Thinking about booking a cottage for next Christmas

We had a holiday in Oxfordshire this year for the 1 st time ever. We hadn't been away for Christmas since 1983. We did this because we live in the Lakes and are retired and therefore have plenty of time. One son works in Oxford and had 25th and 26 th off only. Another son lives in London and had 27th and 28 th off work. Another son works in Dundee and had 4 days off. Anyway we all met in Oxfordshire and it worked well. Lovely cottage on working farm. Beautiful countryside. Local church for midnight mass. Christmas lunch largely courtesy of M and S. Dog came too. All happy!

I only booked it 4-5 weeks before Christmas

Some friends spent Christmas in a cottage in the Forest of Dean. They loved having walks without needing to drive anywhere.

That sounds great momb.

We rented a cottage in the depths of the Devon countryside last Christmas with my daughter and SIL, all of us wanted a break that would mean peace and quiet. Nearest big town was Kingsbridge.

The owners arranged that the cottage was decorated complete with tree! We had a Tesco delivery for food, I was amazed the driver found us.

One of the villages nearby holds a nativity event each year where the entire village participates in the dress up! We didn't go although we wanted to, we decided not to drive out at night on the tiny lanes and so abandoned the idea.

We had a really idyllic break there. Lovely pubs and friendly locals.

Sounds a lovely idea.

All sounds positive as does the Tesco delivery
