DD1 and family arrived home safely from their holiday, I’m pleased to relinquish responsibility for the dog, who has had an upset tummy for most of the week! DD2 called round this evening to check on me and the dog, which was sweet of her. Not as hot today but still felt humid, apparently we have a slight chance of rain overnight, I’ll believe it when it happens but I felt obliged to get the 16 large cushions off the garden sofas and into the garage! It took me a little while but I managed.

Hi all, 27 today, cloud/sun and humid, it’s hanging in there that ‘no rain weather’.
Children big and small back from Turkey, MrJ did the Gatwick run, family were tired and hungry, Golden Arches will have visitors.
I’ve been on the voluntary phone until 5, in between made a couple of appointments and txt my lovely hairdresser, the mop needs attention.
Pleased to read the New Forest fire - only a few miles away - is relatively under control, brave fire personnel in such difficult conditions. I’ve made a donation to the charity that provides food and drink to our services in such circumstances.

Not heard from neine for a while, hope all is well, as I do for those in the quiet (nearly wrote naughty) corner, may struggles be abating.

I survived the last ready for school shopping with DD and her boys, only traumatic part was shoes for the 11yr old going into senior school, the list of can’t haves was extensive. The list for allowable was minuscule.

Cold chicken with something (to be decided) for dinner.

Good evening kitchen folk. Im cold!!! I have a cardi on. Dgs2 wasn't keen to go into school today but managed it with the help of his brother and a lovely teacher. I made lentil soup, peanut butter cookies and Nutella cookies in the morning then laced about in the afternoon. I did some Spanish to keep my brain ticking over. When I picked up the boys, they both had good days. Then home to my house for ipad time and eating. Dgs1 waa picked up by dsil for football training then later dgs2 was picked up by dd. I am about to have chicken and salad with potato croquettes. Lovely. Then an early night after an early start. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

Evening All’

I met up with uttb for lunch and wine in Stockport town centre this afternoon and we had the most wonderful time getting to know one another!

That said, several years spent posting on GN had already given us an insight into one another’s characters so we were ahead of the curve as we sat down!

We like one another enough to do this every couple of months 😁

Still warm here grandmabatty! But only 28 instead of last weeks tropical heat. It will be cooler by the end of the week 🤞.
My house was suffocatingly airless when I got home, the temperature indoors is still 26 but I hope it will go down overnight. We did have a shower in the night so I was pleased to have put the cushions from DD1’s garden furniture into the garage yesterday.
I picked my first tomato when I got home! My next door neighbour had been watering the tomatoes and salad leaves in my absence.
The gardener is coming tomorrow, he can sweep up all the dead leaves from the garden, and rake up some of the weeds, that will make it look slightly better.
I’ll see my dementia friend tomorrow afternoon and have an Ocado delivery in the morning, the fridge is empty!

grannygravy I think my 11 year old DGD will struggle with wearing proper school shoes at her new senior school. They were allowed to wear black trainers all the time at her junior school! I don’t know if DD1 has got the new shoes yet.

Good evening, just to say in total accord with FGT we had a lovely meet up, got on like the proverbial house on fire and agreed to do it again when she (* FGT*) has finished her current travels, it all sounds so fulfilling.
I did fade a bit as my mobility and stamina are not good but she kindly saw me into a taxi and all was well.

How lovely * FGT* that you and UTBB met up. GN at its best. Five of us are hopefully meeting up on Wednesday.

When I next find a job for this 16 year old, I must be careful re timing because I was told that 2 and a half hours was too much! He stopped for drinks and the loo and he could have left at any time. At least next time it will be a private arrangement between him, his mother and me.

I have space in my kitchen again, I managed to get rid of one of two mobility scooters. I was delighted.

A temporary cleaner came today and will not be returning. By accident, I left a single bottom sheet out. She didn't tell me so made up the bed without one!

No rain forecast here until Friday, we will see.

TV for me is dire, I could go to bed and sleep.

My Yorkshire Lass is just finishing off some Stilton with oat cakes. She’s getting off soon back over the Pennines, sensibly delaying her departure letting the motorway rush hour fizzle out.

Her things are packed up in the hall. I’ve just done a sweep through to double check for cables etc! As you do …. 😁

Once she’s gone I shall go through my checklist as I’m ✈️ off to Málaga tomorrow. 🫪

I’m just getting a bit of a salad together to have with pasta soon, quick and easy that suits me fine. It’s back to school day tomorrow here so hoping all goes well. The pool at the gym will certainly be a lot quieter as will the local cafes!

We had a little rain in the night but it had dried by this morning. It was very windy in the night so I had to shut some windows. It’s been a warm and very humid day today, not much sunshine. More showers are forecast for tonight.
I’m planning a visit to the farm shop tomorrow morning as DD2 says they have Victoria plums and I love them!

Thanks everyone for you kindness & good wishes for my upcoming holiday.

When I arrive tomorrow evening I’m staying 11 nights in my friend’s apartment. They don’t have WiFi so I’ll be taking an enforced sabbatical now from posting until my family scoot off home and I return to my own small abode on the 30th.

Not very clear there.

I’m staying in Málaga until 6th September. A week after the little family fly home.

I’ll have 3 days on my own, being Widow Twankey for a few hours - washing bedding and towels in my friends apartment then doing the same in mine - getting it shipshape and Bristol fashion (who even says THAT anymore anyway?) before my Yorkshire Lass flies out to join me on 2 September for a few days together.

Then on the 6th her husband comes out to join her for a week’s fly & flop holiday - and it’ll be my turn to scoot off.

Except I’m formulating a very cunning plan.

Hello kitchen people. Bon voyage 🛫 FGT!

Apparently it’s raining, although it’s still warm and I just have a sheet over me.

I tried yet another vanilla icecream recipe. A Hugh FW version. It is delicious but I fear my icecream machine is conking out. I had it as a present Christmas 2014 so it has done well. It gets a lot of use. I may have to buy another one. There’s one which plays a tune when it’s ready, rather like my washing machine!

My daughter bought Covid home from Turkey, she’s not happy, taste and smell gone today.
I am pleased the podiatrist told me today I don’t have foot fungus, nice not to have something!
But, most importantly, we had rain, overnight and this morning, much, much more needed, but after ten weeks it’s a start.
