My bread sauce just made twitter!!

Every Christmas I make enough bread sauce for my daughter to take some for her and her guests. Every christmas she visits...swaps gifts then forgets to take it.
Every Christmas my husband chases her down the road with bread sauce. This year was no different

I'm ashamed to say I usually do bread sauce out of a packet! If you get the most superior one you can buy, and use less milk than it says - then add a bit of cream (or even creme fraiche) and some butter. Its almost as good as home made but a lot less bother (just remember to throw the packet away so that no one knows you haven't made it from scratch.!!)

I have to confess, I've never been brave enough to taste it! My first encounter with bread sauce was at an Aunts house one Christmas many years ago. To a 5 year old it looked revolting and the opinion has stayed with me. However, I'm sure it tastes nice to those who like it but, sorry, it's not for me!

My son took my late mothers bread sauce recipe to the USA in 2006 and has made it every year since.

Mind was very funny but tasted amazing

I always have to make extra for my daughter to take home, now my granddaughter wants it too ?

I made some and put it in a tub for DD2. She didn't want a full dinner (works in a pub/restaurant and cooked 270 Christmas dinners) but did want the trimmings. She stood in my kitchen, dipping pigs in blankets and sausage meat into the bread sauce. She announced herself satisfied and was going home to bed.
