I have been given a box of chocolates for Christmas, and have been sampling them this afternoon?.

They are what one would describe as modern flavours. Whilst delicious I have decided that I really prefer the more traditional flavours.

Terry's 1767 were the Rolls Royce of chocolates! Lovely quality chocolate, beautifully presented. And not a drop of greasy palm oil in sight. Bleurgh.

Oh yes dark chocolate

I always look for the orange cream first in a box of chocs!

But rose & violet in dark chocolate are my absolute favourites.

If I get given any you can share, I don’t like chocolate!

Ferreros are my absolute favourite.

Terry's 1767 chocs were luxurious in the 50's/ 60's. In a box with little drawers that could be used to keep nik-naks in when empty.

Oh yes I remember the drawers

I go for the marzipan ones too.
Where are all the lovely liquid centred ones these days ? They're all fondant centres. Horrible.
Remember the lime barrels that used to be in a box of chocolates, along with the orange and strawberry liquid centres ?

My favourite boxes of chocolates were Terry's Spartan; all hard centres in a plain, dark chocolate. Don't think they do them any more? A lot of chocolate is made with palm oil these days and is just horrible; I'd rather do without. I've bought a huge box of Moser Roth chocolatesfor sharing at Christmas not a chance

I love Lily O`Briens Dessert collection. Each one tastes like a dessert, perfect for me as I like something sweet to finish a meal.

I am on a life long quest for a perfume that smells of marzipan...

Chewbacca Sat 19-Dec-20 15:21:25

Marzipan I would kill for.

Sorry Whitewave but you'll have to get past me for the marzipan. They're mine!

Reminds me of a chocolate subscription I gave DD. She tasted one. “Mmm”, she said, then something that sounded like “semen”! I was horrified, then split my sides laughing. I had mis-heard “cinnamon”. ???

Gawd, you're not a fan of violet creams and other old lady flavours? grin

I rather like the newer stuff - my local chocolatier, Rococo, have flavours such as basil, ginger, earl grey, and cardamom.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 19-Dec-20 14:34:23

Truffles, various flavoured fondant creams, chocolate covered nuts, chocolate covered crystallised ginger, they are what I like.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Dec-20 14:28:13

Felice tchenvy bleurgh!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 19-Dec-20 14:28:01

Marzipan I would kill for.
