This situation is just getting worse. What is the answer ?
Start from source.
Where and who produced this giant dinghy ?
Who transported it to the coast ? Who supplies all the life vests ? ....and surely somebody notices hundreds of people walking the streets ?
Then they take to the water and halfway the RNLI come and rescue them .......it is madness.
And before anyone feels sympathy for them , most of these migrants are men between 20 and 30 yrs old not a family escaping a war torn country.
Yet, while this was going on ,our so called Prime Minister was talking to people about the cost of living !
This subject along with the disgraceful decision of early release from prison is the only thing he should be talking about.

I do wonder Bukkie why there is a tendancy with some to skirt over, or around the issue of the girls and women who have been abused at the hands of asylum seekers. One murdered!
How would any of us feel if any were our daughter or granddaughter. Or should we just accept there will be some collateral damage in trying to absorb so many single men from different cultures. Just to pre empt the usual 'ah but what about our own British nationals who commit these crimes too' Accepted! They're just as bad, but we can't deport them can we?, they're here and every nation will have their own homegrown miscreants. What I continually wonder are these men inculcated on how they will be expected to behave, cultural differences, what is and isn't acceopable. Or are they in fact pretty much abandoned wherever they're accommodated and left to get on with it hmm

I think they’re very much left to get on with it. While they’re in these barracks they have football skills, clown skills, arts and crafts. In reality they need to be told, forcefully, one step out of line and back you go. They don’t respect us and why should they? It’s all too easy for them.

You forgot yoga and dancing. 🤣🤣

I don’t think it’s for us to judge what our PM prioritises, it’s his job to make these decisions, not ours.

Ye gods.

No the UK does not have blood on its hands and that is quite a shocking thing to say. Our RNLI , RN put their own lives at risk to rescue people in our waters.

Those who have blood on their hands are people smugglers and those manufacturing and selling boats, lifejackets etc to desperate people.

Yes I thought it was shocking too. Who exactly in the UK is responsible?

Bukkie Wed 12-Aug-26 19:59:29

Again Terribull there's no point me adding to your post because I agree with you. We do however have some very far left friends who think we should accept everyone and say snidey comments about home grown criminals and dismiss crimes like the Brighton gang rape as a one off when challenged. I always think they believe are morally superior and would quickly change their minds if they were the victims of such a crime or suddenly got a HMO next door to them.

MissAdventure Wed 12-Aug-26 21:37:44

We, meaning the uk, are part of the process.
Our sloppy amd poorly enforced conditions mean that the risk is worth taking, for people to endanger themselves in order to gain access.
Because there is a chance that they can disappear into the ether, and have a better quality of life than that they have left behind.

I see nothing shocking about my opinion, and obviously, I'd have thought, I'm not blaming the RNLI.
That would be ridiculous.

JenniRen Wed 12-Aug-26 21:39:36

Sorry if I misunderstood but that's how I read it.

Casdon Wed 12-Aug-26 21:41:31

I doubt anybody would disagree with you about that MissAdventure, it’s definitely an issue.

MissAdventure Wed 12-Aug-26 21:41:32

It's probably the way I wrote it. smile

JenniRen Wed 12-Aug-26 21:57:12

And the way I read it smile
Getting hot and bothered today.

MissAdventure Wed 12-Aug-26 21:59:57

Awful, isn't it?
I hate the heat, and these temperatures just about take the biscuit, for me.

Good post - completely agree.

That may be, but it’s a pity that some of these men don’t treat the younger females in this country as fellow human beings, instead of something to be manhandled & abused.

Article in the DM today by Alexander Downer, australian politician responsible for stopping illegal immigration into Australia completely.

‘Other options include Ascension island, a British territory in the Atlantic - 34 square miles of volcanic rock midway between Africa and South America.

There is no overwhelming reason why it should not be used as a relocation centre for thousands of people while their claims for asylum are dealt with.

If migrants are genuinely in fear for their lives as they flee their homelands because of war, religious persecution or other compelling reasons, offshore relocation is a safe option for them. They should welcome it.

The truth, as we all know, is that almost all of them would be appalled at the idea.

The mass influx of migrants to the UK would stop immediately. This is how to smash the gangs.

It might seem harsh and it is certainly not a policy for the squeamish. But the alternative is unrestricted immigration, allowing everyone who wants to come to the UK to do so without question.

If that is what Andy Burnham wants, he must say so.’

Of course they're human beings and no one wants anyone to lose their life in a dangerous crossing, particularly not that little baby being dangled by his arm who was pictured yesterday.

Bear in mind that the women who have been raped, accosted, degraded and in one case murdered by asylum seekers are also human beings. These not unknown happenings need to be acknowledged and planning as to where these young men are placed needs to be given more consideration as to how communities are going to cope. I can't imagine what it must be like to live in a village of 400 people and then have over 1,000 young men with little to do just dumped there. It's not just about colour of skin, ethnicity or religion. Small communities can and have also be besieged by traveller communities who roll up and park themselves in community playgrounds, cutting through locks, paving over fields without planning permission and then leaving large amounts of debris that can include both dog and human faeces. Apologies for conflating two issues but most people just want to live peaceably alongside their neighbours, know their children are safe, without the worry of knowing that they're being put in a potentially dangerous situation.

Well said terriBull. I totally agree with that.

I agree with that Bukkie- I don’t know why Tuliptree feels the need to laugh hysterically at your post. So rude!
I don’t think my 84 year old friend who terminal ill is laughing hysterically at the HMO next door but two to her.
Those guys have an oil drum burning in the yard, which they all stand round jabbering into the wee small hours of the night.
She said she will be glad when she’s finally out of it. 😞 The Council don’t want to know!

Sago , I am puzzled by your last sentence about bringing in an army. I haven't heard anything about this, but then perhaps my news is from real sources. Please can you tell us the what, where and why ?
Cossy , a very good post, right to the point. Thank you.

What sago means WEG Most of these men that are coming through are young men of a fighting age!
No one knows if eventually they could turn on us.
Hopefully landing, are the genuine drs, nurses, dentists, Engineers & other skill sets that our country so badly needs.

It’s not “the best reaction” at all. It is very juvenile and confirms exactly what Bukkie says in her last sentence.

Tuliptree Thu 13-Aug-26 08:44:35

Oh it’s the best reaction - if only it were really funny.
