I’ve just seen a picture of the King Sweltering in a suit and tie yesterday. Surely, in this day and age nobody would object to him at least taking his jacket off.
William is always a lot more informal.

Cossy Thu 25-Jun-26 10:49:22

Yes I agree but more so the poor people in all of our armed forces.

Even if it’s not linen (and god forbid he should turn out looking like Monty b****y Don), he will probably be wearing very lightweight pure wool suit which is cool in Summer and will not crease.

To the anti Royals, dont like living here,go live somewhere else..simples.

Mojack26 Sun 28-Jun-26 14:03:35

What a nasty comment!

Lupatria Sun 28-Jun-26 14:13:23

i saw that photo and wondered while admiring the waistcoat. a later video showed that king Charles was wearing, as he always does when in Scotland, full highland dress which I am sure is fairly cool especially in a presumably air conditioned building.
he looked as smart as he always does.

Nasty comment re Monty Don. He's very elegant.

Sparky51 Sun 28-Jun-26 14:31:07

Grow up..how old are you..5 ?

Why should they? We live in a free country where we can like and dislike what we want , when we want and how we want. Are you saying we shouldn't have that right? That people who don't bow and scrape shouldn't be allowed to live here?

Rude

You can be anti-royal but still like living in the UK. They are not mutually exclusive states.

Are you suggesting a totalitarian state where you get kicked out if you don't like the status quo?

Oh yes somebody would.
Since some people object to their very existence, taking a jacket off because of his age and the heat, would be the ultimate crime.

He’s made a trademark out of looking a crumpled mess. I don’t know how he gets away with it.

Jaxjacky Sun 28-Jun-26 15:32:13

I don’t understand Greyduster he’s a gardener, not an official at a formal event?

Greyduster Sun 28-Jun-26 15:35:07

When he is an official at a formal event, for example, the Chelsea flower show, he still manages to loom as if he’s just got out of bed in whatever he is wearing! It really gets up my nose! Can’t the man make an effort? Anyway. End of rant.

gransruleok Sun 28-Jun-26 15:37:45

It’s very obvious a lot of gransnetters are getting overheated and are not getting much sleep, but we are all in the same boat so let’s try to be civil at least. And, by the way, Monty Don is a gardener.

MickyD Sun 28-Jun-26 15:48:16

Who says anti royals don’t like living here??? What a strange and rude comment 🤷

crazyH Sun 28-Jun-26 15:49:01

sadgranma I thought the same thing too.
A short-sleeved cotton shirt (or perhaps a Hawaiian shirt😂) and linen trousers . He would have been cool and handsome !

ComeOnGran Sun 28-Jun-26 15:57:20

My daughter went out with a posh boy for a while and he told my husband that short sleeves are ‘common’ 🤭 I guess there’s a posh dress code 🤷‍♀️

Grandmotherto8 Sun 28-Jun-26 16:08:40

William is also much lazier than his father. He will be a terrible king.

I can't imagine what it must be like to wear a bearskin and full rig-out. No wonder they often pass out.

Calendargirl Sun 28-Jun-26 16:34:54

I’m sure Charles’s valet makes sure that his boss is ‘comfortable’ in whatever he’s wearing. I bet Charles soon says if things don’t suit.

Why are short sleeved shirts ‘common’.? I think on a hot day, a SS shirt looks much smarter than a long sleeved one.

I commented to DH on Friday, the hottest day of the year, why were the BBC News reporters telling us about these unprecedented temperatures and yet still wearing LS shirts, (and no hat)?
