Good morning from an already warmer Bristol. I’m bracing myself for the next lot of high temperatures.
My eye test was ok yesterday, but it took several hours (in the blazing sun) for the effects to die down.
The rest of the day was spent pottering . I have finished assembling the patchwork and today shall sew the borders.
Today, I was due to have lunch with a friend, but she called off as she had forgotten that it was her son’s birthday and was going to Slimbridge for the day!
I hope that the mountaineers are better today, and all, as fgt mentioned, are full of contentment.

Good morning from Malta where the heatwave continues with a high of 40°C.

Had an annoying morning yesterday. Walked up to the village to visit my internet provider and ask why I am still waiting for them to let me know if they have the WiFi extenders in stock.

Was told they no longer have the type I wanted but have new ones, however I would have to bring them my old one before they could give me two new ones.

Back home I went to retrieve said box. Bearing in mind the temperature was heading to 41°C yesterday, I could not cope with walking back so had to get the car out only to be told when I arrived with my WiFi box that the girl had made a mistake and I was given my old box back plus an extender exactly like it which was what I had gone for in the first place! Basically, I did not need to make two trips as they could have given it to me the first time. Oh well, first world problems I know!

Had the boys in the afternoon, both very good boys. DGS2 had a nap while he was there and I could easily have joined him but had to keep awake for his brother. I am so tired these days it’s ridiculous.

After they had left, a very nice couple came to look at my exercise bike which DD3 had put on Marketplace for me.They bought it so I am glad to have it out of the way. I prefer the cross-trainer.

Today I’m meeting my friend for coffee at 9am, then have a hair appointment at 11.30 after which I will go to Lidl. I tried yesterday but it was jam-packed so I couldn’t be bothered to fight my way around!

The boys are coming for a sleep over tonight so I shall need plenty of food in as they are both good eaters.

Hope I last the day as I’m already tired having had another unsettled night.🥱

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning from Sheffield

I have a day of nothing at last. I have been so busy recently. I have nowhere to go and no commitments. So today I will wash, iron, tidy up and cook. Ha ha, a woman’s life eh!

I have planned however for a relaxing afternoon. I have started crocheting a fair isle sweater for Dh. It’s fairly difficult, but that’s what I wanted. I’ve only done 12 rows so far but I like the way it looks.

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dull. Bellasnana my boys eat like food is going out of fashion! Enjoy the sleepover.
Yesterday we went to the park which was fairly quiet. The boys enjoyed the play park immensely, then a pit stop for ice cream and juice while I had iced coffee and a hot dog. The smell of the frying onions persuaded me! Then more running about before we headed to my house. In the afternoon, 2 lego kits were delivered so that kept them busy.
Today I'll help dgs1 finish building his kit. We will head to the toy shop for an airplane for dgs1 and a character from Toy Story for dgs2. Then they can play with the slime which was delivered last night. That should keep them happy. That, and eating! Tomorrow they go to school, so the new toys are a last hurrah. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset, plenty of sun today and so the heat build-up starts. I have just been outside to put my sun-deflecting mesh up over some downstairs windows and they will stay up until thursday

I did cycle to my allotment yesterday, not a soul there because of roadworks but my bike can slip through. My squashes are all as big as they are going to get, a month early and all maturing and ripening nicely. I cut many more leaves off as they transpire water and the leaves are not necessary now. Weeks ago, I stopped the plants at 5 crown prince and 6 uchiki kuri, which will store in good condition until at least next june

My dress adjustments were made yesterday, I took the unsuitable bodice front off and put another on with lower darts made the side seams slightly narrower, a lot of fiddling with the ruffle and pointed inserts but tis done and I attached the skirt

Today I will only make and attach the two long button bands at the front, which leaves the collar and sleeves. Sewing this dress is so precise that I only do a part per day, I need to concentrate

It is lovely to have this precise hobby, it is a go-to when I need a change from the mundane

I did order three more raised beds, this time for an awkward patch at the side of my house, they will be much more successful than the bare rough soil which is there now. I plan to grow more at home, starting with Cambridge favourite strawberries, I am loving my frozen strawberries with my kefir, some pecans and a tsp of maple syrup. These beds will be 30cm tall and I will have an extra 2.5 sq m

Today, I will be fairly quiet as in not exercising, I will just get on with household tasks, a bit of sewing. I may well get my knitting out and watch a film. I need to catch up with personal relaxation after all the cycling that I have done lately

How irritating bellas, and in those dreadful temperatures! Are they higher than normal?
Golly, melanie, crocheting Fair is something else. I’m impressed!

RosesandLilac Tue 11-Aug-26 06:07:55

Good morning, it’s been a looooong night 🙄
Cloudy skies again here in south Glos, a baking hot day is forecast.
Little happening here, my new cleaner is coming tomorrow so I will nag DH into tidying up his muddles, not expecting that to go down well!
Brain fog beginning to lift a bit, I’ve been semi-detached for nearly a week! Hoping it wasn’t permanent 😄
Best wishes to all 🌹

r&l, a GP once told me that it takes at least a fortnight for a general anaesthetic to be completely eliminated. Early day yet for you, give yourself time!

Ashcombe Tue 11-Aug-26 06:32:30

Good morning from another warm day in Torbay.

Thank you very much for all the good wishes for our opening night last night. It went very well and the audience was most appreciative, ready to laugh from the outset. As I open the show, it was very satisfying to hear a positive response. 12 more performances to go!

It must be good to be feeling ‘normal’ again, RosesandLilac.

Have a good day, everyone! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning from the Essex coast where I woke at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep.
DH had a bit of an accident yesterday. He fell down an open hatch on his boat onto part of the engine. He walked in at lunchtime with his legs cut and scratched, luckily I'm not too bothered by the sight of blood.
I cleaned him up and found large plasters for the worst cuts.
He tells me that I'm clumsy !!!
I need to iron this morning and finish club admin.
Take care everyone in the building heat, best wishes to all xx

Gagagran Tue 11-Aug-26 07:01:43

Good Morning everyone from the now usual sunny and warm start to the day here on the central south coast. It's set to heat up again so I am not planning to do much.

Good to hear from you Roses and hope your cleaner navigates her way through your DH's important "stuff". Luckily, we are both tidy people and our cleaners have an easy task on their fortnightly visit here. Hope you soon start to feel much better.

Take care everyone and kindest regards to all with worries, struggles or ill health. Hope the day brings some relief and ease.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. DD1 and SIL are off back North this morning, I reckon we should go with them! I think they are looking forward to being cooler and also they will see one of their sons on the way.
We have U3A this afternoon and DH has a dental visit. I expect he will spend any afternoon that is left sleeping
Best wishes

Redcar Tue 11-Aug-26 07:02:04

Good morning everyone from a cool mid Essex. I have all windows and doors open and blinds/curtains shut where the sun is coming in. A good sleep last night but the traffic noise started at 5.00. I think a lot of people drive into London from here.
DD2 is working today. A dog walker is booked for an early walk today.
I’ll go home tomorrow for a while as my new blackout blinds are being fitted in the porch and back door.

grandmabatty I hope your DGS enjoy their last day before school tomorrow.

rosesandlilac I hope you can persuade your DH to clear some of his clutter to enable the cleaner to work her magic. I hope the brain fog continues to improve.

Thinking of all those in difficulties and hope that life improves for you soon.

Have as good a day as is possible for you.

Greyduster Tue 11-Aug-26 07:02:06

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is cool and lightly overcast. That will do for me.

Yesterday I set out early for the gym but was forced to turnaround just outside our village because of a traffic accident. Going round the long way would have put me in rush hour traffic so I didn’t go. I had plenty to do at home.

In the afternoon when the sun had gone round I washed and polished my filthy car and then fetched DH’s golf bag out of the garage which I am going to clean up tomorrow for my neighbour’s son to use. He’s just started playing and has clubs but no bag. It’s a good one and he was delighted.

Today I am looking forward to meeting a friend for a walk and coffee at the smaller of our two country parks. Hope there will be parking. It gets busy in the school holidays.

Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Aug-26 07:08:21

Good morning Mick and all 🙋‍♀️

Oh dear Sar53 I hope your DH is not too sore, Bellasnanahow annoying for you!

Rosesandlilac it will take time to feel like you 🌹🪻

I hope you are feeling ok today Marydoll and that your DH is not too muddled.

Gingster I feel your frustration with DH through your posts 🌸

I am driving into Lakeside this morning, I need a couple of bits for my holiday, and I shop better in my own. First I will strip the bed and put the washing machine on.

This afternoon, I will read in the garden 🌞📖

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 11-Aug-26 07:10:04

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s already sunny. 29°C is our forecast today.

Uniform shop this morning for the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss with their mum then we will have a coffee (if we have any money left 😂).

No plans for this afternoon which is nice then an early meal of salmon, new potatoes which I like to have with mushrooms and spring onions fried in butter - before meeting a friend in my favourite wine bar to share a bottle of chilled rosé at 6pm. She’s 40 and her company is delightful. Such a sensible girl. I call her my Daughter No.3 and our Yorkshire Lass says it’s good to have a ‘sister’ who is so eminently full of smarts. 😁
