I’ve just seen a picture of the King Sweltering in a suit and tie yesterday. Surely, in this day and age nobody would object to him at least taking his jacket off.
William is always a lot more informal.

Greyduster

When he is an official at a formal event, for example, the Chelsea flower show, he still manages to loom as if he’s just got out of bed in whatever he is wearing! It really gets up my nose! Can’t the man make an effort? Anyway. End of rant.

The award for sartorially elegant, not a hair out of place, wouldn’t be seen dead in crumpled linen gardener, is sitting on Alan Titchmarsh’s mantelpiece.
I think they should change images for a bit of entertainment. 😂

I retain the right to live here. I definitely like the royals but to my knowledge have never been known to bow and scrape.

sadgranma - Yes, I thought something similar in Hawaiian mode. But why not go the whole hog? A grass skirt would probably be cooler than linen trousers, and he wouldn't have to worry about the creases.

You do know that Monty Don is widely considered as a style icon? He’s a cool dresser, and of course, what he wears keeps him cool too. There’s nothing wrong with a rumpled linen jacket at all. It wouldn’t look right on the King though, because he’s short and dapper, not tall and rangy.

No short-sleeved shirts for me; I just roll up the long ones.

Casdon Sun 28-Jun-26 19:18:23

You have that in common with both the King and Monty grumppa.
