It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Morning! Almost back to normal life -we just have to pack the granddog in the car then head home to sunny Suffolk.
Here’s DGD in her not- a - bridesmaid dress!

Usedtobeblonde Mon 22-Jun-26 11:07:13

Beautiful child with beautiful hair, Nannytopsy.
Another day indoors for me, I cannot cope with the heat.
Joy on Saturday, I have found gardeners, two young men who work really hard.
They cleared a border and a rockery of weeds and mowed the front lawn , it looks so much better.
They will come in two weeks and work their
magic on the back garden.
It is a big mess at the moment.
Both my GD and her BF suffer from hay fever , my GD is particularly affected this year so they haven’t been able to help.
As soon as they leave for their new home I shall get a weekly cleaner in then I can just relax .
Ihope you can all enjoy this hot weather if you like it or do as I shall and stay indoors.

Beautiful picture, Nannytopsy.
No heat here, grey, breezy and cool. (Co Durham)

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 22-Jun-26 17:20:24

It’s sure been hot! Still is 😁

I went on the bus for a routine mammogram at a hospital 20 minutes away then coming home I stayed in the bus past Sainsbury’s and home and 10 minutes later was mooching round the Trafford Centre in the wonderful air con!
Big bonus.

I bought this pair of Mary Jane’s from ā€˜Office’ as I’m attending a funeral on Friday and felt these might strike a better balance in the heat between too casual sandals and full closed leather shoes in this heat.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 22-Jun-26 17:22:28

Aw NannyTopsy gorgeous dress and beautiful hair your granddaughter has!

Redcar Mon 22-Jun-26 17:44:26

A lovely photo of your DGD nannytopsy.

Nice shoes too fgt and definitely suitable for a funeral. I hope they’re comfortable!

Warm again here but breezy. I’m sitting in front of the open French doors in my living room and there’s cool air coming in, and blowing the doors shut!

I’ve just seen my friend with dementia, her DGD is sitting with her tomorrow as her DH has a hospital appointment. Friend was chatty, but neither her DH nor I could make out what she was saying.

utbb well done for finding the gardeners, hopefully they will have your garden under control in no time. My gardener is still poorly and unable to work, so I am having to do it myself, slowly without annoying my back too much! I really must water at least some of it this evening. Showers are forecast and I’m hoping some of them fall this way!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 22-Jun-26 17:55:17

Ooh FGT2 I have the beige ones in my basket , I am trying to justify (to myself) buying them.

Jaxjacky Mon 22-Jun-26 18:26:21

Pretty Nannytopsy aren’t young children delightful.
Am average day on the voluntary phone, all lifts sorted, very grateful clients.
We’ve had blue sky and sun all day, suddenly cloud, I daren’t hope…
Quiche and picky bits for dinner, including potatoes out of the garden a few hours ago.
Very appropriate FGT āœ…

Georgesgran Mon 22-Jun-26 18:29:20

A few drops of rain earlier too here GrandmaC47

Charleygirl5 Mon 22-Jun-26 18:34:12

Nannytopsy a pretty dress on a pretty young lady. At least she is wearing it and it is not in a wardrobe for " best" and she outgrows it.

I went to my local town today to buy shoes and slippers. They have no wide shoes, and he showed me open toe sandals, his idea of a pair of slippers. There are no shoe shops around.

My house is very cool, so this hot weather doesn't bother me. I have a fan in the unlikely event I will need one.

cornergran Mon 22-Jun-26 19:02:55

That’s a keeper photo nannyt and those shoes are definitely keepers fgt. I love shoes, sadly my feet don’t now.

We’ve just had a huge thunderstorm, so noisy. Torrential rain which flooded the paths and then disappeared. Still raining a bit, the storm is circling. The garden will be happy, well those plants that still have petals on the blooms. It’s already a lot cooler indoors. Hooray.

Best wishes to everyone. Let’s be careful out there!

Redcar Mon 22-Jun-26 19:17:09

cornergran please send that thunderstorm eastwards!

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 22-Jun-26 19:42:18

Hello kitchen people.

What a hot day. I drove up to Kew and my car thermometer told me it was 30 degrees. At least I have air con.

Me and granddaughter have just got back from Pizza Express. We enjoyed the usual Italian meal and I had a glass of Prosecco. She should be having her Sports Day tomorrow but it’s been postponed until next week. OH should have been having a target shooting day tomorrow but that’s been cancelled because of the heat, I believe tomorrow’s forecast is for even hotter weather. I will probably just toddle down to Kew Gardens and pop into every cafe for a restorative.

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight when it’s bedtime.

Go for it woman! 😁

GrannyGravy13 Mon 22-Jun-26 21:59:17

The Imp went to sleep quickly, hopefully I will do the same.

Lovely photo Nannytopsy

We haven’t had the extreme heat forecast today, it has been rather nice.

Night night folks šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

Charleygirl5 Tue 23-Jun-26 12:07:18

I sleep like a log even in this heat, but lightning woke me up. I didn't hear thunder and saw one small puddle in the morning.
All my clothes will be dry.

My house feels cool, so I only have to think of an easy supper and watch England play against Ghana tonight. I hate the chitchat. I wish the players would come on after 5 minutes of introductions and start.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 23-Jun-26 16:37:39

It’s currently 30° we are going to eat outside tonight (7.30’ish) only paper serviettes in the house are Christmas ones šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Might have to use the linen ones šŸ™€

I feel like I am on holiday, lazing around, reading and doing little else.

SueDonim Tue 23-Jun-26 16:43:04

Just popping in to report that my DD’s wedding at the weekend was absolutely wonderful. Even the drab weather forecast turned out to be wrong and we had sunshine and pleasant warmth for a perfect weekend!

Two of my young GC were so enamoured of the whole thing that one is planning to get married there themselves (even though they’re still at school!) and the other says he needs to find more weddings to go to at weekends because it was so much fun. 🤣🤣

Usedtobeblonde Tue 23-Jun-26 17:05:43

So pleased for you and your family SueD weddings are emotional at times and yours must have been.
I have stayed indoors most of the day.
I don’t really need an excuse for laziness but the hot weather is a sound one.
Stay hydrated and cool everyone.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Jun-26 18:19:42

I’m very pleased SueD it sounds delightful.
A warm day, no storms overnight, bedding dried in a jiffy, we had a good breeze this morning, then it went.
MrJ is at bowls, my son rang to check on me in the heat, not sure how to take that!
My daughter rang for a chat, her school isn’t closing (years R to 6) tomorrow or at all, but the children aren’t allowed outside - madness.
Our cleaner has been, as well as clean, it smells lovely.
Have a pleasant evening all.

GrannySomerset Tue 23-Jun-26 18:41:48

Wonderful Cleaner has done a shortened version of her usual weekly blitz and the house is clean and I plan to very little for the next few days - choir has been cancelled tomorrow which does not surprise me as we are an elderly bunch and all the advice seems to be not to exert ourselves.

Am about to enjoy a cheese salad and glass of white wine and hope that eventually I will be able to get some sleep. Inertia is surprisingly exhausting.

Redcar Tue 23-Jun-26 20:00:09

sueD I’m so pleased your DD’s wedding was such an enjoyable occasion.

cornergran/thank you for the thunderstorm last night! A lot of welcome rain too, although the earth looks dry again now! I’m not watering tonight anyway, the pots are all sitting in saucers of water and hopefully the roots of the plants in the ground are still damp.
jaxjacky both DDs have checked that I’m ok this evening! But usually one or other will ring most evenings. DD1 has a migraine so was feeling out of sorts. DD2 was standing in the paddling pool! I’m tempted to get one myself!

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, keep cool if you can.

teabagwoman Tue 23-Jun-26 20:02:51

SueD that wedding sounds wonderful.

My lovely son in law came over this morning and put in a new shower unit for me; I’m so lucky that my daughter married a man that can turn his hand to anything. She forwarded the Whirlwind’s school report which, mainly, made pleasant reading though I did have to smile at the various teacher’s attempts to use gender neutral language throughout.

I’m not getting very much done and meals are very simple as my kitchen gets unbearably hot in this weather. The upside is that it gives me plenty of time for books. I’m reading A Far Flung Life by M L Stedman and enjoying every word.

Now it’s time to do some watering.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 23-Jun-26 20:29:01

So pleased for you SueDonim I love a wedding, so full hopes and dreams

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 23-Jun-26 20:47:54

ā€˜Evening All’

Delighted to hear how well the family wedding went SueDonim you’ll have been happy then relieved. I bet it was very emotional at times, quite understandably.

I’m not long in from Bury (by tram then bus home). Jumped straight into a cool shower - bliss! It’s been sticky and humid. I loved seeing my two friends we had an awful lot of catching up to do.

Mug of tea beside me now and more Clarkson’s Farm. I won’t mention it again I’m sure I’ve banged on about it enough now!

I hope England win but I shan’t be watching as to be honest I’m not interested, World Cup or not.
