A festive hello to all gransnetters!
As everyone else seems to already have their fairy lights twinkling and baubles out, we thought it’s time for us to do the same. So welcome everyone to our annual Gransnet Christmas Party. As health has been top of most of our agendas this year, we’re thrilled that Ensure NutriVigor is sponsoring this year’s festivities.
Not only that but they are giving one lucky gransnetter on this thread a £100 voucher to spend at a shop of their choice to start the new year in style (usual competition T&Cs apply). The winner will be picked at random from all who comment on this thread by 11am on 1st January 2021, so don’t forget to pop on and wish your fellow GNers a merry Christmas!
It’s fair to say 2020 has been a bit of a shocker, and we know that because of health concerns, long distances, or many other reasons, plenty of you will be spending Christmas on your own. Which is where the Gransnet Virtual Christmas Party comes in. No need to battle the ghastly traffic, icy weather or smile through the sprouts. Simply don your sparkliest finery, pour a glass of your favourite tipple and come join us for some good company, virtual mince pies and questionable taste in Christmas decor - we do gaudy very well here at HQ.
Everyone is welcome (as long as you bring something tasty to add to our virtual buffet) and even if you’ve got a busy day planned do pop in and wish your fellow gransnetters a Merry Christmas.
In the meantime shall we get into the spirit with some really cheesy Christmas jokes? Who’s first?

Hope you all had enjoyed Christmas. At this time of year I always like to look forward to holidays, but who knows when we will be able to plan anything. Meantime, I am dreaming of a return to Barra, where the plane from Glasgow lands on the beach. The islands are calling me.

I hope you have all had a good day. I am really fortunate that my husband cooked a wonderful Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. The best is yet to come tomorrow cold turkey -brilliant.
Here's hoping that the vaccine comes soon and we can return to a more normal way of life in 2021.
happy xmas and a better new year for everyone
I hope that you have all had as happy a day as possible given the dark time we are living through. Bless you all.
Forgot to say,
Flopsy is on the left.
To all the children’s entertainers, male and female who can no longer go into hospitals, old people’s homes,
factories, birthday, and family celebrations, schools, hotel celebrations and other celebrations at Christmas to bring laughter and enjoyment to others during this Christmas, my heart and sympathy goes out to you.
My heart goes out to you.
Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for all the jokes had me in stitches with laughter. xx
Happy Christmas everyone, my feet are up and the chocolates are down! The day is drawing to a close and I can reflect on it now.
Despite everything it has been a good day for the two of us, with so much to be grateful for - safety, warmth, shelter, food, even sunshine and blue skies. Our hearts go out to the poor folks escaping from flooding and all the misery involved.
Our street organised a socially distanced meet-and-greet at 5pm, with the specific aim of chapping the doors and windows of those who live alone, so they knew that they were included in the day, even though no one could go into their home. It was a great success even though we all know that it will be considerably more difficult to do this from tomorrow as we go into tier 4 (Scotland). It helped us face it cheerfully - much needed.
So I give you all the gift of a generous share of our cheerfulness, as much as you need for as long as you wish.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. Looking forward for more smiles in 2021 with all of you Gransnetters. Hopefully there will be plenty and we will finally get to the end of this horrible pandemic. Stay safe everyone.x
Happy Christmas to some of the most sensible and kindest people on social media - what I love about this site is that if there are nasty comments, the poster is soon shot down by others. Please carry on being strong, tolerant and kind Grans/Grandmas/Nannas/ and every other lovely relative. May 2021 be a wonderful year for all of us, being able to see all our loved ones that we have all missed so much xx
What cheese do you hide a horse with?
Mascarpone
Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas all.
I've given in and gone to bed. Absolutely shattered after days of shopping, wrapping, more shopping, prep, cooking and cleaning. Have a wonderful evening - feel free to share my alcohol units amongst yourselves. (Dont say I never give you anything) I've wanted my calories for the day or I’d share those too.
So this time last year we were blissfully unaware of the horrors of 2020. Forearmed is forewarned. Never take anything for granted and be thankful for what you have. Merry Christmas everyone. Be safe, be happy, be kind and all the best for 2021
