Royal Dress Code in Hot Weather

Just seen a photo of Prince George wearing a jacket and tie at Wimbledon yesterday, looking so hot. He’s only 13 for goodness sake!

I thought that too. Poor child!

Dress code. Perhaps Wimbledon could show its petticoats a bit and allow a relaxation when it is above say 25c?

I must say it does seem terribly stuffy, but weirdly it is what many people like about Wimbledon, and I guess makes it unique.

I’ve just looked up the dress code for the Royal Box and it stipulates jacket and tie for men but it does seem unfair for a 13 year old.

Why should they? We live in a free country where we can like and dislike what we want , when we want and how we want. Are you saying we shouldn't have that right? That people who don't bow and scrape shouldn't be allowed to live here?

You may not believe it was George's choice Luckygirl but you don't know do you.

I can't believe that Wimbledon or his parents would have insisted that he wear a jacket and tie if he didn't want too.

George isn't your GS Luckygirl so you have no idea what he would choose to wear for such a special occasion.

As soon as I saw him before the final yesterday, I knew this would be brought up.

It’s one of the things us Brits are known for, dress standards at big events, Wimbledon, Ascot, Royal Garden Parties etc.,

If only this could continue into theatres where I find standards have definitely slipped this millennium.

Even in top hotels and restaurants the standards of dress has diminished which I find rather disappointing.

A lot of our dress codes were set many years ago when our summers were very rarely as hot as they’re becoming.
Lightweight linen jackets could replace the traditional summer blazer and still be smart and formal.
No need to frighten the horses!

Obviously training to be a hot King starts young. He has to get used to it. Not sweating is a royal trait.

Charlotte's very light dress looked like pure silk. Don't mistake that cool princess for a lightweight.

Louis was on the loose in the back garden at home, probably up to no good. Training to be the black sheep/bad-boy prince of his generation. It's a royal tradition, England expects.

Archie and Lilibet are back home scribbling a tell-it-all book about their Grandparents which will be serialised on GN to whip up publicity.

This year at a favoured hotel I noticed many middle-aged/elderly men appearing for dinner (full silver service) wearing shorts, really not a pretty sight with elderly legs. Younger men appeared in loose chinos, much more attractive and possibly cooler.
Same applies for middle aged women.

Anyone who ends a comment with "simples" can I think be safely ignored.

I assure you I was not one of those elderly men in shorts, eazybee. Mine are strictly for the beach (and I have tanned knees as a souvenir of my one day on a beach so far this year).
