Craig and Lindsay Foreman end their hunger strike in prison in Iran.

This is the foolish British couple who, despite strong advice to the contrary, insisted on visiting Iran during their motorcycle journey from Europe to Australia.
Their family apparently pleaded with them to not include Iran, and advice from the government is of course that Iran is not a safe country to visit.
Despite all that, they thought they knew best, and have been imprisoned on espionage charges.

I agree with most of the posts here, said it all, First going into Iran against all advice then starving themselves at their age hoping for what? They seem to both make unreal choices,
Stupidity gone to seed and bearing fruit comes to mind,
My heart goes out to them

There's a GoFundMe for Lindsay Foreman currently standing at £22K if anyone is daft enough to wants to back up their emotional support with financial support 😏
Of course there is...shock

Given their supporters on here, I fully expected to see a surge in generous donations but nope - nothing added for days and overall very very slow growth.

It won't take long to count my donation. They have brought all this on themselves.

What supporters on here? No one has said they support the Foremans. In fact virtually everyone has said they were stupid, selfish and entitled. It's perfectly possible to think that but still feel a bit sorry for the dreadful predicament they are in now even if it is entirely of their own making.

Many have said they want them to be released so contributing would be helpful.

I can’t believe that anyone with even half a brain would have gone into Iran.

I am sorry that this couple are in an Iranian jail because the experience will be horrendous but, like many posters feel that they have brought it on themselves by ignoring all guidance and, seemingly, not even having the most basic knowledge of current affairs. However, it is their family that I truly feel sorry for. I have a very good friend whose middle-aged son, married with teenage children, suddenly decided to go to Israel recently with a friend. She was worried sick but, thankfully, he returned safely, although he almost did not.
We have extended family in the Far East and have been invited to a a wedding there later in the year. The last few times we have been there, we have travelled with UAE (United Arab Emirates), which involves a short stopover in Dubai airport. They are a very good airline. However, with the situation in the Middle East escalating, we are looking at alternative options that bypass the whole region altogether. It is not worth the risk

Having said that I feel sorry for anyone in Iranian jails that haven’t done any criminal acts, and there will be many.

I was thinking that too

I also wondered if this couple thought they would gain public support by their hunger strike. The truth is with all the terrible things going on in the world, wars and floods, alot of people think they deserve it because of their arrogance, don't care, are indifferent, or they don't know about them.

It is harsh but there is alot more things to worry about at the moment. They are not a concern for most of the public.

Lindsay’s online presence is interesting. In addition to the TV programme, she has courted publicity over the years, interviews with magazines etc and various socials. They are seasoned travellers and in no way could anyone describe them as naive. Arrogant might be closer to the mark and really thinking the rules don’t apply to them. It was only a jolly on a bike anyway wasn’t it despite it being presented as ‘research’. The emotional burden they have put on their 4 children, the youngest of whom is I think 19 is unacceptable. And at a difficult time in global politics, they have given the FO another headache they could do with out. When people like this do what they did, they are basically saying ‘here I am. Take me hostage’. With NZR she was a hostage for a debt that Tbf was owed and it was paid ( not that her situation has the slightest similarity to these two) . Now Iran clearly I’d guess knows what it wants in exchange. This could put genuinely innocent lives in danger - who knows what ‘price’ will be paid by other innocent people.

There seem to be credible rumours that the Iranians want this charmer released in exchange for the Foremans. That raises all sorts of interesting questions doesn’t it?

Well said Anna. Taking a balanced view requires nuanced thinking and the ability (often provided by varied life experience) to see things from another perspective. Yes I do feel sorry for their predicament and yes I do think they made the wrong decision in the first place. See? It's possible to do both. Not a single person here has said their decision was a good one. People who hike in the mountains with inadequate equipment or non-swimmers in the sea? A teenager in trouble on the street due to excess alcohol? When they get into trouble they need the rescue services. Foolish? Hell, yes. Leave them to die? They deserve it for their foolish decisions? I've no doubt some here would condemn but opinions might change if it were their children. Some posters here love a scrap and it's good that we can all have an opinion. If people choose to donate to a GoFundMe that's their choice. I'd advise some research into how that money will be spent and by whom but actually it's none of my business.

I shook the penny jar but then realised I'd spent it all on slot machines at the seaside. Oh dear.

There are many situations in life where there is no balanced view to take. Some things are very clear cut . Feeling sympathy is a choice and in this situation not one I’ve made.

Is feeling sympathy a choice, I thought it was an involuntary emotional response? `I suppose you can choose to suppress that response, but if you don't experience it then there is nothing to suppress.
