It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.
We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Although you’ll definitely be missed grandmab good for you for doing what you need to do. Hope to see you again when the time is right x
Grandmabatty have a break and come back when you are ready.
I am posting much less currently, I am reasonably ok but don’t want to talk about my situation.
I am dealing with it and love to read how you are all are and how your lives are going.
I rejoice with your happy news and sympathise with those who need it
Take care everyone.
A cloudier day here but very humid. The house holds the heat no matter how many windows are open (on the cool side of the house) and it’s 27 degrees upstairs at the moment!
A fairly busy day, changed the bedclothes, did some ironing and resumed attacking the weeds in the front garden. One of my neighbours did ‘no mow May’ and all the weeds from her lawn have spread seeds onto several front gardens.
Best wishes to those in the quiet corner.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.
Ow Grandmabatty take a break by all means but remember your friends are here waiting and hoping you will return when it’s the right time for you. 💗
TillyTrotter that cat lounging on the window sill looks delightful. Are you sure he/she wouldn't like a change of scenery? I miss Tara my previous cat, it has been 3 years.
Grandmabatty I am so sorry to hear you are having a rest. Please don't forget to come back when the time is right.
The only time I am pleased I live in a cold house is now, in the middle of a heatwave. I don't need a fan on, it is cool enough.
Oh *Grandmabatty we will sorely miss you. Haste ye back lovely lady - bc it won’t be the same without you!
L’il Miss went home with a Greggs lunch but sadly Yorkshire Miss couldn’t make it over this afternoon after all. Soon, I hope.
I’m tired tonight.
Last night was such fun having L’il Miss ti sleep here but it was one of those random nights when I just could not sleep! Aargh! L’il Miss was flat out by 9:30pm
But I definitely saw 2am! Why? 🤷♀️
Anyway I’m so tired I feel like space cadet so I’m off to sleep now. I was going to watch the first ever episode of Clarkson’s Farm this evening now I’ve signed up for my 28 day free trial, but tomorrow is a whole new day untouched and I need some sleep!
Our Welsh friends have just left, back to their camper, they tow a little car that they use to get about, it’s been great to see them, an unexpected surprise for us all.
Earlier a tidy up Saturday before the heat starts tomorrow when we’ll feel like doing not a lot for the week. Having said that, MrJ isn’t bothered by it, my thermostat is different from his.
Hope those away are having a great time.
You’ll be missed, Grandmabatty. Hope we see you back here soon
Charleygirl be careful what you are offering. This tabby boy eats up to 4 pouches of food a day as he’s still not fully grown - he is eating me out of house and home.
If you are still sure, he can come and have a holiday with you.
PS he is very cuddly.
Are you sure he is not fully grown? I am not surprised he has 4 pouches a day because seeing them in a supermarket, they have shrunk disgracefully. He would also get treats of cooked chicken and I may offer him some fish and see the reaction. He could share my bed at night, having loads of space for himself, he could stretch out. The rear garden is enclosed, what not to like here?
Spiros is also on my list so please watch out!
We could share him. Cats live quite happily in 2 homes as long as each feeds them well 😸
I think it is a splendid idea but I don't know where you live, and I doubt if if it is remotely close to London. My driving days are over.
He does look a handsome boy
It’s a glorious day here, two GC are in the Spa Pool, DH is dozing in the shade DD is keeping cool inside, and I have just come upstairs to charge up various devices and power packs.
I love summer 🌞👍
Our last car was a big fluffy ginger boy, will try and post a picture of him.
Enjoy your Sunday however you are spending it 🙋♀️
I love cats and for many years I have always had one. Two would be fine provided they don't fight too often. I like a peaceful life, gibing them love and cuddles. I have never owned a ginger cat.
When I was married and in my 30's I cared for two dogs belonging to a friend for 2 weeks. When she returned, it was embarrassing because on dog wanted to stay and refused to move. The dog was gorgeous and resembled the Dulux dog.
No pets here I'm afraid.
A warm day, essential watering done early, the front will be watered later.
I hope your daughter’s wedding went well yesterday SueD a mixed day for you 💐
My son called in, beer for MrJ his stepfather, my daughter’s house still harbouring d&v, no visit from her.
Enjoy your evening all.
No pets here either! I am a doting granny to DD1’s labradoodle, and much as I might love to have another dog myself, it wouldn’t be practical. I look after the labradoodle when DD1 and her DH both go into the office on the same day.
Another warm day today, but with a lovely breeze. I’ve pottered in the garden and done some washing. DD1 and family (&dog) visited this morning. My son in law removed a large spider from the back bedroom and also checked the tyre pressures on my car. DD2 and family have been away for the weekend. The 11=year old enjoyed her few days away with the school and has several induction days at senior school later this week.
Apparently we at officially having a heatwave here in Essex, which is forecast to last all week and getting hotter as the week goes on. I won’t be doing much this week. (No change there!)
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, stay cool!
‘Evening All’
Boy it’s been a hot ‘un hasn’t it? Bit humid really. I’ve just been to the front door and waters my tubs - all 5 of them 😁
I’ve had coffee this morning with the little family and a malt whisky this afternoon with my stepfather as it’s FD.
Sat on the bed now mug of tea to the side of me and loving Clarkson’s Farm! I’ve fancied watching this for ages I do think he’s something of a Marmite figure though! I like him but I know some of my friend don’t! 😁
Hello kitchen people,
Gosh, it’s been hot! I went to church this morning. Just eight in the congregation plus the vicar and organist. Being a very old church it was beautifully cool.
We’ve just finished dinner - roast gammon with new potatoes, salad and home grown courgettes which I cooked in butter and olive oil. Pudding was raspberry crumble with lashings of cream. We had some prosecco left over from my cousins visit on Friday. So I’m stuffed and slightly tipsy!
OH is watering the garden. We had plenty of rain yesterday but it’s so hot today that the benefit has probably worn off.
Have a good rest of the evening and sleep 💤 tight.
Father’s Day - I found this photo of my dad. He must be in his 40s. He died at 48 and this was taken when we lived in Seychelles for two years. He died a couple of months after we returned to the UK,
FGT2 I have a granny crush on Jeremy Clarkson.
He is far from perfect and speaks his mind, but he definitely has a soft side.
Me too GG13! 😁
LLFL a lovely photo of your dad gone too soon. Like mine 47 of bowel cancer when I was 23 with a 4 week old baby.
Today started warm but cooled down by lunchtime. I feel sorry for those of you live in the south, it sounds as if it’s going to be extremely hot.
Dgd is off to London on Tuesday morning with her school, she’s a redhead and already knows to keep her hat on and apply sunscreen (I hope).
Like Redcar’s dgd she has induction days for senior school when she is back. They grow up so quickly don’t they.
My darling dad died four weeks before I was married. He was only 52, but he’s not forgotten. All of his grandchildren arrived in the years after. They and him missed so much.
Sleep well everyone.
