a few weeks since being away.

Wishing everybody a good week and happy landings for those who are travelling and improved health for the unwell.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and damp. More rain is forecast. Ashcombe hopefully you can have a nap later and your worries decrease.
Yesterday i didnt make jam but made lentil soup and a big slow cooker pot of bolognaise. I'll divide it today and freeze some.
Today is early childcare but, like Ash, I've been awake since 4. It's going to be a long day! I'll head to dds house for 6.30, get the boys up, fed and ready for school/nursery. After I've deposited them there, I will go home and freeze food then have a nap before picking up the boys. Spaghetti bolognaise for dinner. Have a good day all

Goody morning from a damp, cool Bristol. We are hurtling towards the summer solstice, and still have this horrible weather. I hope it improves for when DS arrives in 10 days time.
Yesterday was quiet with nothing much happening.
Curiously, after a few weeks of sleeping badly, waking at 2 am and nit managing any more sleep, I’m getting a bit more atm.
Today, I’m waiting for a plasterer. This the 4th time one is supposed to come and, after waiting all day, had no shows. I’ve not been given a time.
I know the job isn’t much, but the damage was done by their man changing the night storage heater in No ember. If I get another no show, I shall try to have it done myself and send them the bill. Enough is enough.
May the travellers have a safe journey, sick bay attendees get better and everyone gets a quiet day.

Good morning from Malta where it is hot and sunny with the high reaching 33°C later.

Not much happening today. I did my bit of ironing yesterday plus steam mopped the floors so only have some dust removal to do today.

I hope your plasterer turns up grandMattie. It’s taken too long.

Wishing a good day to you all.🤗

Good morning from the Scottish Borders. I've also been awake for hours.

Sunday was a good day. After Quaker meeting, DD and family came for lunch and we enjoyed my garden. DSiL mowed the lawn and DD and the girls went through some stuff and even took a few things away. I shall miss this old place if and when it's sold.

In the evening I enjoyed The Help at our community run cinema.

Exercise class this morning and a busy week ahead.
I hope your plasterer turns up gMattie

I shall read peoples' news later.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

OH and I got back home around 10.30 pm last night. Bus, plane, bus and finally taxi! What a change in weather - 30 degrees and dry in Malta, 18 and damp here!

I must do a Waitrose shop this morning and after lunch I will pop over to my neighbour for Craft Group. I will continue with my collage. She also fed Milo and Ripley for a week so I have a little something for her.

OH has to visit his bees. They were in a poor state when he visited them before our holiday.

Have a good day everyone. I believe that Flaming June is making a return in a week or so.☀️

Greyduster Mon 08-Jun-26 06:18:02

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is set to be a very wet day.

Yesterday after starting the day in a low mood I let myself be persuaded by DD to go for a walk to a couple of local gardens. I’m glad I went. Both gardens were fizzing with colour and a joy to the eye. The rain held off and we had a lovely afternoon although the walk there and back was rather longer than I anticipated, I got a high five from DD and it strengthened her opinion that I’m not ready for the knackers yard quite yet. “It’s all in your head, Mother!”

The chiropodist is coming early this morning and then I have a session with the chiropractor this afternoon.

Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jun-26 06:29:14

Good morning from what is looking like another grey day here in S E Essex.

DH’s car is being picked up at 6.30am for a service.

I need to trot to the Opticians’s first thing as my glasses broke yesterday, fortunately I have prescription sunglasses which I can wear to drive, along with reading glasses. Then I am off to the gym, also due a phone appointment with my GP sometime between 11-12 regarding my bones (the Dexa scan confirmed that I have now got full blown osteoporosis). I cannot take alondronic acid tablets or calcium supplements (immediately vomit) so I assume it will be infusions 🤷‍♀️

Hope summer returns soon…

Good morning from cool dull s somerset, the sun may appear later, I hope so

I hopped from sewing session to sewing session yesterday, it was so good, calm and relaxing. I finished the factory dress, I first made the factory dress 12 years ago, such an easy-wear utility dress, I think this was my 5th make and I now have two in my wardrobe. Cotton/linen blend and blue and white stripes for this one.

My dil would absolutely love my old workhorse overlocker, so she is having it. Ds is taking it back to Aberdeen next week, I spent a bit of time putting all the bits ready yesterday and will pack it all into a small rolling babylock trolley. I had to buy another overlocker a few months ago, self-threading, I need to go with the flow wrt my old eyes and have finally managed to let-go of this excellent old machine, another de-clutter done

I did not want to accidentally nap yesterday evening so started sewing a dress toile, the Aspen dress by Fabric Godmother. I have finished the bodice and will do the skirt today. It looks promising. Very enjoyable to make

I have a parcel to post and an 18th card to send today and really do feel like re-arranging my wardrobe and of course I will be out for a while, if the sun appears

glammagran Mon 08-Jun-26 06:42:22

Good morning from overcast Wiltshire.

On Saturday we had so much rain with lots of outdoor events spoiled in the south. All this damp weather is making my joints complain. I could see my thumb joints visibly expanding when the good weather came to an end.

School pickup today so hope we don’t get rained on.

I made raspberry jam yesterday using frozen berries from M&S. This time, it looks very seedy but tastes fine. Perhaps fresh ones would be better. Also made cottage pie for dinner. DH started it off but he seems increasingly unable to follow a recipe these days. There are lots of little things going on that are making me worry that he may be in the early stages of dementia.

Wishing everyone a good start to the week.

GrannyIvy Mon 08-Jun-26 06:50:35

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Yesterday I just pottered, did a Waitrose shop and deadheaded the roses which are looking lovely this year. I put a new hydrangea in and had a good chat with DD1. She is always so sensible and it helps to talk through family worries with her.

Today if the rain holds off we will walk at a local National Trust property. Since my recent holiday my feet have been hurting I guess from wearing inappropriate footwear. Why can I only seem to wear Sketchers nowadays very frustrating!

Hoping everyone has a good day 🌷

brook2704 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:03:53

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds but it’s dry just now
Yesterday I enjoyed most of the day pottering in the garden, there were a few showers but they didn’t last long. There’s lots of things to cut back, prune and tidy as everything is growing so quickly. Today I’ve an early appointment with the nurse for a routine blood test but after that nothing planned so I think I’ll come home and continue in the garden
That’s a lovely summer dress karma
Well done with walking to the gardens yesterday greyduster and so pleased it was worth it
I’m with you on the Skechers GranyIvy so comfortable!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Mon 08-Jun-26 07:15:25

Good morning all from a very wet North Leicestershire.

We had quite a lazy day yesterday apart from the Whatsapp messages from DD2 whose car broke down on the motorway. It was collected, they got an uber home and then realised they had left the house keys with the car keys. Cue an expensive visit from a locksmith.

Today we are expecting a visit from Sky between 8 and 1 so had better get going.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Mon 08-Jun-26 07:27:38

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s grey and rain is forecast. I think the DGDs school sports day may be rained off and rearranged for Friday. My gardener came yesterday and cleared part of the front garden, I need to buy more plants to fill the empty spaces. Hopefully he’ll finish the front garden later this week,
Yesterday’s “open gardens” event was more successful than on Saturday and I saw quite a lot of people walking about with the list of gardens to visit.

I hope that those who are poorly feel a little better today.

Have the best day possible everyone, despite the weather.

Astitchintime Mon 08-Jun-26 07:29:45

Good morning from a very wet NE Midlands. I’m planning a sewing session later, nothing too adventurous as the light isn’t great today. My machines do have integral lamps but a bright sunny day is best for me.
No need to water the veggie plot either although the greenhouse will require an inspection to ensure the tomatoes are ok.
Have a good day one and all.

Susan56 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:32:14

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.

A busy day yesterday.DH worked hard in the garden and I did lots in the house trying to get ahead with things as we have a busy few weeks ahead.

Today we are off to Staffordshire to collect DGS1 from school.

Thinking of all with worries about family members 💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌷

Good Morning all from a still damp central south coast. More rain promised for today too. Hey Ho!

Just had a worrying message from my Manx niece to say her Dad is back is hospital with sepsis. My poor brother has really been going through the mill and still is, it seems. She will keep me posted.

I am still sneezing but my gastric issue has calmed down so hoping for a better day with some gentle eating introduced.

Had a long chat with DD yesterday catching up on things. Her DS (our only DGS) is now home from university as his term has finished. He goes back for his third and final year in September and is now looking for vacation work to build up his funds.

Safe travels to anyone on the move today and hope all of us in the sick bay continue to improve. May those with worries and troubles of any kind find some ease.

Marzipan22 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:34:23

Good morning from Cornwall with rain forecast this morning, clearing later. As I want to work in my wild wood I'll leave that till this afternoon and have a walk on a beach first.

A wonderful visit to my daughter-in-law's new home yesterday. As I suspected she's made it look gorgeous with her collectibles and vintage dolls' houses. She wrestled with her new all-gas cooker to produce a lovely roast. We talked about Toy Story in great detail around the table. She graduated in animation and it's my grandson's future college course and we all love the films. The three of us are planning to go to the launch of the next one followed by a meal in Wetherspoons. We know how to live! 😂😂

On my bus journey home I met a woman of my age who I discovered had, like me, ridden a motorbike for years so we raved about them. 😆

Sar53 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:39:28

Good morning from Kent. I'll be on my home later this morning.
I've had a lovely weekend with DD2 and family.
Her and I spent yesterday afternoon at a swimming gala at DGD5's club.
Proud Grandma moment, she came home with 7 medals 🏅. It was long and very hot but a good afternoon was had by all.
We came home, had a takeaway and a few glasses of wine, the perfect end to a lovely day.
Take care everyone, best wishes to all xx

Gingster Mon 08-Jun-26 07:41:27

Good morning all from a very wet Suffolk coast.
Yesterday was pleasant with no rain but still a blustery breeze.

I slept fitfully as I ache all over. Couldn’t think why?
Then I remembered. I tripped up my dressing gown on our very steep stairs with two cups of hot tea. I scraped my shin and jolted my whole body, tea went everywhere but thankfully missed little pooch, who had dived up the stairs before me.

Iv e taken two paracetamols and hopefully will ease up!

This afternoon we’ll watch the first tennis at Queens. We both enjoy the tennis season. DS2 is a great player and at the great age of 51 is still his clubs no.1 seed . He plays in the over 35’s and now over 50’s.
We wanted him to get into it professionally as a child but he was more interested in football , golf and gymnastics. A good natural all rounder, like his dad. ❤️.

Today I’ll get the Estate Agent round to have a chat and let him know about the various surveyors, electricians and other odd bods who have been cavorting around our cottage in our absence. They haven’t been very respectful. 😤. I will insist they are with ‘whoever’when they come.. we pay them enough !

GG sorry to hear of your Osteoporosis diagnosis. Let’s hope they can find something that suits you.🙏. We must get together with Sar for a coffee/lunch soon and put the ‘world to rights’.
I’m meeting Liberty on Thursday too. Lovely to meet up with grans.

Take care all and try to keep dry.☔️

Good morning from a damp W Kent.
A drive this morning to visit a friend who has broken her wrist. She was my next door neighbour for many years, starting 56 years ago, DH has decided to come as well, so a busy day for us
Best wishes

EkwaNimitee Mon 08-Jun-26 07:51:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. It started off grey and gloomy at dawn but now appears to be trying to brighten up as I can see blue patches.
I went for an early walk yesterday. At first I thought I was the only person on the planet, the park was completely empty of humans. Finally a very few dog walkers appeared, maybe folk have given up on summer and having lie-ins...
I was out in the garden later in spite of the wind, which I dislike. Deadheading, clipping and lopping were the order of the day, just about everything is burgeoning madly.

Today is the turn of the downstairs floors...vacuuming and mopping and then admin to attend to. Car insurance time has arrived. It has gone up a little so research is needed and for my gas too as the prices are due to go up so I need to consider changing tariffs. All very tedious and boring.
Tesco are due at lunchtime, the rest of the day is unplanned so I'll see what I fancy doing.

Have a good day everyone if you can.

RosesandLilac Mon 08-Jun-26 07:53:08

Good morning, it’s raining here on the hillside in south Glos 🙄
Housework today, I need to look for my magnifying glass with a light, goodness knows where it is, I haven’t seen it for several years! I may even have given it away….
It’s supposed to be brighter later so I hope I can hang the washing out.
The roses need deadheading, they’ve been badly battered by the wind and rain, so I will potter around in the garden later.
Wishing you a good day 🌹

Georgesgran Mon 08-Jun-26 07:59:13

Good morning from Durham. Another dull day in store, but the chance of seeing the sun later. Recently, I’m really struggling to get to sleep - 3.45 today, but then I sleep soundly.
DGS2’s party went well, but such a lot of food left over and thrown away. That’s annoying, but thankfully, only once a year. I think my help was appreciated.
I’m taking little dog home tonight, so we’ll get all the other bits from yesterday sorted.
I’m meeting my friend for coffee this morning, then I have a list of phone calls to make. Last time I hung on for 27 minutes to be answered by the Council Tax office and now have to call back, as the issues can’t be dealt with online.

Best wishes to all. X
