Socks for Christmas

My 2 adult sons always get socks in their stockings along with their shower gel, Toblerone and chocolate orange and deicer spray for and air fresh their cars. One likes the padded feet ones and the other the larger size size but thinner socks. They always joke Mum keeps us smelling nice even in our cars.

My DD asked Father Christmas for a lampshade.

My 4 year old grandson said he wanted some wind up false teeth!

I do socks as a 'little something' but have now decided that they are a token gesture that is unnecessary. Another sensible decision! It's the first time of giving nothing that's the most difficult then it becomes the norm. Sigh of relief!

I usually buy my dad socks from M & S (he's a size 13 and they do bigger sizes). One year I didn't buy them and few months later I had a comment from my mum that dad had ran out of socks and had moaned about the ones she bought. I get him socks every Christmas now, lol.

I actually asked for socks once - never think to buy them for myself. Son in law bought me some lovely soft bamboo ones.
Socks of some description - usually bamboo - always go in the stockings - not Christmas ones, though. I do like the idea of luxury cashmere or special wool socks, but not if they can't go in a normal washing machine cycle - they'd be no use to dds now.

I would love to recieve a hand made pair of real wool socks as a gift. One of the ladies at my knitting group makes these for her family every year and they are a thing of beauty. The colour and design of the wool she uses, the skill she has aquired over the years must make them a gift to treasure. She also crochets the most beautiful hats scarves and gloves tooo. She is a German lady and she told me she has been crafting since the age of three.Her grandmother taught her and she has just got the most amazing talent.

I always used to put socks, pants, pens, pads of lined paper in my teenage offsprings’ Christmas Stockings. When I tried to be different they complained and said they relied on them.

I, not IN!

A few years ago IN gave my granddaughter and her brother a pad and pen each, asked them to write down what they`d like Father Christmas to bring them. Jenny grabbed the Argos catalogue, and consequently filled 2 whole pages. Mitchell wrote down 3 items.

My grandson has said that he would like some cardboard boxes for Christmas so that he can build a robot.

Socks are great these days. You get such wonderful designs on them. They're easy to wrap too.

Always put socks in AC stockings - though they are now “designer” ?????

I used to always get my boys some socks at Christmas. When they got older and financially independent I decided they really didn't need me buying them socks each year, so I stopped.

Well, there was uproar and I had, apparently, ruined Christmas! They relied on me keeping their wardrobes stocked up with socks, on account of their lives being far too busy to go sock shopping themselves, so the tradition of socks at Christmas had to be reinstated! That's fine, really, as socks are easy to buy!

Bless him, he must be easily pleased. My 4yr old GD said she wants a yo-yo and a toy ant!
