It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

I did get some plums jaxjacky and some runner beans! Farm shops are useful because I can just buy as much as I need, rather than buy a prepackaged bag which is invariably too much. I love Victoria plums but can’t eat too many at once.
Good you don’t have foot fungus!

Another shower last night, but despite some really black clouds today we didn’t have any more rain. A small town nearby apparently had 1 millimetre of rain last night, so I guess we had the same! Perhaps tomorrow or Friday will bring more🤞.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone - it’s dark here, the nights are certainly drawing in now.😢

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Aug-26 21:00:46

We had rain overnight Redcar we have also had some really black clouds this evening they have drifted off eastward.

I am a farm shop lover for the same reasons, I can get the amount I need m, not what the supermarket has pre packed.

brook2704 Wed 19-Aug-26 22:38:11

Lots of rain spare here if anyone would like some ☔️
I’m just in from dancing after a busy day. I had the dreaded hygienist this afternoon and a dentist check up but thankfully all ok for another 6 months, it’s good to get it out of the way with
Hoping your DD doesn’t gift you Covid Jax!
Hoping fgt has arrived safely in Malaga and ready to enjoy the family time
Just about to turn off the light, take care and sleep well everyone x

Late to bed for me, watching The Chelsea Detective although I think it was a repeat but new to me.Saw my neighbour today, she looked better than yesterday but mentally she is not ok.

Sainsbury’s delivery tomorrow, too late now to add anything.

I hope you all had a reasonable day, it was dull here, two short sharp showers but still in the 20’s, cooler tomorrow.
My D in Zante says it is too hot for her, she is seeking shade a lot.

Nannytopsy Thu 20-Aug-26 17:06:02

It’s been raining! We have had thunder too! Last minute DGC booking for tonight, so DH is doing a small mountain of roast potatoes and gammon. I have made a pie for the veggie.
I won the trophy for our garden club summer competition last night. Woo Hoo! 🥳

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Aug-26 17:22:56

I have been pampered today ready for our upcoming family holiday.

All ironing and washing is done, house is clean (not by me, I have cleaning fairies). All I need to do is sort out what I a, taking and pack - whoop whoop.

As we are going with DS3 and family and the teens have been told no tech I might not be posting often or at all for the duration.

Will miss my kitchen pals, can someone open a new kitchen when the time comes please 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Thu 20-Aug-26 19:50:10

So disappointed today, we were forecast lots of showers/heavy rain etc, but so far we’ve had one very brief, light shower which didn’t even wet the ground! Maybe later or tomorrow?

grannygravy have a great holiday with your family.

Enjoy the evening everyone, do a rain dance for us here in mid Essex please!

Blossoming Thu 20-Aug-26 20:22:42

Good evening kitchen pals. Redcar it’s been raining non stop here since last night. The ground really needs it so I’m not complaining. My eye is settling down after yesterday’s jabs, no pain or bruising. The doctor that does the treatment is very good, I didn’t feel a thing when she was doing the treatment. I’m off to bed, tired tonight.
Goodnight, TOYA xx

cornergran Thu 20-Aug-26 20:23:57

Have the best holiday grannyg. Wonderful to be with family.

Hope you’ve all had a good or indeed good enough day.

brook2704 Thu 20-Aug-26 22:30:10

Have a lovely holiday with the family GG I understand about the no tech rule so see you when you’re back!
Not much to report from today, I did a bit of pruning in the garden this morning and then out for coffee this afternoon as it was raining
A lazy evening watching tv and messing about on the iPad!
Hope everyone is doing ok, sleep well and take care all x

Redcar Fri 21-Aug-26 19:53:13

It’s very quiet in the kitchen today, I hope everyone is ok?
Cooler today, and almost chilly this evening as I watered the tomatoes and other plants clinging to life in pots. No rain again, grey clouds around so fingers crossed.
Roll on autumn when El Niño is supposed to send storms and rain our way!
No luck at bingo this lunchtime but did win a couple of raffle prizes - a packet of biscuits and a vase which will soon find its way to a charity shop outside the village! (It was the last item on the table)

Enjoy the evening folks, a cooler night should give us all a better sleep 🤞.

Jaxjacky Fri 21-Aug-26 20:33:36

That’s good news Blossoming.
End of next week for storms apparently Redcar, but then we were due heavy rain at tea time today, zilch!
A bumbling day until Tesco delivered pm, both put away the shopping, then about 5 we headed to the local via the dreaded roadworks.
Lovely to catch up, our group of weekend bikers were commiserating with me about my hip and their various ailments, made me laugh.
Glad Grandmabatty wasn’t going batty re her lost keys (good morning thread) as they turned up.
Have a decent evening all.

brook2704 Fri 21-Aug-26 20:54:35

All fine here thank you Redcar I’ve had a good day but feeling a bit tired now so I’ve come through to the bedroom where it’s comfier and I’m browsing on the iPad - trying to find something interesting to do over the weekend 🤷‍♀️
Good to hear you’ve been out to the local Jax - more like it 👍
Hope all our friends in the quiet corner are doing ok, take care all

Jaxjacky Fri 21-Aug-26 21:09:56

It felt good brook thanks 🙂

GrandmaC47 Sat 22-Aug-26 19:30:37

Very quiet in the kitchen tonight. Hope everyone is ok.

Jaxjacky Sat 22-Aug-26 19:43:20

Hi all, a quiet day, sunny and a pleasant temperature, about 23, some pruning done.
Autumn is time for family catch up, so next weekend we are all at the local Indian for their lunchtime buffet, two weeks later here for food.
Imogen is loving her Asda job, university is definitely deferred for a year, she’s coming on leaps and bounds now drugs are working for her autism and epilepsy. When I look back two years she was a different person, modern medicine and a great Mum.
I hope those on holiday are having a great time and the quiet corner are managing.

brook2704 Sat 22-Aug-26 20:10:49

Hi kitchen pals, we’ve enjoyed today up here in Inverness. We went to Rosemarkie beach this morning, enjoyed a cappuccino overlooking the sea in the beach cafe, a walk along the sandy beach and then on to Cromarty for a look around this afternoon. There was a rowing regatta on with lots of different rowing clubs competing. We watched for a while and then went for a late lunch. Home via the garden centre and couldn’t resist buying a mini indoor plant to replace one of the set that I’d lost earlier this year. DH kindly cooked dinner and I put my feet up!
So pleased to hear Imogen is doing so well Jax she sounds like an amazing young lady
My hayfever is playing up again, I think it’s weed pollen at the moment rather than tree pollen but it’s really troublesome. I seem to have a choice of taking extra antihistamines that wipe me out or putting up with it 🤷‍♀️ I hope it passes soon
Hope everyone in the quiet corner are doing ok, take care all x

Jaxjacky Sat 22-Aug-26 20:19:44

Not that sort of ‘weed’ I hope brook 🤣🤣
Do hope it passes soon, annoying when it’s out of your control.

Grandmabatty Sat 22-Aug-26 20:28:30

Jaxjacky the keys are at his house for the estate agent! I had a lovely time with ds this morning. My aunt and uncle were invited for breakfast too. Finally ds told them about the baby and selling up. Needless to say, they are delighted for him. I managed to get most of the housework done at Batty Towers and ordered takeaway curry as a treat. Unfortunately my stomach is disagreeing with it and I feel dodgy. So I have retreated to bed. Have a good evening kitchen folk

brook2704 Sat 22-Aug-26 20:51:19

Jax maybe I should try that! 😂
Hope you’re feeling better again soon grandmabatty what a shame after such a lovely day ❤️

Grandmadinosaur Sat 22-Aug-26 21:25:05

Can I creep in from the quiet corner please?

I’m enjoying the Marvin Gaye at the Proms on BBC tonight although I feel rather distracted. Ds asked if they could pop over tomorrow afternoon. Very unusual as they are always so busy at weekends and we only saw them yesterday afternoon. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but am wondering if there is something afoot. It definitely won’t be another grandchild that’s for sure. DH didn’t pick up on it at all but when I mentioned it he suggested it might be a relocation to another part of the country. That hadn’t entered my head but then one of them has been going there a few times in recent weeks. Oh well I’ll see what tomorrow brings and it’s good to get it off my chest in the kitchen.

Hope you feel better soon Grandmabatty it’s horrid that we can’t eat what we used to without repercussions.

That sounds a lovely day brook I’d love to visit that part of the world sometime. Hope you get some respite from the hay fever.

Happy family times to look forward to JJ

Night all sweet dreams 💤

Redcar Sat 22-Aug-26 21:37:26

grandmabatty sorry you’re feeling poorly after a lovely day, very frustrating for you.

jax I’m so pleased that Imogen is enjoying her job with Asda and that she’s doing so well. Life can’t be easy for her at times, with autism and epilepsy to deal with.

brook that sounds like a lovely relaxing day, apart from the hay fever! I hope that improves for you soon.

DD2 and family called in this morning after a visit to a bathroom showroom looking for fixtures and fittings for their new en-suite.
DD1 and family called in this afternoon and my son in law checked my computer to ensure that my email meets BTs new standards. It does!
Lovely to see all the family, and we’ll get together again tomorrow at DD2’s for a barbecue.
My ‘to-do’ list was abandoned for the day, I may attack it tomorrow!
Night night everyone, sleep well!

Nannytopsy Sat 22-Aug-26 22:31:49

We did a full garden bin full of deadheading and removing dead plants today and then I did a whole bag of ironing 😇. More removing brown material from the garden tomorrow!

Grandmabatty Sun 23-Aug-26 07:16:24

It passed Redcar. Probably greed!

Redcar Sun 23-Aug-26 10:31:46

grandmabatty glad you’re feeling better. Enjoy your day!
