Good evening kitchen folk. I am miles better today, thank goodness. I worked in the school library for a while and saw dgs2 who was happy to see me. Then nipped to dds with dsils birthday present and picked up dbs present then took them to him. He was out, so I put them through his door. Home again where I have been doing housework. Dinner was cajón chicken pasta. I'm watching The Choral with Ralph Fiennes. Enjoy your evening

Good evening everyone. I’m just sat at my table having ordeee a ½ bottle of chilled ViƱa Sol. I fancy a chicken dish tonight.

Today the white cloud this morning persuaded me to try other than the beach so I put on shirts and a linen top and sauntered for 2 hours around es Cana - along to S’Argamassa beach and back one way, then right over towards Cala Nova.

Made me smile a thinking of Himself who liked to stride out whereas I kind of saunter … he used to say ā€œIt’s like walking with a Geishaā€ 🤣

I loved his humour. Well I loved most everything about him as you know. x

Nannytopsy Thu 10-Sept-26 19:58:47

Glad you had a good day FGT. I have some earrings I bought in Es Cana.
* Grandmabatty* I really enjoyed the Choral.
DH has just made a chicken stir fry - one of his specialties. Yum!

Hi all, pleased you feel better Gbatty and I hope you do too Charleygirl.
Happy travels and a lovely holiday llfl thinking of GG13 in Jersey now, smashing place for a break.
It’s been cold today, wind chill meant 14 and I felt it, the window cleaner came, excellent job on all the windows, soffits etc. I was going to remove all the cobwebs and obvious detritus myself, saved by the bell šŸ™‚
I’ve booked us a night away for our wedding anniversary in November, not far, but I need to be braver and MrJ definitely deserves a treat.
Ludwig soon.

brook2704 Thu 10-Sept-26 20:40:19

So pleased to hear you’re feeling much better grandmabatty, that’s more like it
Thanks for the tips on the coverless duvet charley I’ll bear that in mind
We started watching Trigger Point but it’s so tense that it stresses me out - DH enjoys it though and I watch it from behind a cushion..
Well done in booking your anniversary trip away Jax we’re still dithering 🤣

brook2704 Thu 10-Sept-26 20:41:14

Oh and I’ve still managed to resist putting the heating on! I keep thinking just one more day …

Jaxjacky Thu 10-Sept-26 20:51:38

We’ve just watched episode 2 of TP brook you’ll need a big cushion!

Hi everyone, just back from DD1’s where I’ve been dog minding all day, then looking after the DGDs when they got in from school. DD1 and her DH were in the office for meetings which overran. (As usual). It’s the first time I’ve had to drive home in the dark for about a year, when I looked after the DGDs earlier this year I wasn’t able to drive because of my spinal fractures.
It was fairly cool out but warm enough indoors for once! I was a helpful mum and damp dusted all the window ledges after a summer of open windows. I doubt anyone will notice though.
grandmabatty I’m pleased you’re feeling better now.

fgt enjoy your wine and chicken dinner this evening, after your long walk. It’s nice to saunter along, you see a lot that way and there’s no need to rush when you’re on holiday. Have a good day tomorrow!

charleygirl i hope you’re feeling better and that you are finding the coverless duvet comfortable to sleep under. I haven’t got a 13.5 tog duvet - my winter one is a 10 tog, supplemented with a fleece blanket if it’s very cold out! Not having to wrestle with a duvet cover must make life easier, especially if it’s a 5 ft duvet.

I’m ready for bed now, I didn’t sleep well last night, so am due a decent night tonight!
Night night everyone, sleep tight.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 10-Sept-26 21:34:31

Wonderful to read you are ā€œmiles betterā€ Grandmabatty!
Very reassuring.

Charleygirl5 Thu 10-Sept-26 22:22:51

Redcar a 10 tog would be fine for me during summer. My old duvet was 15 tog and I was still cold even with a hwb. I am a cold morsel.

It was really pleasant here when the sun was out. I sprayed weedkiller but I doubt if that will do much.

Somebody stole my blue paper bin but I retrieved it today. It is in my sitting room and I await a permanent marker from Amazon coming tomorrow. I may put it in the rear garden for a couple of weeks but it will be heavy for me to cart to the front of the house. At least it saved me buying a new one. That would have been the second within a year.

I’m in Santa Eulalia came in the ferry at 11am and I’ve had a wander along the streets with my my memories

I’m sat having a glass of beer and scrolling through photos and came across this one of my lad taken 13 September 2024 the last time we were here together.

He had just finished all the chemotherapy that had kept him well and did so for six months after this photo.

It’s how I like to remember him šŸ’™

And the second pic is me with my mum on said ferry 20 years ago coming back from Santa Eulalia. That was our first year when mum was my age now.

This place will always hold a special place in my heart and I’m so glad I felt able to achieve this trip today.

dragonfly46 Fri 11-Sept-26 12:25:45

That is very poignant FGT.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 11-Sept-26 12:32:13

It is dragonfly
I know to come here today would press the emotional bruise but I’m glad
I came.

A bit of a tribute to honour those I loved if that doesn’t sound too pretentious.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 11-Sept-26 12:43:57

I am at the boarding gate in Ibiza airport. The bus didn’t turn up at es caƱa at 11am aargh! I sat and waited 30 minutes next to a girl with a small suitcase. She looked at her phone a few times then turned to ask me did I know where the taxi rank is?

I suggested we share a taxi? She said what a lovely idea! We chatted non stop in the back of the taxi she was delightful. Aged 27y, Canadian and holidaying in Europe for 2 weeks on her own. So brave I said but we both agreed there are more good souls and kindness in Yuma it’s than not.

I admired her nail art. I asked her could I take a photo as I was so impressed by them? See pic. 😁

Anyway this lovely girl was in her way to Madrid to catch a connecting flight to Marrakesh where she was staying 4 nights after clubbing for 2 in Ibiza. Then on to Heathrow where she was staying with family for a few days before flying back to Toronto.

So Annabelle enjoy your European holiday. I of course paid for the taxi €50 she was utterly charming in her acceptance of the lift and I said enjoy a meal in Marrakesh this evening on me and think of me in rainy Manchester this weekend!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 12-Sept-26 13:52:59

Yuma????
Humans! 🤣

Usedtobeblonde Sat 12-Sept-26 15:08:03

Yes FGT it is wet here in the Manchester area but actually quite warm, the sort of weather were it is warmer outside than in.
My garden makeover is going well but the lawn is a sorry sight, I suppose it will recover by next spring.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 12-Sept-26 15:10:07

Good evening kitchen folk. I'm hosting the boys for a sleepover. Dgs2 has had bouts of 'big emotions', usually when he wants something his brother has. They are currently eating dinner; dgs1 has chicken noodles and Dgs2 has soup then chicken and chips. Later they will have chocolate sundaes then go for a bath. Then popcorn for supper while watching a film. Grandma will go to bed when they do. šŸ˜‚ Enjoy your evening kitchen folk
