It’s almost Christmas! I absolutely love Christmas. I love the food, the presents, the music, the lights, the time spent with family... I am, to quote a teenaged relative, “buzzing”, I think that means very excited. Six days and countingtchsmile

I enjoy C————s but for goodness sake it’s only October !

t'is indeed the most magical time of the year.

Nights drawing in
Crunchy leaves and a chill in the evening air
Winter stews and steamed puddings
Buying presents
Receiving cards
Booking panto and theatre tickets
Stocking up on treats
Rooting out the old white net stockings edged in red crepe paper.
Seeing family all together
Arguments about decorations
Filling diary with 'things to do'.

Joyeux Nöel ??

It goes back to childhood, it was peripatetic, rarely 2 consecutive Christmases in the same house or even country, but my father, who also loved Christmas, ensured that no matter where we were Christmas day was always the same, Christmas meant continuity and stability and the family all being together.

Except the year, known as 'The year we didn't have Christmas', but that is another story.

M0nica - why?

TerriBull Mon 16-Sept-19 20:09:25

Oh I see it was an old thread from December last year, why has it been resurrected in September confused

TerriBull Mon 16-Sept-19 20:06:19

Oh Good God hmm I'd have to go back to age 8 or 9 for Christmas excitement and then it only got going in December. The weather outside, even if the leaves are on the turn, tells me it's still summer. Christmas can do one!

M0nica Mon 16-Sept-19 19:59:42

Yes

MawB Mon 16-Sept-19 19:58:41

No

Fiachna50 Mon 16-Sept-19 19:53:22

It's September, why on earth are we talking about Christmas?

GabriellaG54 Mon 16-Sept-19 19:51:17

A year later and oh yesssss...looking forward to all the jollity and splurging, as per usual. ????☃️?

traditional celebration in Australasia
We call it "Christmas in July"! The time of year when restaurant prices sky-rocket. sad Fortunately, it's also my birthday in July, so it's a joint celebration! Cheers!

It's nearly time for Mid-Winter Christmas here, a traditional celebration in Australasia and I'm looking around for a nice restaurant for a whoopee of a celebration. roastchicken wine party

crazyH Fri 07-Jun-19 23:44:49

NamanModi Tue 05-Feb-19 12:14:42

Happy Christmas to Everyone. Enjoy this Christmas with family members.

Gonegirl Mon 04-Feb-19 18:49:22

And I'm not going to buy two calendars, having completely forgotten where I put the first one. Anyone want a Flower Fairies calendar? BNWT. ?

Wheniwasyourage Mon 04-Feb-19 18:10:23

But this year, I am going to buy little things to put in family presents when I see them, and not forget where I have put them. I am not going to lose the cards I have left over. I am going to be so organised that the whole thing is going to be great fun and not stressful at all.

Oh look, was that a pig which just flew past?

EllanVannin Mon 04-Feb-19 17:57:09

And mine but a figleaf of my imagination.

Gonegirl Mon 04-Feb-19 16:18:11

Very glad for you DLWheeler. Mine is now a vague memory.

M0nica Mon 04-Feb-19 14:15:31

Thank goodness it is only an affirmation that last christmas was good.

I though this was an early post for next Christmas confused
