There was a distinct grumpiness in the air when we realised no more Casualty until next year but then as Mr C said, it will come soon enough.

Nothing exciting happening here. A lot of routine along with a dollop of worry about one son and two grandchildren. Also a dose of feeling sorry for myself for no good reason. A good shake is what is needed I think.

Strange the things that are cheering, our paddock, aka the lawn, is green again and I smile each time I see it. No more orange crispy bits. Most plants have survived, our development gardeners have agreed to tame the out of control magnolia and trim the forsythia to save me climbing to do the latter. A lot to be cheerful about.

Time to sort some veg. Mr C goes into decline if Sunday doesn't mean a roast, beef today followed by baked stuffed apples topped with a large dollop of cream.

We’ve been reminiscing about Hill Street Blues and the things we used to enjoy on tv. So just be careful out there everyone.

Good evening Kitchen pals. It was cold and rainy this morning, we stayed home and had bacon rolls for lunch. It brightened up this afternoon so we got our walk around the dock after all.

I am sorry to read of illnesses and conditions making life difficult. I hope everyone improves soon.

FGT we saw Queen in 1977, I think, at Earls Court. The babysitter fell through at the last minute so we had to take 2yo DS. Didn’t have a ticket for him so we wrapped him in a blanket and smuggled him in. The concert opened with an almighty wave of sound, DS fell asleep immediately and didn’t wake up the entire time.

I’ve had a few difficult days but yesterday my dd1 took me out for lunch and we browsed the shops. Today I’ve defrosted my allegedly frost-free freezer. I got rid of all the packs of UFO’s (unidentified freezer objects) and now everything fits in and the drawers are easy to open. There’s a certain satisfaction to be gained when you manage to dislodge that ‘keystone’ bit of ice and the whole lot comes tumbling down, even if you are then ankle deep in slush. My cats looked on in astonishment - ‘What are you doing, Mother?’ 😂

I have had a productive day, washing basket is empty including hand washing (which I detest doing)

Roast pork in the oven, then a sit down to watch Vigil later on.

Hope FGT2 has a stress free journey to her Ibizan hotel 🙋‍♀️

Hi all, pleasant enough weather today, washing dried easily. I wish our grass was green corner the odd piece of moss and stalky weeds have been strimmed, the rest is beige. We need lots and lots of rain please.
I cleaned today while MrJ was off watching bowls, slowly rebuilding my energy after hip gate, it’s settling noe the cortisone injection has bedded in 🤞.

The grass here remains yellow. The rain had stopped 2 days ago by the time I had removed my washing. Thunder and lightning is always promised but we get sunshine instead. Fine for clothes drying but little else.

The evenings are drawing in and it is becoming a tad colder. I love the meals you have prepared or are doing. I haven't decided, but there is little choice. I must also get rid of the UFO's then I may have space in the drawers.

I'm a little better today. I managed to go to aldi then stripped the bed and did loads of washing. Dinner was baked salmon fillet, boiled spuds and broccoli followed by a yoghurt. No butter! It was very nice, probably because I only had dry toast yesterday. I hope everyone is well. Im having an early night because tomorrow is early childcare day. Enjoy Ibiza fgt. No problems with the grass here Jax except it just won’t stop growing. It needed another cut today but DH did it whilst I just pottered about. It’s getting dark here now too charleygirl so I’ll be closing the downstairs curtains soon, the first time in ages and rummaging around for some scented candles to light in the evenings

Hello fellow Kitcheners. A lovely warm sunny day for most of the day, but cloudy late afternoon.
The gardener came and worked for two hours, I think I’m too opinionated about how I want my garden to look, he just does his own thing! He wanted to rake all the dead grass off the “lawn” but I said there would only be bare earth left so I wanted it left alone, there are a few green shoots coming through. Reluctantly he agreed to leave it. I’ve just watered the front garden and found a pile of daffodil bulbs on top of the earth. I’ll put them in again tomorrow but I don’t think I want him to do any more!! Rant over!
Both DDs and families were at a cricket tournament this morning, the 8 year olds won their match, so a nice end to the season.
grandmabatty I hope you continue to improve and that your dinner doesn’t cause you any pain in the night.

A nice sunny day here although I didn’t take advantage of it.
My friend and I were due to go to the local park and get a coffee, but she wasn’t well so I didn’t get out.
I did do some clearing out of bedding as I now have Night Lark quilts, what a fantastic idea.
I hope FGT is now ensconced in her hotel.
My H and I once did Es Cana on a visit to Ibiza.
We thought it ok but preferred Santa Eulalia, however I understand FGT is a regular and knows it well.
I hope Grandmabatty is ok with her gallbladder, the sooner it is out the better she will be.

We’ve had a decent day weather wise on our last day at our lodge home in the countryside. With the wonderful weather we’ve had this summer we have been here since the end of June. It’s been wonderful and am not looking forward to going home.

I agree with you about Santa Eulalia in Ibiza Uttb we last visited in 2022. The hotels seem to have been taken very upmarket and priced out of reach of families which is a shame as it’s a lovely resort.

It was church this morning, and the sermon had a lot about grief and funerals. It was all a bit too soon for me after my brother’s funeral but I don’t think anyone noticed.
My fairly empty week is starting to fill up. I need to get into the garden.

Hello everybody I’m here in pretty Es Cana

This boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous I have indeed spoiled myself.

I’m tired partly from travelling over from Málaga but emotionally too,
feeling somewhat drained - so I’ve unpacked my cabin bag, put on my summer pj’s and I’m sat on my lovely balcony with this view.

Yes that’s the Mediterranean across the street, it’s all so beautiful.

I shall read my kindle for half an hour then climb into the glorious bed - feeling blessed to be here agin.

TV discussion sorted. We discovered yesterday’s Vigil was already on iPlayer. Watched that one then headed to Trigger Point. Plan to do the same today. Marital harmony restored .

Friends here for coffee this morning. Need to get a wriggle on as both home and occupants are looking a little unkempt. Also need to interrogate the biscuit stash as we have a bit of a competition going over biscuit quality. Think they were ahead at last score count. Must try to do better 😂.

Another lovely day here with sunshine pm. I have no idea where the rain is.[ didnt fancy any TV last night so back to the paper-crunching, and I found items I never knew I possessed. Naturally, one item has totally vanished.

I was mopping floors late last night but was pleased when I came downstairs this morning.

I have a Sainsbury's delivery tomorrow, so I must make space in the freezer.

Another mostly sunny day here today, still warm too. I’m hoping for rain overnight and in the morning.
I went into the local town this morning and took some books to the charity bookshop, unfortunately I can’t carry many at once, so will need to go again. A frustrating wander around the shops - one of my favourites is closing on Friday so I’ll have to order online in future, also discovered that Clarins no longer make the foot cream that I use. Then couldn’t find a nightdress I liked, so gave up and came home.
I’ve spent the afternoon with my dementia friend as her DH had a doctors appointment and he can’t leave my friend on her own.

I got some rehydration sachets earlier at the pharmacy and have spent the afternoon reading my Kindle and sipping water - very grateful to be feeling somewhat better than I did this morning.

I get myself so anxious when I’m not well my worrries take me from 0-60 and more so without Himself beside me always my rock to lean on

The 11yr old had a good first day at senior school, he likes his tutor group teacher. Has only one friend from primary school with him (a girl) and thinks the rest of the students are unfriendly. We said they are probably nervous, it’s now a wait and see

Got my to do list completed, I am both surprised and pleasantly pleased.

You are very brave to step outside your comfort zone, I have never even tried it.

A quiet day here, it turned out dry and warm but I didn’t venture out.
I had a phone appointment with the surgery pharmacist about my recent routine blood teases.
It seems my Cholesterol is slightly high but no real concerns and he advised me to eat more protein and cut down on carbs.
He stayed very quiet when I said I did drink more alcohol than recommended and didn’t tell me to cut down.
He probably thought that at 89 it wasn’t worth it, he was very wise.

I have tried to get into Trigger Point, usually a favourite of mine but so far it hasn’t grabbed me, I will persist.

My anxiety has ratcheted down again and I’m tired. I always get restless legs when I’m tired. I’ve got air con in my room and my bed is calling me now.

Hello kitchen people and glad you’re feeling better FGT.

Our cleaner cleaned and I shopped at Waitrose.

I had a clear out of various fabrics which were stashed in a chest on the landing. I must have bought some of them when the children were small! There is enough to make half a dozen quilts if I wanted.
