Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.
DS is coming today to stay until Tuesday cook for us. I did explain I can cook but he likes doing it.
I will wash the towels as it is sunny. Yesterday was still pretty cold.
I hope you feel better as the day goes on Gagaran that was quite a fall.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from a duller Black Country.
Sun was shining most of yesterday, so I cut the Lawn and weeded, whilst MrJ trimmed back bushes, garden is looking much better now.
I sent a message Friday to DGD (2) who is in the middle of A levels. Apparently she has 2 more left, Monday and Tuesday. My message said, 'hope all going well...you are on the home straight now'? She had to ask DD what that meant
We cooked ourselves Tapas last night, Patas Bravas, Prawns in chilli, green beans, Chicken wings, and Pork Belly.
Today, pack suitcases ready for the off to Portugal Tuesday morning. Going to a hotel near Airport early evening tomorrow as flight is an early one.
Ouch Gagagran that's sounds frightening and really painful. I hope you feel much better as the day goes on.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky with a few clouds this morning, a sunny day is forecast but not especially warm. Yesterday was a breezy day but pleasant. I planted a few perennials in the front garden, but it was hard work, the garden was surprisingly dry despite recent rain. More to plant but I won’t do it today.
gagagran that sounds very painful, rose bushes are vicious things to fall into.. I hope you’re not in too much pain today,
ekwa I hope your aches improve soon. Take it easy while they get better.
I hope all who are in pain or are caring for poorly loved ones find some relief today.
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.
Good morning from S E Essex, the sky is blue and it’s warm, hip hip hooray 🌞🌞🌞
GD and Little Monster have just woken up, they are reading quietly in their room. They have requested pancakes and fruit for breakfast, so that is my first task of the day.
GD has a birthday party to go to late afternoon, so I will prep dinner (roast pork) and write out a time table for DH to put things in the oven and turn things on…
Oh gagagran how horrible for you, take it easy 🌸🌸🌸
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday 🙋♀️
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another fine day is forecast.
Lunch out today with younger son. We will take separate cars as OH will drive straight to see his bees and check how the new Queen is getting on. I will take son to Oxford for his train back to London.
Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with difficulties.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dry. Like many of you, I had an interrupted night. I was awake from half two till after four. I finally got up and had a cuppa. Gagagran that sounds awful! Please take things easy for a while.
Yesterday I cleared out most of aldis food shelves in preparation for the arrival of the boys. I also stripped the bed and got a couple of washes done. Then the whirlwinds appeared. Big hugs all round then, "I'm hungry grandma." Dd and Dsil left to go shopping and I made them lunch. Watermelon, a peanut butter sandwich, mini sausage rolls, and crisps for dgs1 and strawberries, grapes, crisps and mini sausage rolls for dgs2. Afterwards they 'helped' me to put salty water on the weeds on my driveway and path and had great fun doing it. Salt was the substance of the day. More eating. They then did experiments with salt, water and paint at the kitchen table while I made salt dough for them to play with. More eating. Dgs2 went for a nap while dgs1 watched The Blue Planet. More eating. Dd arrived to pick them up and I waved them off, happy to see them go! I chatted to my neighbour for a while who had just arrived home.
Today will be cleaning the kitchen- I couldn't face it yesterday. Then I will potter about. If it stays dry, more weed management. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a sunny Suffolk which feels warmer than yesterday with its strong breeze.
So sorry Gagagran to read of your fall yesterday resulting in you missing the concert as well as suffering cuts and bruises and no doubt stress. Hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on.
I’m tackling the mound of washing from the holiday and will be very cavalier about which items really need ironing.
DS coming to pick us up for lunch asa continuation of my birthday celebrations. We can easily drive to the hotel he has chosen as it is only about 20 miles away but he offered to do so which means an extra couple of hours driving for him. The rest of his family will meet us there.
I hope the A12 Gingster behaves as well for us as it did for you yesterday!
Hope all have a pleasant day and can enjoy some sun.
Good morning from North Wales.Dull at the moment.
A busy day yesterday. The children went to an eco talk at the library and made models of sea turtles then on to the community hub to make sun catchers.I got the uniforms ready for tomorrow when we got back as we are off to Jodrell Bank today.
Gagagran your fall sounds dreadful, wishing you a speedy recovery.I’m sorry you missed the concert after all the rehearsals.
Wishing everyone a good day🌷🦩
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is a bright start to the day, and I am late on parade again.
I have just had a message from DS to say they are waiting to board the shuttle on the first leg of their French road trip. It’s an adventure for them as they have never taken their motorhome abroad before.
I gave my new cordless mower an outing on the top lawn yesterday and was pleased with it overall though I think it would have preferred a bowling green to the patchy, undulating effort that is my grass! In the evening I gave my poor box hedge another anti caterpillar treatment. My neighbour was also treating his. We are both doubtful about whether it will work, but have to try.
Today I will strip my bed and wash the sheets. Later I will have a walk around the top of the valley. Apart from that, a lazy day.
Gaga I hope you recover quickly from your fall. I know from recent experience that these things tend to feel worse before they start to feel better.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester. I thought I was early to post but crikey there’s 34 posts already! I’ve my TiB now and will read through them all.
Just to say after my crying jag last night I went to bed early, slept well and have woken calmer in my mind again. Widowhood thoughts can ambush when least expected I’m beginning to realise. Grief, as my bereavement counsellor said, isn’t linear.
Today I’m popping into my larder downstairs at 11am when it opens as my fridge is empty. I’m also getting a small shop for my stepfather and will go over on the bus to see him. His older brother died recently and his best friend too earlier in the week. I can tell how sad he is when we have our daily calls. I’m hoping an extended visit today will cheer him. I must think of a way to encourage him to come out I’ve said ‘you’re becoming a reckuse’. It’s sad to see the change in him.
Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
I had a quiet day yesterday after my week in Cornwall, washing outside to dry and feeling tired after all the walking up hill and down dale. It was nice to be met so enthusiastically by my cat, who gave me a good talking to and hasn’t left my side since I returned.
I’m still keeping the suitcase at arm’s length apart from the washing, although there’s not much to do. I keep two suitcases on the go, one very small for overnight or two/three night stays and a larger for longer. Now I’m getting myself in a muddle..
It’s nice to see my roses doing well and I started watching the first Poldark series, inspired by my visit, having watched the second. That’s my television viewing sorted for a bit. I have a new IPad and need to transfer from my old pad which is not charging.
I’m invited to my friend’s open mic night tonight, but my backache and Poldark will probably win the day.
Thoughts to Gagagran and all🌺
Oh goodness, gaga. I hope you’re feeling in less pain and shock today.
I’m very often lonely; I don’t really know that many people and seeing or speaking to DD’s doesn’t happen because the family is so incredibly busy and sociable. Teaching and the time difference doesn’t work for DS, so contact with them is initiated by them.
Dear GM,
So sorry to hear that, GM, you do so many things and seem very busy.
But it's having one or two close friends that's really important, isn't it.
Have a good Sunday.
Ouch, Gagagran ! I hope that's all better soon.
I am with you, gMattie, in being lonely despite having a local life of sorts. I miss shared jokes, someone else making a cup of tea, just being with someone who knew me and loved me despite my many failings. I know that this isn’t going to change so must make the most of things, but it doesn’t get any easier.
Absolutely, gS. Also, I wasn’t complaining, just commenting.
For the record, Itwas me who insisted on moving here. When her dad was dying, DD , who was very close to him, had to do the very long journey to be with him.
With my Philip, who lived near us in Kent, and was supposed to be near me in widowhood - but he died. I determined that I wouldn’t put DD through the journeys again, so I moved.
My busyness is so that I speak to people most days. The church congregation has been and still is very friendly and supportive, but they are young and have their lives and families.
Thank you for your concern. I am privileged to have you around and to talk to! ❤️
