Having lived in casual clothes since March, I want to put some glad rags on on Christmas day. I have a lovely pair of silver crushed velvet trousers, a sparkly top and some pretty earrings which will be just the job. It is only my Partner and myself this Year but I want to make the effort. How about you whether you are on your own, with a Partner, family or friends will you wear something a little dressy?

i have a pretty red and black kaftan which I shall wear with my best leggings. As the temperature here well probably be in the high 30’s dressing up too much is not really an option.

Just me.
My daughter will FaceTime with her husband and the granddaughters and so will my son and his girlfriend. I will dress up with hair done and makeup because I don’t want them to feel that lm sad being alone. I’ll do it for them and as soon as I have made my appearances l’ll change and resort back to my comfy clothes and relax. I will still cook a Christmas dinner for myself because it’s a need to still have a sense of occasion. This will be my first Christmas without my mum and I will be thinking of her.

Oh yessss! I'm partying into the bargain.

Juicylucy Mon 14-Dec-20 11:05:51

Yes I’ve also always made an effort on Christmas Day and will wear something with sparkles on.

we have had a couple of visits to Warners this year and I've loved the opportunity to dress up and I will on Christmas day too. DH will be cooking so I don't expect him to make a sartorial effort

Will deffo dress up. I will be in the company of my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. I have sparkly jumpers to wear with black velvety trousers - one for Christmas Day and the other for Boxing Day. I will also take my Christmas Tree top, - (green and has ruffles down the front). I don't have Christmas jewellery, but if I did then this year I would wear it. I will bling up with what I have got. We will respect the rules, but defy Covid and Brexit as best we can using some glam, bling and our best party clothes.

Yes!! This will be the first Christmas we have had on our own in a decade. I am sad that’s mil won’t be able to join us this year, but I intend to make the most of it

I have a new dress that I plan to wear. The effect will probably be spoiled by a thick cardi, furry slippers and my pinny...

It will be leggings and one of my 3 Christmas t-shirts (can't wear jumpers as house is always so hot). Hopefully it will be with the family but if not then need to make the effort for the video calls otherwise I probably wouldn't bother.

Of course I will dress up on Christmas Day, just as I have throughout this pandemic. I have put on my makeup every day, and made sure my hair look presentable. Why lower standards which will only make the lockdown, etc, even more depressing.

Theoddbird Mon 14-Dec-20 10:32:09

I wear dresses all summer. Now it is winter I am in baggy cotton dungarees with cashmere jumpers all the time. Christmas day will be just me and I plan on getting a hardly worn onesie out to wear. It is black and covered in pink roses. Just me and plan a comfortable easy going day. Enjoy your day x

Yes, I think I will be making an effort, having lived in joggers, slippers and a t-shirt or fleece since March it will make a nice change. There will just be the two of us this year. I've got to the stage where I don't like opening my wardrobe as nothing in there is getting worn. Due to illness I have lost weight so at least something nice will fit - every cloud!!

WishIwasyounger Mon 14-Dec-20 10:22:07

I'll be on my own again this Christmas, but I like to make an effort to make it special. It'll be one of my few dresses with sparkly tights. Ear rings would be nice if I can find them. Not sure what the cat will wear though.

Alone but will wear a dress or skirt n top to be DIFFERENT.
I am worth it and if daughter and partner see me on web I will have done myself proud.
Chinese food in freezer and nibbles ready for the day to eat whenever I feel like some and a bottle of plonk too!

Several years ago I bought a nice black top with a sparkly silver design in a charity shop. It was about £3.50 and dresses up black trousers nicely. Also it won't be a disaster if I pour turkey gravy down it one day! wink

MissAdventure Mon 14-Dec-20 00:52:50

I might treat myself and wear my hearing aids!

Probably will wear either my xmas jumper from last year. Bright red with a green sparkly tree on the front. Or I may decide to wear something a bit smarter a lovely black and gold top with black trousers. Depends on my mood on the day.

Teebles64 Sun 13-Dec-20 22:35:28

Definitely will dress up. Haven't decided which outfit yet but definitely something sparkly to cook the Turkey in. My mum always said that standards must be maintained no matter what the circumstances and would never be seen without makeup and nail polish. She was a Hyacinth Bouquet character so we will do our best to keep up appearances.

Would like to wear earrings but haven't worn any since March so don't know if I will be able to get them in

I hadn’t even thought about that! shock Luckily, I managed to remember where I moved the jewellery box to in my lockdown sort out and I’m now sitting here wearing leggings, comfy old jumper and some elegant dangly earbobs. I had to use a bit of force, so I’m glad I didn’t leave it any longer.

Mollygo Sun 13-Dec-20 11:43:43

I bought each of us a festive jumper last year so it will have a second airing. I’ve got black velvet trousers and sparkly snowflake earrings. It will be nice to dress up. Except for work days this year I’ve lived in joggers and teeshirts.

Ailidh Sun 13-Dec-20 11:34:16

Definitely!

A dress, which marks a High Day in itself, so not the usual daily garb of jeans and woolly socks.

Always do wear make up and earrings.

There's only me and the dog. He probably won't wear the make up and earrings but will have a sparkly new collar. ??

henetha Sun 13-Dec-20 10:46:15

Last Christmas I bought my first Christmas jumper ever.
It's black with a large holly sprig on the front in red and green sequins and I love it. So I'll wear it again this Christmas.

Callistemon Sun 13-Dec-20 10:30:36

Would like to wear earrings but haven't worn any since March so don't know if I will be able to get them in
Dip the post in a little Savlon or other mildly medicated cream first. I've kept huggie sleepers in for that reason, Lizbethann.

I don't know what I'm going to wear though!
