Just been reading about H&M’s forthcoming proposed visit to the UK with their children, pertaining to the Invictus Games which are due to take place next year.

Apparently, it’s a private visit, and accommodation has been offered to them on a ‘Royal estate’, but no mention of where or if it’s been accepted.

Security issues not revealed, plus whether or not it involves meeting up with the King.

We shall wait and see how it all evolves.

Maremia

I wonder what makes a bedroom 'naff'?

One that’s smaller than your brother’s?

David49 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:28:00

Cold, cramped, damp, an old bed that creaks, lumpy mattress, exactly what you find in an old house that isn't used very often. The staff can get some rooms up to standard for the important guests, the rest rough it.

David49 is that the description from him?
I haven't heard this so just wondering.

I would have expected "naff" to refer to decor really.
I would have guessed it meant tacky, cheap-looking, devoid of good taste, or hopelessly outdated (in the context of a bedroom).

Damp and cramped and with a lumpy bed/uncared for feel wouldn't be "naff" to me - it would more likely be "dingy" or "decrepit" I think.

Apparently, Harry is still hoping to bring his wife and children on the visit next week, if the security issues can be sorted.

I think he must think we, the British public, are waiting with bated breath to see if they will actually turn up.

If he didn’t keep it in the news, the security issues wouldn’t be an issue.

🤷‍♀️

Oh my god....this is all so entertaining!!

Quite so Calendargirl. What is the great security risk? What are they so afraid of that doesn’t apply at home?

How does he think that?
He cant, in my opinion. So it is all drama.

The Princess of Wales completed the three peaks challenge this weekend. No advance publicity, no media following her, just quietly got on with it, a small press release afterwards, dignified.

NotSpaghetti Mon 29-Jun-26 21:32:18

Maybe he's already given the required 30 days notice?

Taichinan Tue 30-Jun-26 02:55:52

Absolutely Jaxjacky. That is style! And breeding And maturity. Someone who doesn't need to shout "Look at me!" to be noticed. Harry on the other hand is little more than a petulant spoiled brat, angry at fate that put him on this earth second to his brother. I used to like him once ..........

Yes or when they swan off on their 'royal tours'! I also read somewhere that they have recently been holidaying in Portugal.
However, maybe if that if they get official protection here the officers would be armed but if they bring their own bodyguards they would not be allowed to be.

Aveline Tue 30-Jun-26 07:50:35

How do we know what Harry is thinking or planning? How are we tipped off about this? Oh yes. H&M PR on the case?

MarieElla Tue 30-Jun-26 10:10:48

Yes and (according to their own PR), H is crying constantly.....
Those poor kids. Hopefully they're spending all their time with nannies while their parents get on with the important job of ranting and ravibg against the UK...

merlotgran Tue 30-Jun-26 10:55:50

I think some of this ‘insider information’ is being exaggerated.

Now, I am no fan of this pair, but could you give us some examples of their ‘ranting and raving against the UK’?
I heard Piers Morgan saying they were constantly trying to bring down the monarchy, and I haven’t seen any evidence of that either.

MarieElla Tue 30-Jun-26 19:14:45

Daddima examples of his rantings are reported in the news daily.
His interview with Oprah and the book Spare attempts to damage the monarchy....
Do you really think they're not trying to harm the RF?

merlotgran Tue 30-Jun-26 19:45:24

I’d call it whining and whingeing rather than ranting and raving.
Either way we’re all a bit sick of it now.

MarieElla Tue 30-Jun-26 19:48:36

Yes, I agree.
I'll stick to calling it ranting and raving and you stick to calling it whining and whingeing.

Well, it’s been announced that surprise, surprise, The Duchess of Sussex and children are no longer coming to London, as it’s too unsafe without the (taxpayer funded) security that Harry insists on.

Calendargirl Sat 04-Jul-26 15:14:48

They might join him later in the week in Birmingham, not sure why that is less unsafe?

A visit to Althorp has not been ruled out apparently, (Diana’s grave).

Whether a meeting with the King is going to happen, who knows.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 04-Jul-26 15:34:02

Just more publicity.

Syracute Sat 04-Jul-26 15:34:35

Why do people believe the vitriol written by certain types of newspapers ?
For all we know there could be secret visits by all parties that are not reported or noted for the safety, security and privacy of all the family.

Aveline Sat 04-Jul-26 15:37:21

How much security did the have on their Portuguese holiday?

eazybee Sat 04-Jul-26 15:53:17

Harry is determined to force his father to grant him the security he thinks he is entitled to, as a 'Prince of the Blood' as he once described himself.
Charles, I think, is equally determined not to be blackmailed; I suspect he is nor that bothered about seeing his troublesome son, and if it means yet another postponed meeting with his scarcely known grandchildren, so be it. Meghan doesn't really enter in to it, although I doubt she believes that.
It is very clear Harry has very little else to do.

Syracute Sat 04-Jul-26 15:57:19

It’s clear some people on this thread are mindreaders of the Royal Family.
