Evening lovely Kitchener friends. I’m up from the gardens been sat in the shade rereading and finishing this classic novel I started on Monday at the airport ◀️
I’m a slow reader but Jeremy Clarkson has been taking up swathes of my time 😁

It’s 8:30pm here.
I’m showered so will dress and go down to eat. Dining solo is something a bit sad but needs must.

I think I shall choose estofada (beef stew) with potato asada (baked potato) and aqua con gas. I’ve not had alcohol since Tuesday. That tummy bug knocked me for six in the week so I’m still choosing to be cautious.

Chicken wine - I always have a box of it in the fridge at home …. 🙌

Hi all, very warm here today with intermittent sun, it’ll get hot this week.
Just had poached chicken, new potatoes, dug this morning, tender stem broccoli and carrots, just about to have a Solero.
I’ve not tried chicken wine, I’ll have to remedy that.
Alarm set for 06:50, no media, cup of tea and BBC2 to watch the rerun of the game.

Quiet day here catching up with admin and writing an email or two. Sun has been out but goodness it’s windy here, temperature didn’t get above 21 degrees. Up a little tomorrow if not by much.

The football will pass us by until I spot the score in the morning. Oh dear, how unpatriotic are we. I’m usually awake before 6, I’ll check then.

Must make a call as early as I remember to as our dishwasher decided to strike this afternoon. I emptied and hand washed the contents as Mr C was napping - good timing that. It’s 13 years old, perhaps time to research a replacement. We’ll get a diagnosis first although the web advised this particular fault could be terminal.

Hmm, first the car, now the dishwasher. What’s next? Please, please, please not the washing machine 😂

Another here who hasn’t tried chicken wine. I’ve obviously led a very sheltered life, must remedy that.

Just had a message to say part of our little family have made it to Dover ready for an early morning crossing tomorrow. I’ll be fidgety for the next three days as they drive many miles.

I’ve another 10 days here Charleygirl5 so will miss the UK heatwave. I had a new desk top fan delivered before I left home so all being well I’m prepared for the next round!

I’ve just had to Google chicken wine too! I must try it, although I’ve been off alcohol for a few months. No real reason, but it often makes me sneeze.
A day of some sun and some cloud, but warm and not much breeze. I’m not looking forward to the third heatwave next week.

DD2 called in with littlest today, the 7 and 8 year olds had been playing cricket this morning before heading off for kung fu grading tests. The 11 year old and DD1 went shopping.

I managed some gardening including repotting a rather large shrub which was heavier than I anticipated, but it seems happy enough in a larger pot. My back is telling me that it was a stupid thing to do, but it’ll be better tomorrow 🤞.
I’m not staying up for the football, but may check in with it if I can’t sleep.

I believe there is a major hiccup so I am unsure if the match England v Mexico will take place until; later am our time. I must google to see what is going on. I was going to watch it but I am not hanging around for a possibility later.

I was pleased to watch Soop’s memorial service yesterday. It was beautifully done.

I strolled into Juan’s bar below assuming I’d get a table for one in a tiny corner somewhere even though it’s the Spain -v- Portugal game.

Big mistake! The place was rammed even inside (forgot there’s a tv in there too).

I turned to leave but the lovely staff generously brought out another table and chair and set it up just for me! Laughed and told the diners around me ‘a VIP!’ 🤣

A charming Spanish family next to me offered to stripe my face with the Spanish flag so how could I refuse? So many others had already been painted! 😁

fgt how kind of the staff in Juan’s bar to find you a table, I like the stripes! I’m watching the second half of Spain v Portugal, but didn’t stay up all night to watch Mexico v England last night. The pub in the village was showing the match last night, ticket only though. I half expected to be woken up by football fans going home in the night, but either they were very quiet, or drove home!

I haven’t done much today, had my usual walk this morning, but the only dog walkers weren’t actually walking, but sitting on a bench in the shade.
I repotted one of my tomato plants to encourage it to grow taller! My cut and come again salad leaves have just about finished, so I’ll go to one of the garden centres in the morning to see if they have any more. Much cheaper than buying bags of salad leaves from the supermarket.

Pleased you got a table FGT. It reminds me of a time in Naples where we had a meal outside and every time new customers came another table and chairs were set up on the pavement.

It was 32C in contact with a friend in Scotland, Falkirk and she was cold and was thinking about switching on the heating. I was melting here. The weather was very different there.

I went out today to pick up repeat prescriptions but as the T increases this week I will be going nowhere. I have a Sainsbury delivery tomorrow so I will not starve.

I watched a fair bit of the Spain /Portugal match but became bored so switched. I had expected Spain to do better.

I have never watched so much football in my life!

A well deserved VIP fgt. Of course the staff know you there and will look after you, people can be so kind - most of the time. No need to apologise, chat away, your posts are always so vivid we could be there with you.

Busy one for us today. A quick visit to a zoo project along the motorway to swap our day ticket for an annual pass. It will give us somewhere to go all through the year and also encourage me to walk further. It also has giraffes, I’m missing the Longleat herd.

Then much to Mr C’s amazement a very quick visit to a shop in the nearby shopping mall where the sale dress I’d seen on line was not only hanging on a rack but in my size. Tried on and purchased it was home via a jacket potato lunch in M&S. After that? Not a thing other than send a message or three and watch tv oh yes and evict a too tight dress from the wardrobe to a new home in the charity bag. A strict policy of one in and one out here. Living in the smallest bungalow in the world has at long last instilled discipline.

I’m still twitching about the travellers. They’ve had one challenge after another and it’s only day two. After this evenings messages my thought was what next? My worry is for the driver who must by now be exhausted as he’s also chief sorter outer. I’ll breathe on Wednesday when they reach their final destination - until the return trip!

I’m no longer wondering what the third thing to break will be. The car, the dishwasher and now - my tooth! I’m off meeting a friend tomorrow and will zoom into the dentist when I get back in the hope of a fairly quick appointment. The receptionists can take some getting past though. It doesn't hurt, just rough and aggravates my mouth. Oh well, all sortable. The car is fixed, a dishwasher engineer will be here on Wednesday and I’m sure if I cross the dentists palm with a (lot of) silver the tooth can either be capped or, my preference, removed. Worst things happen at sea always pops into my head at these times, a favourite saying of my Dad.

If I’m to get out in the morning I really should settle for sleep. It’s elusive again, just three hours last night an hour, several awake and another two hours. With luck I’ll manage four tonight and not fall asleep on the bus tomorrow.

Charleygirl5 I can confirm that it was very cold in the Falkirk area this morning. I switched the heating on before dgd came to take the chill off. Only needed it for half an hour fortunately. Spent a nice day with her even though the terrible twos are beginning to surface.

Thanks Castle25 I was beginning to think my friend's body T had changed when I was here in London with perspiration dripping off me. At least I am saving on energy. It will be another scorcher today. My bedding is in the machine and will probably dry within 30 minutes when I hang it outside.

The weeds are taking over the block paving again so if it is not too hot I must tackle that.

I have my legs dressed x2 weekly and if another District Nursse asks how many carers come I will scream. I told the last specimen I can paint my shed and fences.

My cleaner comes today so that will be a clean house and fresh bedding. Bliss. Saionsbury will deliver early pm so that also means a decent supper so I am doing well today with little effort from me..

Hello Girls {and Boys?] I'm a complete novice at this but I wanted to thank you all for the very kind messages that were posted after my Dearly Beloved Soop ,departed this life, messages that were passed to me by a dear friend of yours and mine. My life has been, and still is, topsy-turvy and I'm keeping busy attending to some of those jobs that I had thrown to one side, saying I'll attend to that later. Well, now is later and I'm glad to have them to occupy my mind. If this post works I may pop in from time to time to see how you're all getting on, and meanwhile keep up the good work Did any of you manage to see the Celebration of Soop's Life, Held in the local kirk last Saturday?
