Octopus didn’t say it was a problem. I too think it’s a gimmick and I will only be using my fan, as usual, at that time.
Six weeks of heat and drought. I wish the damned sun would stay eclipsed.

We have Agile Octopus where the price varies every 30 minutes. 4pm till 7pm is very high but we have frequent periods of very low tariff and sometimes they pay us to use it. I make a point of using the hot wash on the washing machine, use the tumble dryer. The dishwasher goes on, and we clean the pyrolytic oven. We also use fan heaters then instead of the gas central heating. If our son is visiting, he charges his car. You can see the difference on the daily reports from Octopus.

I think you have to be on a Smart Meter to have gotten the offer. I'm with Octopus but I dont have a Smart Meter. I was told a long time ago by Bulb that due to the position of my gas meter it wasn't possible.

It is to do with a supposed significant drop in production from solar farms during the eclipse. I think it is someone's idea of a joke.
