Have a lovely time with your two boys grandmabatty!

brook2704 Sat 12-Sept-26 17:48:01

Safe travels home fgt

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 12-Sept-26 18:00:56

Home 😁
Just to bore you further I was sat next to an enchanting girl (40 so still a girl in my eyes). We chatted for a good while (I’m aware not to engage for too long as being solo one needs to rein in the opportunities of conversation) it’s important to be self aware.

Anyway she had been in Ibiza having met friends out there for clubbing and was on en route to Harrogate for a photo shoot as she models wedding dresses for a living the past 12 years! She’s a regular on an agency. Made me laugh when she said I’m perhaps getting g towards my sell by date! Another lovely companion and she showed me how to use my Ryanair app and click on Bluetooth to order some mascara direct from the cabin crew to my 4C seat. First time I’ve ever done that. Every day is a school day!

I am stressed beyond belief.
I have been trying to pay for the work in my garden through bank transfer.
Never had problems like this before.
I couldn’t sort it for some strange reason so sent the money to my S s.o he could pay.
He also had problems so sent the money back.
When I tried again I had exceeded my daily limit, I hadn’t but although my S had returned my money the computer only saw two large sums going out which exceeded my limit.
I increased the limit then I got so many questions about scams.
I tried to ring them but they ā€œ are experiencing difficulties ā€œ.
I feel that the company think I’m dodging paying, stupid I know but oh dear the stress.
I need a stiff drink to calm down ,then I’ll try again.
We used to write a cheque and it was done and dusted.

Grandmabatty Sat 12-Sept-26 19:02:26

It sounds like the problem isnt at your end Utbb, but with the company!

Jaxjacky Sat 12-Sept-26 19:26:18

Hi all, what are ā€˜strong emotions* Grandmabatty? Tantrums maybe.
A quiet day until we went to the pub, ended up chatting for ages.
Ten aster plants put in today and I’ve just switched off the pork to be pulled apart for tomorrow.
Welcome back FGT

Grandmabatty Sat 12-Sept-26 19:35:35

Jaxjacky tantrums! He does feel every emotion deeply. He laughs, cries and rages with equal force. Today he has been very cross and upset a lot. However he's quietly playing before bed. Dgs1 is exhausted. He played 2 games of football earlier. He will go to bed later

Redcar Sat 12-Sept-26 20:27:22

Hello everyone. It’s warm here again - still 21 outside.
grandmabatty I hadn’t heard of ā€˜strong emotions’ before! Quite a nice way to describe the tantrums really. I hope you all sleep well tonight.

jaxjacky well done for putting the plants in. I managed to put a few crocus bulbs in, and have now ordered a long handled bulb planter, hoping it will stop me having to bend so much. I’ll see if it helps at all.

Welcome home fgt, it sounds to have been an interesting and sociable journey for you. I hope you like the mascara!

utbb I hope you can sort out the bank transfer tomorrow, their computer probably thinks you’re being scammed. I always have to jump through hoops if I’m doing a transfer to someone new.

I know that it’s the end of summer now - it’s the Last Night of the Proms! I’ll try not to scare the neighbours by singing along to Land of Hope and Glory!
Strictly starts next week.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 12-Sept-26 20:51:01

I delegated Redcar!
How frustrating utbb I’d just txt your contact and explain the hiccup.

Redcar Sat 12-Sept-26 21:04:27

jaxjacky I would have got one of my DDs to put them in, but they haven’t been over for a couple of weeks.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 12-Sept-26 21:09:10

I have contacted the bank who advised the department I need was closed until 8am tomorrow.
My S has been in touch with the company boss and explained, I was surprised that they asked for payment on Saturday afternoon especially as the job isn’t finished yet.
However…… times change and they don’t wait for payment now, at least it wasn’t a deposit in advance.

Charleygirl5 Sat 12-Sept-26 22:34:16

Still no rain during the day in London. I was enjoying hot sunshine while I watched the washing dry.

TV for me has been abysmal. I was horrified to hear Redcar that Strictly starts next weekend. I have only heard of one "celebrity" and I feel it is on for too long for a few weeks until a few are eliminated. If there was a programme elsewhere I would switch.

Redcar Sun 13-Sept-26 20:09:22

Ooh, it’s really quiet in the kitchen this evening, I hope everyone is ok?
A mixed bag of weather for us, rain for a while this morning, then bright, but torrential showers all afternoon. Still raining now but really warm.
My long handled bulb planter was delivered this morning and I strained my back (again) lifting it into the hall. My son in law assembled it for me, I hope it will make life easier when trying to plant bulbs and small plants.
DD1 and family came and stayed for an hour or so, which was good. Hope to hear from DD2 later when she’s got her girls to bed.
utbb I hope you managed to transfer the money to the contractor today.

fgt I hope you’ve settled down at home again, after your adventures!

Enjoy the rest of the evening folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 13-Sept-26 20:19:06

Hello kitchen people.

We had a good day. We went to Zermatt and saw the Matterhorn. Pretty good but not quite as majestic as the Eiger, which we saw last year.

It is a free day tomorrow so OH and I will get a boat to a little island on Lake Maggiore, Isola Madre.

We were so whacked tonight we just had pizza and sandwiches in the bar and shared a bowl of gelato.

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight everyone.

GrandmaC47 Sun 13-Sept-26 22:11:18

Very quiet tonight.
Finally, ten weeks since my fall when running for a bus, then spraining my ankle four weeks ago, I’ve managed to get back on my exercise bike. I used to do 30 minutes every day followed by some Pilates exercises. I’m horrified by how out of condition I am. Still, onwards and upwards.
Hope all is ok with our usual posters.
Beautiful picture Llfl.

Charleygirl5 Sun 13-Sept-26 22:14:49

We still haven't had a downpour in my part of London. Even the odd drizzle on the whole is during the night. Today was dreary outside but most days I can sunbathe, watch the washing dry and the weeds grow.

Next week is the start of my hospital appointments again. A good job I am retired and have the time!

Grandmadinosaur Sun 13-Sept-26 22:20:01

Hi Kitchener’s.

We’ve had a lovely but tiring day here in Liverpool where we went to a concert last night. It’s much quieter here tonight. Just in from enjoying a cocktail or two. Home tomorrow and I am ready for it. Hotel rooms are ok but never as comfy as home.

Interested to hear of your adventures around lake maggiore LLFL it’s a beautiful part of the world. We visited 2 years ago. Have you been to Isola Bella? It’s gorgeous. Enjoy your time there.

Night all.

brook2704 Sun 13-Sept-26 22:45:22

A gorgeous picture llfl such a deep blue sky
I’ve had a really enjoyable day at the line dancing social event this afternoon, 5 hours dancing, chatting and socialising with a lovely group of ladies. Just a few mistakes on the dance floor when I turned the wrong way but generally not too bad šŸ˜‚. The instructor is having a well deserved holiday next week so we’ve a week off now to recover
Hope you can get sorted with the bank tomorrow uttb and it’s a worry off your mind
Safe journey home tomorrow grandmadinosaur
Take care all x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 13-Sept-26 23:04:08

Goodnight from me. I’ve been a very #lazygran this evening binge watching 7Up ready for the last programme on Tuesday night full of 70 year olds. I’m up to the 35y olds now! I’ll have square eyes as my mum used to day.

brook2704 Mon 14-Sept-26 17:05:30

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a showery afternoon here in Inverness, the washing has been in and out a few times. I was feeling a bit tired after a busy weekend so decided to have a nap on the bed this afternoon, all going well until the window cleaner popped up at the window - I felt a bit embarrassed but I’m sure he’s seen worse! Anyhow I’m up again now and about to start an early dinner, chicken stir fry that won’t take long
Hope everyone is doing ok, take care all x

Usedtobeblonde Mon 14-Sept-26 17:35:02

Hello all.
I have just had a coughing fit which left me vomiting and feeling so weak, I really don’t know where it has come from, a slight sore throat on Thursday and Friday and now this dreadful cough.
I expect it’s ā€œgoing roundā€.

The plumber has been today to replace a shower in the downstairs bathroom, I hope it will be complete tomorrow.

The frustration I had paying the tradesmen on Saturday, which I managed to do yesterday, has me feeling very cross.
There is a small amount of finishing off to do and they were supposed to do it today and haven’t turned up.
I am a trusting soul and just thought they would, I wish I had paid part of the bill now but I didn’t.
It has been a beautiful day, just right for sealing the stone and it will probably rain tomorrow.
I intended to get them to quote for fencing but not now.

It has reached 26 degrees here today it has been gorgeous but I didn’t feel up to going out, I am certainly not feeling well at the moment.

I must get a bite to eat but no appetite, enjoy your evening everyone.

We are back home from our short trip to Jersey. We were so lucky with the weather. Flying from our local airport it is under three hours door to door:

Will try and catch up with your news

Grandmabatty Mon 14-Sept-26 17:54:30

Brook, i think my window cleaner has seen me sound asleep! Utbb I have been caught out before by paying before a job was finished- and it wasn't.
Today I made lentil soup, a steak casserole and organised my car service and my annual eye check up. I also sorted out my fibre upgrade. In between, I worked on the school library and picked up the boys. Dgs2 was less awful than the weekend. The poor wee boy caught his fingers in the car door. It was a sore one. At the moment I'm lying down. The gallbladder pain has returned, so I'm about to have painkillers. Have a good evening kitchen folk

Jaxjacky Mon 14-Sept-26 18:45:24

I hope your week goes reasonably well Charleygirl.
I’m cross for you utbb if youve been let down, I do hope you feel better soon.
GrandmaC47 I’ve lost so much muscle tone in my arms since my hip broke, I’m slowly trying to build it up along with stamina, it’s been a trying year.
But, what a lovely late lunch we had yesterday with the children, girlfriend and grandchildren, lots of chat, laughter and the food went well.
Ouch Grandmabatty I know something of that pain, take care.
Oops brook caught napping, close the curtains next time šŸ˜

brook2704 Mon 14-Sept-26 19:33:04

Hope you’re both feeling better soon uttb and grandmabatty
Pleased you’re home safely GG and enjoyed Jersey
Lovely to spend time with the family Jax, it’s the best
