Popped in to see if we had a new ‘kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week 🙋‍♀️

GrannyGravy13 Sun 11-Oct-26 20:29:22

Just in from celebrating our dear friends’0’ birthday.

I drive home in DH’s new car for the third time, not sure I like it, but will persevere getting used to it.

Night night 🙋‍♀️

I’m afraid our bedroom fan is being used as a clothes horse Redcar, FGT’s fault #lazygran.
I must also confess Christmas cards and crackers have been ordered, once a project manager…..

Redcar Sun 11-Oct-26 20:13:31

Hi everyone, a bright but chilly morning, a cloudy afternoon. We may have a shower overnight - please!
DD2 called in this morning on her way to her mil’s for a family gathering of her OH’s family. DSiL also came over with the two DGDs and dog, DD1 was working! The 8 year old is still very cuddly and gives lovely hugs when she comes in and before going home. The 11 year old measures herself against me every week - I think she will overtake me by Christmas!

I put the fans away in small bedroom as I don’t think I’ll need them again this year. I’ve got the autumn weight duvet on the bed, but have had to add a fleece blanket as I’ve been cold. I’ll put the heavy winter duvet on next week and dig out the electric blanket ready for the cold nights.

jaxjacky I love a CB fish pie!

Thinking of those in the quiet corner.

Enjoy the rest of the evening folks.

Hi all, an overcast day, the stray violas were added to the new herb box, my old herb tub suffered from the heat and ant infestation, all died.
The garden is shutting down, but greenhouse tomatoes, all MrJ’s nurturing this year, have been so prolific, he’s very diligent watering, im rather more erratic!
I’ve just had a CB fish pie, how much! tasty and easy though.
I hope FGT has decent weather.
What a joyous time with you Dgs2 gbatty I miss that snuggly warm stage, our grandson is 6’ plus at age 13, no lap time there!
Busy week ahead brook but lovely.
Enjoy your evenings x

brook2704 Sun 11-Oct-26 18:29:10

Hi kitchen pals, DD2 has just called round, it was lovely to see her. The dgc are with their dad, but they will be staying over with us midweek. The puppy is arriving tomorrow for a few days!
So pleased you’ve had such a lovely time with your dgs grandmabatty, but I know how tiring it is!
Hoping fgt is now settled somewhere in Northumberland
Hope you’re doing ok Jax
Take care everyone and sleep well later x

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Oct-26 17:54:36

Good evening kitchen folk. NannyTopsy you have been busy! An Open Garden plan sounds exciting. Jaxjacky I'm hoping your mouth is better now.
Today has been good. Dgs2 was very well behaved and full of laughs. He was picked up at 11.30 by a very tired dd. I tidied up the chaos then went for a nap which lasted 2 hours! I was obviously more tired than I realised. Once back in the land of living, I did a washing and got it dried then did some Spanish. Dinner will be chicken with a lovely salad and a baked sweet potato. It all looks very colourful. Dessert will be Greek yoghurt with honey. An early bed because of an early childcare day tomorrow. I hope you are all well

We have had an Italian evening tonight in the village hall. DH made the vegetarian lasagne. I ate too much after a good week of low carb eating. I am replanting a section of the garden after the dry summer, ready for open gardens next year. Delighted to be able to scramble up tiered flower beds after new knee and hip!
Glad you are on the mend Jax. Enjoy Northumberland FGT. We loved living there for 18 months when we were young.

I was nearly there with my post! I saved it but it disappeared anyway.

So, sleep 💤 tight.

Do you recommend Dan Brown’s latest book.
I like some but not all of his.

It was hard going in places, a lot of difficult terminology, good plot twist

‘Evening all’

Thank you Redcar brook and others re Northumberland tomorrow. I’m very much looking forward to being there. I did my packing this afternoon- of what to take for a few days away in this country! Everything but the kitchen sink would be good to cover all eventualities with our weather, however although I’m being picked up in the morning by my cousin I’m actually coming home by train on Thursday as he and his partner tend to stay for about 3 weeks at a time, quite understandably as the drive from Manchester is just shy of 3 hours. This means of course that a small suitcase is best … I had to make everything in the case earn its keep! Layers. Layers … 😂

I’ve had a delightful evening with my lovely neighbour. We shared a bottle of Merlot, I provided a hot supper and we watched Strictly together. It does make it more fun. I’m only just getting a handle on who some of the contestants are! I’m in awe of their dedication and willingness to learn … and stand in front of the judges!

Redcar Sat 10-Oct-26 21:49:50

Sorry, meant fgt.

Redcar Sat 10-Oct-26 21:49:25

Still feeling tired from the covid jab.
I planted some bulbs in the garden, but it’s still very dry and hard to dig deep enough for the daffodil bulbs.

Did a load of washing and dried it outside, I’ll iron it tomorrow.

I watched Strictly, but still not sure who half of the contestants are - a sign of age I think.

Have a lovely break in Northumberland fgr, it’s beautiful especially at this time of year.

jaxjacky good that you are able to eat proper food again.

Night night everyone, sleep well.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 10-Oct-26 21:17:58

I have had a lazy day, finished my book (Dan Brown, Secret of Secrets)

Watched Strictly, probably going to have an early night 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Sat 10-Oct-26 20:42:26

Brook, dgs2 wanted to go to bed at 7.30! He's sound asleep. I'm watching Strictly

brook2704 Sat 10-Oct-26 20:08:44

Oooh not out clubbing Jax but I did have a great afternoon line dancing! About 40 or so very friendly ladies, the laughter and chatter was quite loud at times. Enjoyed lots of dances and only went wrong a handful of times 😂
So good that you’re eating proper food again Jax bet it tastes good!
Hope grandmabatty and her little dgs are happily snuggled on the sofa together
Safe travels and have a lovely time in Northumberland fgt it’s gorgeous around there

Jaxjacky Sat 10-Oct-26 19:26:04

Hi all, dry quiet, all out clubbing? 🙂
Ah, possibly Charleygirl, good you feel well, your meal sounds lovely FGT.
A chilly day, the wind not helping, some light housework and hob cleaned.
‘Proper’ food at last, fish cauli and mash, tasted lovely, full up tum, first for ten days! I’m aiming towards a curry next week.
Have a great evening all.

Charleygirl5 Fri 09-Oct-26 22:42:09

Jax slowly your getting there.

I wasn't aware that Bellasnanna was ill. Thanks for the update.

corner a good job I am not in competition with Mr.C re sleeping. I think he would win by a whisker.

I feel 100% so it may be contamination. The urine bottles are actually tubes for blood so a ridiculous size. Thanks brook

No heating on today, only twice.

Why I set my alarm for early am is beyond me. I haven't worked for at least 15 years.
Please look after yourselves.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 09-Oct-26 22:13:15

Wonderful to hear you sounding so much more upbeat Jax. ✔️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 09-Oct-26 22:07:01

I’m just home. The new Spanish restaurant was very nice. I had a lamb, bean & spinach stew. We shared a bottle of wine. £80 between us so not cheap. We’d go again, the place and the staff are lovely, friendly and attentive but it’s just ‘one for rotstion’ not our favourite. That said it’s where book clubbers have booked for our Christmas night out.

I’m just about to watch Traitors on catch up. Bit late but I’m keen to know who got murdered. 😁

I’ve just put the washer on for a quick freshen up wash. I want to take the trousers I wore tonight to Northumberland on Sunday morning! Always the way isn’t it?

brook2704 Fri 09-Oct-26 21:47:10

Thank you for letting us know about Bellas, BlueSapphire it’s good to hear all is well
So pleased you’re feeling a bit better Jax you very much deserve your wine and vape
I got my flu jag this afternoon, I was just passing the vaccination centre in town, I didn’t have an appointment but they were doing walk ins so it worked out fine. Just a bit of an achey arm this evening
Just finished watching the traitors, it’s a long time to wait until next week!
Hoping everyone sleeps well, take care all x

Redcar Fri 09-Oct-26 19:24:37

I’m pleased you’re feeling better jaxjacky and even more pleased that you are able to vary your diet again! Enjoy your glass of wine this evening!

Good to have news of bellasnana, I hope she’ll soon feel able to join us again.

I had my Covid jab yesterday, no reaction at the time but I woke up this morning with a stiff and aching arm and feeling a bit groggy. I felt very tired this afternoon but am better now. Several friends have reported feeling very tired after the Covid jab.
I had an urgent dental appointment this morning, to put a temporary dressing on a broken tooth. Apparently a crown is needed so my next check up has been brought forward for my own dentist to do the preparation. Oh Joy!!

cornergran I hope you get your day out “wandering” tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

cornergran Fri 09-Oct-26 17:24:53

You do sound so much better jax. Good news.

We were flu jabbed on Wednesday, no reaction at all. Covid jab next week as I much prefer them separately.

Good to know bellasnana is fine We’ll be here when the time is right for you to be back bellasnana. Look after yourself.

Get better soon charley. UTIs are more than unpleasant.

It’s been an ironing afternoon here. The autumn clothes swap around is in full flow, we’ve not got the wardrobe space for clothes for all seasons so ironing post storage it is.

Mr C headed off for a nap over an hour ago. I’ll not wake him as nothing stops him sleeping at night. We hope to be out wandering tomorrow after Mr C’s morning hearing aid appointment, no nap time then smile

Hope you all have a decent weekend. Take care.

Jaxjacky Fri 09-Oct-26 15:01:38

Thanks BlueSapphire she will be missed, I look forward to her return.

BlueSapphire Fri 09-Oct-26 15:00:10

Just letting people know that Bellasnana is fine; she is just taking a break.
