Later a Chinese Take Away , then I will here the local firework display which is sponsored by F1 team Mercedes.
Health OK,

Good morning I can see blue sky from my bedroom window.

A small local shop first thing, then I shall get the ironing finished.

The you geet GC are excited for treat and treating later, the teens seem to have grown out of Halloween 🎃

Thinking of all our poorly morning friends 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a brightening northern coast. My neighbours are back, so ends my cat feeding duties. They take over tomorrow feeding my cat as I’m away. They missed the strong storms here so chose the right time.

DS took ownership of his new motorbike and I didn’t have to go with him as the owner brought it back here for him. He’s so pleased as he made a good deal on it, but I wish it was a car for a variety of reasons. He didn’t stay overnight so I settled down to a cottage pie and the series I’m watching from the 70s.

There are rail works on Sunday, so my DD’s friend is taking me into the city for the train south which is so kind.
Thoughts to all poorlies and lovely photos Bluesapphire

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still , dark morning, cant see yet if it has been raining. Sods law today, I planned to get up and get cracking this morning , but messed it up myself. I usually get up carefully and slowly as my back is often very painful. Today I wanted to get going quickly, but served me right. Trying to move quicker , without a cautious bit at a time, and seeing how things were, and moving various muscles and things carefully, I tried to get moving in a quicker way. That didnt work, as my back then locked up in quite a painful way and I have had to sit and wait for it to loosen up. That will teach me! So here I am, not even up to the normal level of activity. Never mind. I wanted to get going early , so that I could set out early, to get down the market and on to the repair cafe to be one of the earlies there.Well I shall attempt to still do that , but the basic things that I usually do here first will have to wait until later.

Yesterday, what started as a very fraught morning, did improve. It took so long for my son to contact me, but at last some relief when he sent me a message. He said that the doctor had removed quite a lot of the gunge from his ear, but didnt have a general anaesthetic for it. That he has then been put on steroids for three weeks and then has to go back. Of course, if things get worse at all he has to contact them immediately. He has promised to ring me this weekend and so I shall hear more detail then.

I was so uptight and worried about it all , that of course my back and every bit of me was painful and tense and even trying to remember breathing exercises and yoga bits didnt seem to help. Nearly gave up on the plan to go to the exercise class, as the thought of the useless man running it and doing boring things, definitely did not appeal. However I decided that I would at least make the effort to get out, and there mightbe more chance of me relaxing a bit rather than stay here and worry.

Well fortune favours the brave!! A rubbish journey, quite misty, lots of idiots about with no lights on, and the road seemed worse than ever for jolting me about. The promised improvements have not yet started at the library, and so still struggling to get up the flipping ramp, but finally got there about 10 minutes late, and hobbled into the class. Ah ha! The dozy man wasnt there and the lovely Joe was in charge. What a difference! There wasnt a large group as several people had voted with their feet and so had not come thinking that the other man was there. So it was much better organised and he had quite a variety of ideas on games to play with the boca. I hobbled to a seat with arms, to allow me to get up again, and joined in. Throwing boca ball things, was very good for me. I had to either be knocking things out of circles , gaining more for each thing knocked out, or be trying to get close to a particular item, whilst blocking the opponents or knocking them away. So that was just the ticket as I was able to use some of the uptight energy to try to beat the other team, and although I didnt get rid of any pain, it did definitely help to loosen my muscles up a bit. So I was glad that I had gone.

Then when that finished and the others had all left I managed to speak to one of the staff about this light thing on offer. She said that there was a waiting list, nothing available right now, but kindly offered to bring one up for me to look a and read the information about, as they had one ready to send out to someone. I was grateful to her for getting it for me and so was able to sit there in the peaceful reference library, and read the Yorkshire Post while I was waiting, as they had quite a hulaballo going on downstairs, with children making halloween masks and generally having quite a good time, btu rather noisy. So I was able to look at it, and read the instructions and then definitely put my name on the waiting list, and then left the library, physically not much better but mentally quite improved.

One friend that I thought would be there hadnt come and I decided that I would go and check on her, as she had said that she planned to come, but by the time I left the library, it was lunch time and I decided that I would go and get a few bits from Tesco , then go home and then call in the afternoon. As I crossed a car park I suddenly saw a friend I havent seen for ages, and was glad to meet up and we both said we had wondered if we were away or moved as it seemed so long since we had met. So plans abandoned we went to a cafe for a quick coffee and catch up. She only had about half an hour left on her car park time, so we didnt stay too long, but it was lovely to catch up on news and views, and it did quite help me , telling her about my son and the situation right now. So I then finally got home and got something to eat.

I began to tidy up a bit and then thought, no the weather had cleared up to quite a sunny afternoon, and I should make the most of it by going on the yellow peril to see if the lady who didnt come to the boca was ok. So abandoning the tidy up half done, I got ready and out. It was chilly but dry and although it was the wheels rather than my feet, it was nice hearing the scrunching of the autumn leaves. Arrived at her house to see a strange car parked in her drive , and her car missing, so gathered she was out with someone, and so while it was still sunny I went down a little ginnel to see where it ended up, as I had not tried it before. Coming out I wasnt quite sure where I was and going to the end of the road to check the signing met my friend from the library meeting, out walking her dog. So she was on her way home and I carried on with her and visited her house for the first time. Didnt go in but looked round her lovely big garden. It was quite a revelation and she had already done quite a lot of things but had other things planned, and we happily wandered round looking at bits and pieces and she has some lovely mature trees in her garden , including 2 lovely old magnolias . She invited me in, but the time was going by and so I declined but will go another time, and came home to my still half tidied place to sort out. So it had been a very tiring day, but had improved by leaps and bounds from the start of the day.

I was very weary and still creaking about, so didnt feel up to doing much that evening, but watched Gardeners world and before that heard Clare Balding visiting Swaledale on radio 4. I missed a bit of it and so will listen again today. So , counted my blessings and ignoring yet again the pile of ironing went off to bed.

So now , it is shower, get myself dressed in easy to get on and off trousers, and then will go on the yellow peril, collecting a few bits and the Yorkshire Post as I go, to the Repair cafe and try to be there for the start at 10am. I need to take the trousers I want altering, my blue cords to measure against as they are the best length, and anything else I think of, and then I shall be happy to give a donation, have a coffee and maybe a forbidden cake whilst I wait, and if needed I can disappear into their cloakroom to try on the trousers, so that they can measure and sort the hems out one way or another. It is quite a little way outside the town centre and so will give the buggy a run out. As it has been on charge all night it should be fine and today I shall put my big bright yellow jacket on so there is no chance I will not be seen. With yesterdays improving and hopefully get this done today I can hope for a better week next week. Ah well it is daylight now, grey and misty but the wind has just got up more now so hopefully it might blow the mist away. Not a sign of birds or squirrels so expect it is colder today too.

I hope your trip goes well today Mick, your fireworks are quite early arent they? Dont think there are any round here this early. Some on the actual 5th but others on the following weekend . GrandMattie you are having a tough time at the moment and I think people are being thoughtless and selfish leaving so much to you. Why isnt your priest being firmer with people and saying that if they dont make more effort to do things properly and make sure things are cleared away etc, then he will cancel some things? He is not being fair to you, or the willing few who make some effort. I do understand that difficult situation, where you dont want to let people down and spoil their time, but expecting you to constantly sort out the mess is just not right. Perhaps it is time for a sermon on the Good Samaritan and how we all need to make an effort to do our part, might stir a few people up. Karmalady I am interested in fungi and the one you have seen sounds interesting. I love looking round at this time of year to see what comes up, but am very cautious and dont tend to pick any, just admiring the interesting surprising fungi that just seem to arrive in a morning. RosesandLilac, lovely to hear you are getting back to your own patterns and being able to choose to do things you are enjoying. Blue Sapphire, you are making my feet itch! Lovely to see more places and I have never been to sicily. Another place to add to my list to want to visit. Time I was making a move. Hope everyone has a good day and for those involved in Halloween do's that there are lots of scary costumes etc and the children enjoy themselves. Keep safe and warm , and hope you all meet a friend today too

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry with a lovely pink and orange sky. I've now lost 2 posts, so here's hoping this one stays! GrandMattie you will wear yourself out if you don't slow down. Susan I like the sound of that activity with your dgc. Marzipan I love everything Halloween. I like a good scare.
Yesterday was very quiet. I pottered about house and did some housework. I sorted out bags for any wee guisers tonight. Tesco delivered and I assembled a salad for dinner.
Today I will meet my friend for breakfast which I am looking forward to. Then home to finish housework. Dd will bring the boys round later, all dressed up and I anticipate other wee people will call too. Have a good day all.

Morning from a cloudy S Hants, 8, I’ll wave tomorrow Sar.
Friend here for coffee yesterday, washing mostly dried outside, new library books and a Tesco delivery.
MrJ is in a bowls competition this afternoon.
Well done Melanie that was tough.
Hope the poorlies improve today and we all have a smile 😊

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is just light. I came to bed early last night and slept but had a night of weird dreams! Must have been the cheese and crackers!

I did an early shop yesterday and then went and had a much needed haircut. I then set to and made a chicken curry from scratch which I always find quite satisfying. We will eat it this evening when DD and the menfolk come over. Today will be spent cleaning and at some point I’ll walk down to the supermarket for a few bits and pieces to go with the curry.

I don’t know if we’ll get any trick or treaters. They were out in force last year but I had to go out at the last minute so missed them all.

Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s a chilly 6 degrees , slightly misty but I can see blue sky above the mist. I had my usual walk in lovely sunshine yesterday morning then went to bingo in the village hall. Good fun, a chance to catch up with friends and won a small cash prize! What’s not to like!
DD1 and family arrived home safely from their holiday, i hope to see them over the weekend, but they will be busy getting ready for work and school on Monday and may not have time to come over.

grandmattie the Duracell bunny has nothing on you, you are so busy! I hope you have a more restful week next week.

marzipan I hope you are able to relax in your Premier Inn and enjoy the change of scenery. Hopefully your new bus pass will arrive soon so you can resume your journeys around Cornwall. I don’t like Halloween either, my granddaughters fine it hard to believe we didn’t celebrate Halloween when I was young!
Thank you for the beautiful photos bluesapphire and enjoy your day at sea.

I hope marydoll has been able to leave the holding pen and is now receiving proper care in the cardiology ward.

Best wishes to all who are feeling poorly.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s very foggy! Was surprised to see it so. 12°C is our forecast.

L’il Miss came for a sleepover and we slept well last night. I’ve got TiB now and she is on my iPad playing a game with soft music background - designing a house apparently.

Strictly this evening next door but two which is enjoyable for us both. No interruptions by ‘trick or treaters’ this evening in apartment life!

Susan56 Sat 31-Oct-26 07:22:39

Good morning from Shropshire.A very foggy start.

We took the children to a craft session at the library yesterday. It was based on repairing and up cycling clothes. They each made a bag out of an old T-shirt and some little patches. They were the only two children there which was a shame as it was a really good session run by Veolia. The upside was they had the lovely lady leading the session all to themselves.

Today DH and I are going for a drive to Ludlow. We will visit a NT property on the way for lunch. The autumn colours are beautiful at the moment so should be a nice drive.

I hope Marydoll is finally on the cardiology ward and that madeleine has had better news from her son.

Thinking of our absent good morning friends and hope to see you back soon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🎃👻

Good morning from somewhere in the English channel.
Our cruise ships was due to dock in Cherbourg today but has been advised not to, due to protests in France today.
We've had a brilliant week away and will reach Southampton and disembark early tomorrow.
Sending my best wishes to everyone xx

Melanie61 Sat 31-Oct-26 07:15:54

Good morning from Sheffield
I’ve finally finished my full-time work stint,my legs are throbbing from standing up all day every day for the past 2 1/2 weeks .
Hubby has healed fantastically. The pain has disappeared and the wound has healed brilliantly. The other hand will be done in three months.

I’m on my second tea in bed with the gorgeous cockatoo beside me. Now I need to catch up on all the household items that haven’t been done.
I really quite enjoyed it as I do love my job but back to part time for me now .

I have been reading everyone’s news, just felt as though I have nothing to contribute as all I’ve been doing is working and sleeping .

GrandMattie , I do hope you find somebody to help you, trouble is you come to resent doing things when it should be a pleasure to volunteer .
Marydoll , Hopefully you are getting the treatment you need, and that they can refine your treatment so you feel better when you get home.
Madeleine, did you sort out the problem with your car and the fine that you were being incorrectly charged for?

and take care everyone flowers

I ordered another bus pass immediately HelterSkelter as I had no idea where it went astray because I travel so widely and could have dropped it anywhere between Plymouth and Penzance. It cost £11.25 to replace but that's not bad for seven years' free travel! Hopefully the one you found will be reunited with its owner.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 31-Oct-26 07:01:02

luluaugust your post reminds me of the wall of fog I would often meet suddenly on the stretch of road in mid Kent between the M20 (I think) and the M2. Very very scary. And the foghorns by the seaside.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:57:15

Marzipan22 I found a senior bus pass on the bench at the bus stop round the corner yesterday morning...not yours sadly...
I wondered how the owner got on the bus without it, but maybe they had just got off and sat down. I didn't recognise the photo nor the name.
Like you they will be lost without it. I posted it to the county council bus pass office. Hope they post it back and dont charge the owner for the replacement. Did you have to pay an admin charge?

Marzipan22 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:54:39

I envy, weirdly, your Avenging Angel karmalady. I love fungi and have always wanted to see that deadly but beautiful toadstool in real life.

Marzipan22 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:50:51

Good morning from a Premier Inn where I'm staying for two nights while my carpets dry completely. Yesterday I went to have the carcinoma on my neck cut out and the surgeon, ready in his scrubs, looked quite disappointed when he found that it had shrunk and only needed 'burning off'. So that's that.

Somehow I've lost my bus pass - my lifeline! - so am limiting jaunts until the new one arrives. Today I'll just walk to a corner shop and spend most of the day reading Bella Poldark, the last of the Poldark books.

I hate Halloween and its ghoulishness so will be glad when that's over.

gM it sounds like you have a need to go at full pelt. 🌼 🌸

luluaugust Sat 31-Oct-26 06:48:39

Good morning from a misty Kent, very thick this morning.
A quiet day today of shopping, curry and Strictly
Goodness gM it does all sound very busy take care
Best wishes

BlueSapphire Sat 31-Oct-26 06:43:29

GrannySomerset, was interested to read that you were about to discuss "Cahokia Jazz"; our book group read it last year, and it got a mixed review.
I found it difficult to get into, but about a third of the way through I found myself enjoying it.
The concept was quite weird, with a society arranged completely differently from ours. Hope you had a good discussion about it!

HelterSkelter1 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:33:08

Trouble is grandMattie if you "plug on till you collapse" then everything will stop and no one will be happy least of all you.

Can you advertise within the church for a young mum to help you.... and learn from you. So someone to take up the reins when you need to take time out. Some one who has not gone back to work and has a child or children at nursery or school and can spare some time. Does the church have a playgroup with mums attending?

I am sure you know yourself you are doing far too much and will make yourself ill for the sake of making others "happy".

People will let you do that as long as you carry on. People are quick to praise and slow to help. And they now expect you to carry on to do everything until you drop. And your life outside the church is anything but quiet and relaxed.

karmalady Sat 31-Oct-26 06:28:45

I did love Sicily Bluesapphire we went to a restaurant and the men sitting in there looked scary and wore mafia-type suits and trilby hats. Your photos and descriptions are uplifting and lovely

BlueSapphire Sat 31-Oct-26 06:23:02

Good morning everyone from a calm morning in the Med, on our way from Italy to Spain.

Had a lovely warm and sunny day yesterday in Sicily, with a coach tour of the area, and a visit to an ancient mountain-top village, where it was distinctly cooler; but I did find a warm sunny spot to enjoy a glass of wine!

Today I hope to catch up on reading on deck, have lunch in the fish restaurant, and go to ballet class this afternoon

Some pictures from yesterday in Sicily.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

RosesandLilac Sat 31-Oct-26 06:10:16

grandMattie

*r&l*,I don’t know either. Just plug on until I collapse. Trouble is, that if I don’t do it, things don’t get done… in this case, it’s for a dementia charity - both my parents were demented, so I feel I must help.

Bless you grandMattie, your generosity and dedication is truly amazing, I just hope everyone appreciates you 🤗
