We had breakfast out today and I’ve had nothing since nor do I feel hungry. It is so Hot! Breakfast was porridge with fruit and two mini pancakes with maple syrup.

I am going to make an omelette for my husband with cheese and mushrooms because he says he’s not hungry either.

Just put together a salad but i doubt I'll eat it all, lunch was small yoghurt not hungry all day, its 36* outside but thankfully 28* in the house.

I am eating quite normally. if anything I am hungry. I had an apple and cheese for breakfast. Pasta alla Norma (noodles with aubergine, tomatoes and basil) followed by raspberries. And I, like you, plan an omelette and side salad for supper, followed by some fresh fruit.

Mid afternoon I was so hungry I made myself a half round of tomato sandwiches.

After doing the shopping this morning, I have stayed in the house this afternoon, which stays blissfully cool despite the outside being so hot.

I'm eating less too. And feel more inclined to lighter food - salad, vegetables, fish.

I've lost some weight - just a few pounds - but I wasn't trying.

However I'm not really a cake/sweets person - but it's natural in hot weather for some to want that sugar hit for energy.

The temptation for me is to eat more when it's really cool, very late, which isn't good for digestion, is it?

Wheat biscuits, blueberries and strawberries for brunch, chicken mince, mushrooms and Brocolli sauce with fresh pasta in a while. Eating normally.

I agree.
Scallops on a bed of courgetti.
Still consuming alcohol though, with plenty of water of course!

Just add ice cubes to your wine of choice

This is the first UK summer ever we've been putting red wine in the fridge! 🍷

I had a salad last night (I’m still hunting down a cherry tomato that shot off my plate and disappeared!!), but this evening, after a truly baking hot day, I fancied chilli and rice, and really enjoyed it. Pudding was a Bounty Bar!

Greek yogurt, Chia seeds and some sliced nectarine late breakfast

Peppers and tomato omelette lunch about 2.30

Salad and 2 small M&S chicken tikka kebabs dinner, who wants to cook much in this weather.

Coffees and plenty of fluids that's about it, I might have another nectarine later, I love them and they're really only available in the summer.

Not hungry here either - had a banana mid morning, then a small tin of tuna, mashed with 2 hard boiled eggs and a dash of mayo about an hour ago. I do have a small glass of SB on the go.

Georgesgran Thu 13-Aug-26 20:06:02

I done normally eat any fruit, but the odd banana has been ‘prescribed’ to try to increase my potassium levels.

Had a light supper but snacking on frozen grapes whilst watching TV.
They are a revelation!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Aug-26 20:28:38

I’m must be odd then , we have just finished pork loin chops, new potatoes, marrow and cabbage with a calvados gravy, eaten outside yummy 👍🏻

Ate out today.

A really lovely fresh crab salad. It sort of epitomises summer for me.

GG13 I've only just really been able to eat until 9.30pm except for bits and bobs, but your meal with small portions why that sounds nice eaten outdoors as the day cools.

I made myself an asparagus and smoked salmon quiche yesterday, courtesy of a recipe posted by Greyduster in 2023, Delicious as always, but not the day for cooking!
I had to use up the ingredients before they they were past their best, and it was good to eat at at 7pm.

We normally eat around 7.30pm, when kt is still warm/hot in the evening we leave it till 8-8.30pm.

We do eat outside a lot in the summer, our garden is quiet and one end of the patio is shaded at that time of the evening - blissful

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:36:38

Just a chicken salad today, with (perhaps) crushed salad potatoes.

Oreo Fri 14-Aug-26 11:13:18

It really is hard to eat when it’s hot, I have to go to work soon so will just make a salad sarnie with crisps to replace salt.
I found yesterday that the muscles in the back of my lower legs hurt which may be lack of salt at a guess.
Drinks and ice lollies have been keeping me going.

Back to normal today, a big fuss about nothing

knspol Fri 14-Aug-26 14:05:46

30 degrees upstairs and 28 downstairs and seems even hotter outside. Same yesterday, windows nearly all south facing so living in semi darkness. Outside unbearable. Hardly eaten anything just drinking water, no appetite at all. Can't wait for this to end.

We’re the same. Is like living in a cave. Reminds me of lockdown but at least then we didn’t have to close our curtains and could go out in our gardens. We can’t out, in London is like a furnace. Had to go to chemists early morning because DH has red eyes and wanted to consult the chemist there who is very good. He gave us moisturising drops and reassured my DH it isn’t conjunctivitis.
Got an uber there and back, but was already 29 degrees at 9 am.
At night we can’t sleep, in the day we live like moles. A neighbour is so desperate after no sleep for days that he and his wife have booked into a hotel for tonight that has a/c and a swimming pool.
People are truly desperate.

Fallingstar Fri 14-Aug-26 15:04:07

Oh and no we don’t eat much. Just grab whatever doesn’t need cooking but drink a lot.

JaneJudge Fri 14-Aug-26 15:06:41

I got up early to open the windows to let air in to cool down but at 8am it 31 degrees again in the hall

Unfortunately the heat hasn't affected my appetite nor of those I live with who keep asking me what is for dinner
