RNLI fundraiser for 'Flying Farage' hovercraft jumps £5,000 after far-right thugs attack hero volunteers. The total now raised is £336,000.

This social media satirist lives close to me.

He fundraises, for great causes, but in a very “un-pc” politically motivated fashion.

He’s a “normal” dad with young children, and at least one of them is neuro-diversive.

He took to posting in our local area, on social media, after someone shouted at his autistic son in the park, and his popularity just grew and grew.

He uses “political satire”, for want of a better expression, to raise cash via gofundme for good cases.

As the headlines suggest, his latest fundraiser is for an another RNLI hovercraft type rescue boat.

Anyone else know of him?

On fb as ManBehavingDadly and Instagram as Man.Behaving.Dadly

His name is Simon Harris and I think he’s brilliant!

On the matter of Farage’s tweet about prosecuting the RNLI and its staff, there’s always another tweet - this one from 2013 when he was fundraising for the RNLI.

A reminder to people that in 2025 he was investigated by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner after it emerged that he owns a commercial fishing boat that he hadn’t declared on the MPs Register of Interests. It transpired that it’s his son Tom who has the fishing licence.

Now considering all the fuss he’s been making lately about his family’s safety, why would he not want to continue his support for an organisation of volunteers who would, without hesitation, go to his son’s rescue if he was in peril at sea?

I don't understand why Farage doesn't understand that a voluntary organisation that has charitable status CANNOT be politically 'involved'. Which is what he - and a number of Reform supporters expect it to be.

Either the RLNI saves lives regardless, or it doesn't. If it picks and chooses, then it loses its charitable status.

If his party won an election - would he attempt to pass a law banning the RNLI from rescuing migrants - could he? I'm pretty sure if he did, there'd be volunteers refusing to uphold it, or resigning. Then he might have to draft his own rescue operation to encourage volunteers from the Reform electorate, hmm.

The 'solution' has to be legitimate - and it would be better if it was an international endeavour. Because the way things are politically and considering the effects of the ongoing climate changes, migration is definitely going to continue. As, historically, it always has.

Reform are out of control now. It’s senior figures and associates will post anything on social media to stoke rage against people arriving on small boats or indeed anyone with brown skin.

Often the posts are deleted soon afterwards (as was Farage’s about the RNLI) but by that time, it had already been shared many, many times. Job done. Enough to stoke the rage that Danny Thomas had already bated and Zia Yusuf continued to stoke by entering into a dialogue with him.

And then there’s Arron Banks’ blatantly racist post about workers at Heathrow airport - which rather let the cat out of the bag that Reform’s gripe is not only with people arriving on small boats but anyone with brown skin.

As a shield they have their own self-styled “lethal electoral threat”, Zia Yusuf making a blatant racist attack on Holborn by-election candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali for no other reason than that she wasn’t born in the UK. She came to the UK with her parents over 30 years ago, from Somalia, a country at war - just as his parents came to this country over 30 years ago when Sri Lanka was at war.

I’m sick of how Reform are manipulating people, sitting hatred every single day. The sooner the lot of them are arrested, charged, prosecuted and jailed the better.

Well, I'm returning home via an airport soon. I am hoping not to see Mr Arron Banks at the airport.
However, I do hope to see coffee shop workers, cleaners and check in personnel, of any colour, race or creed, to assist me on my journey.

I think the RNLI do some fantastic work saving lives at sea I have every praise for them.but I can see why some people are turning against them because of the migrant problem. I read a post that said why are the migrants on the boats deemed in distress when they cross over onto our side of the channel and need rescuing but not when they are being escourted by the french makes you wonder.

Casdon Fri 11-Sept-26 14:03:07

It doesn’t if you follow the actual news as opposed to social media, because the French rescue migrant boats in distress frequently too.

Oh the irony of Yusaf’s utter hypocrisy.

OldFrill Fri 11-Sept-26 14:54:20

The RNLI should be reimbursed by the government, yes the taxpayers, for their involvement in shadowing and "rescuing" immigrant boats. They are mainly doing the work of Border Control as usually it's a logistical decision that is made to take the immigrants onboard rather than danger to life.

The cost of these operations should be transparent and covered by the state, not charity.

That - right there - is the problem.

Do you not understand that registered charities in the UK are legally forbidden from having a political purpose or aligning with any political ideology. The RNLI cannot choose sides in the debate on immigration policy. Its sole, legally defined charitable purpose is to save lives at sea.

How many times does this have to be pointed out? Volunteers cannot discriminate...

I’m wondering if they have coined a new expletive «I don’t give a Flying Farage» gringrin

StoneofDestiny Fri 11-Sept-26 15:54:20

Those claiming to 'turn against' the RNLI have probably never donated to them anyway.

I'd rather live near a boatload of migrants than live next to one of these new blackshirts or their agitators in Reform.
Morally bankrupt cowards who are no different to Mosley's acolytes in the 1930's - and it took a world war to get rid of them!

And now the arrests have begun, for the Portsmouth protesters.

I’ve come to the very sad conclusion that there are some people in our fine country who’d rather get their facts,(or as some call it, “our truth”), from Facebook, Utube, Tic-Tok and Fred’s brother down the pub, rather than actually bother to actively look at different news and government sites.

Their “excuse”? Oh mainstream media (msm) is all “controlled”, “corrupt” and/or “biased”.

Whatever happened to evidence, proof, rational debate and critical thinking?

Who knows, I’ll just pop down the pub and speak with Fred’s brother, maybe he knows? grin

I would imagine that a lot of the people the RNLI rescue need help not because of a natural disaster but because they’ve done something rather stupid and are putting other people’s lives in danger by rescuing them ( at least that’s the impression I get from watching the tv programme about it). But it’s what they volunteer for and are trained to do. A bit like doctors. They do not question, they just do what any decent human being would do. Round here they mainly have to help people who think they can outrun the tide on the causeway ignoring all of the warning signs telling them not to do so.
