I think the uk has blood on it's hands every time a life is lost in the crossings.

I don't understand how the UK has blood on it's hands. Is it because we offer safety, shelter, food and drink and money? Maybe we should stop doing this.

I didn’t notice the floating bottle but I did think the baby looked very rigid.

When I saw the photo, I thought the baby looked very odd. Then I saw the photo without the baby. The baby could have been photoshopped in or photoshopped out - it’s scarey really isn’t it because there are people who want us to believe one version and others who want us to believe the other. I couldn’t find any evidence online that the photo with the baby was genuine or fake But as we know absence of evidence isn’t evidence of absence . So who knows ?

Well I didn't like to say here, but Paris-Match in France was reporting it was fake a few days ago. Something to do with the hands I think.

I do read newspapers in the original language. It was reported by French media that they would not want to show their police and beach security agents in such an awful situation as to allow that to happen.

It is NOT getting worse, these crossings are very much down on previous years. But, of course, facts are not much use with a lot of people.

Anyone attending any hospital or medical centre must be grateful for so many of this so-called army of foreigners, without them we would be in much problems.

Young men, are usually the main and first asylum seekers, often being funded by a an area or village. Hoping that if they make it to get to an appropriate safe country, they can eventually help to fund better conditions for their people back home.

Britain has always been made up by immigrants for at least two thousand years. Refugees here are still less (proportion of population), than in most other European countries.

I am just so very, very grateful that neither I nor any member of my family have to take this sort of journey and dire risk in order to be able to live.

Of course, my ancestors did, escaping from the czar in the latter part of the 19th century, and also from Nazis in mid 20th century. They also experienced this sort of hostility, but most managed to get on with their very productive lives here.

Thanks Casdon. I see the photo without the baby is credited to LNP which is a reputable photo agency. So that’s compelling evidence imo that it’s genuine.

I’m not quite sure how a single French person would know this, I don’t know either way, but the story I read (which may or may not be accurate), stated this boat started off in part of the French coast and went to three or four other collection points before setting off on the perilous journey.

I do wonder Bukkie why there is a tendancy with some to skirt over, or around the issue of the girls and women who have been abused at the hands of asylum seekers. One murdered!
How would any of us feel if any were our daughter or granddaughter. Or should we just accept there will be some collateral damage in trying to absorb so many single men from different cultures. Just to pre empt the usual 'ah but what about our own British nationals who commit these crimes too' Accepted! They're just as bad, but we can't deport them can we?, they're here and every nation will have their own homegrown miscreants. What I continually wonder are these men inculcated on how they will be expected to behave, cultural differences, what is and isn't acceopable. Or are they in fact pretty much abandoned wherever they're accommodated and left to get on with it

Those people who’ve come across to our country and raped, attacked or murdered anyone here should be charged, if they are found guilty they should serve part of their prison sentence here, I’m assuming DNA would be recorded, then after that the perpetrator should be deported.

However, my question is, what if these criminals haven’t had their birth or originating country identified.

Perhaps all applications for both asylum and other immigrants should include blood or DNA tests compared to our criminal databases to ensure they’ve not been here before committing offences??

The picture of the baby is a red herring, whether genuine or not, because it’s been confirmed that there were more than twenty babies and young children onboard, one picture doesn’t alter that fact.
