Cheese or chocolate?

I have just finished making a very rich chocolate pudding (Nigella’s Salted Chocolate Tart for reference) for a family lunch I am off to tomorrow and there has been (just!) a bit of spoon and spatula licking!
Desperate for something savoury to counteract the sweetness, I’ve had a little piece of Stilton and like the Very Hungry Caterpillar, feel much better.
If I had to choose between them though - cheese or chocolate and could never have the other again… after much reflection I think it would have to be cheese.
There are so many wonderful cheeses, but then, handmade proper chocolatier origin chocolate?
Hard choice.
Which one would you choose?

I would go for cheese, unless I am tempted by fruit and nut milk chocolate. I don't like dark chocolate, it's too bitter for me.

By the way, best to cut it into small slices, it's very rich.

My grandsons (16 and nearly 15) would dispute that.

Hope they enjoyed it! 😆

It's pretty easy to make, I've done it. It's in her book, Simply Nigella. You have to blitz one of our posters to smithereens. Guess who!?

I think the photo shown by the OP is Nigella's original one in the book, or else OP has the same plates and worktop?

I haven't seen that Nigella recipe, but Delia Smith has a similar one in her book "How to Cheat at Cooking" That has a jar of Fairtrade chocolate truffle sauce, mixed with unsalted butter, creme fraiche and a tablespoon of cognac or dark rum.

M & S used to have the jars of Fairtrade chocolate truffle sauce, but have stopped keeping it, although they have (in the same short wide size and shape of jar - maybe from the same source? ) a Salted Caramel Sauce. I have made it with this and some broken walnuts.

Everyone should own that book. Recipes for delicious things without a lot of work. Hardback with the cover laminated in plastic - as all cookbooks should be

Thanks Elegran. I found my copy of that book, I'd forgotten I even had it.

Cheese all the way for me...a lovely (slightly flowing) Camembert..or.a slice of Emmental. A wedge of Stilton, or a chunk of Damish Blue with water biscuits, crisps, bread sticks or crackers. Lovely! smile

I cannot have either! Cheese - too much fat for someone with heart problems; chocolate - induces migraine.

I will make do with my gruel .......

I dug mine out to look for the chocolate truffle tartlets, then spent an hour turning pages and discovering all her other tasty cheats.
