A festive hello to all gransnetters!
As everyone else seems to already have their fairy lights twinkling and baubles out, we thought it’s time for us to do the same. So welcome everyone to our annual Gransnet Christmas Party. As health has been top of most of our agendas this year, we’re thrilled that Ensure NutriVigor is sponsoring this year’s festivities.
Not only that but they are giving one lucky gransnetter on this thread a £100 voucher to spend at a shop of their choice to start the new year in style (usual competition T&Cs apply). The winner will be picked at random from all who comment on this thread by 11am on 1st January 2021, so don’t forget to pop on and wish your fellow GNers a merry Christmas!
It’s fair to say 2020 has been a bit of a shocker, and we know that because of health concerns, long distances, or many other reasons, plenty of you will be spending Christmas on your own. Which is where the Gransnet Virtual Christmas Party comes in. No need to battle the ghastly traffic, icy weather or smile through the sprouts. Simply don your sparkliest finery, pour a glass of your favourite tipple and come join us for some good company, virtual mince pies and questionable taste in Christmas decor - we do gaudy very well here at HQ.
Everyone is welcome (as long as you bring something tasty to add to our virtual buffet) and even if you’ve got a busy day planned do pop in and wish your fellow gransnetters a Merry Christmas.
In the meantime shall we get into the spirit with some really cheesy Christmas jokes? Who’s first?
Wishing all at gransnet a peaceful Christmas and hope 2021 is filled with joy.
One for all those bakers at the party -
Q.What’s the best thing to put in a Christmas cake?
A. Your teeth ?
Thank you Gransnet for this cheery thread which has me smiling in spite of myself.

Hi, I’m new to Gransnet and have enjoyed reading the posts each day. Wishing you all a happy Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.
A couple were in bed and the wife said I was dreaming I was in Tesco's, the husband said I was dreaming I was in bed with two beautiful women, she said "was I there?" he said "no, you were at Tesco's".
What does Santa teach at the helpers’ school?
The elfer- bet
Merry Christmas everyone
Having Moroccan Spiced Harissa Chicken today for a change! still having Xmas pud though.
I've just had an amazing Christmas present. My son and his wife are 6 weeks pregnant. Early days I know. So whilst I am here sharing my news I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe Christmas. Lots of love to all my fellow GN.s xx
Merry Christmas everyone ? thank you all for keeping me informed and entertained throughout this difficult year.
Echoing happy thoughts for all. I saw a ray of sunshine this morning. No kidding! Hope for all for sure.
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you're having a wonderful time despite everything! I also hope that 2021 brings lots of luck, happiness and good health to you all.
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all have a lovely day.
Wishing all Gransnetters a peaceful Christmas and a much better New Year.
Happy Christmas! Please help yourselves to one of these crisps. Yes, I'm ruining my appetite before dinner. At least I've had some exercise by giving my Sugar Plum Fairy in the kitchen while better half listens to The Nutcracker!?????
happy Christmas to everyone, just come back from a great walk in the park with the dog and all her doggie friends, we were drinking champagne and all of us laughing and watching the dogs running around, my idea of heaven, have to pull myself together now to cook the turkey, thank you gransnet for keeping me sane especially this year
Another lurker here just wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and healthy new year. I have posted very little but read every day so wanted to thank you all for your companionship in this very strange year. My party offering is Buck’s Fizz and mulled wine (hic!). Just waiting for my DS and GSs (is that right for grandsons?!) to come though from the ‘big house’ - we are in the ground floor penthouse as we call the granny annexe and we are hosting them this afternoon and evening as my DIL has just set off for work - nurse on a Covid ward, short staffed so missing the boys but doing a very valuable job all the same. Enjoy whatever Christmas is or means to you, look forward to joining in more next year xx
Happy Christmas everyone! I am spending my first ever Christmas alone (well, me and the dog) but it is how it is so I can either be miserable or embrace it - and I have chosen to embrace it. I've tried to make the whole month special, and then yesterday I spent the day watching Christmas films and eating chocolate!
So far today we've been for a lovely (if cold) Christmas morning stroll and I was given a frozen Christmas dinner a few weeks ago so in a bit that'll be lunch - microwaved Christmas Dinner isn't quite the same(!) and missing all the bells and whistles, but it's better than nothing!
I find myself in possession of 1.2kg of Christmas Pudding
so that's my contribution!
I used to be good at jokes but forgotten a lot of them - I always liked this one as I love flying (think Mrs Brown when you read, it's not really rude).
An old RAF squadron leader was invited into a class to tell children about his exploits during the war...
"Yes children, we were flying along when out of the sky came 3 Fokkers - the teacher interjected - "Yes children Fokkers were a type of German aircraft". "That's right Ma'm" said the squadron leader "but these 3 Fokkers were Messerschmidts. "
Hope you are all having a good a Christmas as you can. I'm following the well known film "Home Alone" but sadly have no family left and my only Aunt is 3 hours away so can't visit. Luckily I have some good friends and have spoken to one and emailed others. Wondering whether to go for a (very) quick walk to get some fresh air as it's forecast bad tomorrow.
Take Care and let's hope the New Year is better for all of us.
Oh yes i forgot- im bringing cocktails to dinner for after!?
What's santa's nationality?- North Polish..Merry christmas Everyone- I'm off to do rest of lunch!????x
