I’m full of admiration for the D of C playing the piano. I thought she was fantastic. I know it wasn’t the hardest of pieces and that it was pre-recorded, but I thought she did so well. Speaking as one who’s struggling to get up the grades, I know how difficult it is and how nerves can destroy a performance that seems so secure in the safety of your own home. Well done Kate!

Thank goodness this thread has got back on track after the myriad (to me totally incomprehensible) diversions via xenophobia, chips in Scotland (we never had”sauce”in the Borders - it was “salt and vinegar” with our haggis suppers) politics, morals, flouncing and inevitably Meghan!

Phew!

I think what people find endearing about Kate is her readiness to have a go at the most ordinary things in public, and the tinkling of the ivories was a good example. It didn't need to be a polished concert pianist's performance, just a sincere heartfelt interpretation.
Whether Kate's is seen baking a cake, designing a garden, playing sports, teaching kids to sketch etc she always appears to be down to earth and practical. Her confidence playing the piano was serene and she looked happily engaged.

Lucca Well said. Also would like to add to that, Alegrias1 - your brilliant sense of humour --Even if I am on your Naughty List--

Thank you

You won't shame me Annie. The s*** I put up with on here is unbelievable. I have to counter people criticising my country, my morals, my politics and god knows what else.

I will avoid your posts from now on. I won't answer you or comment on your posts. So please carry on as before. I've got a long list of people I avoid. It just got one name longer.

A long list of people you avoid! I expect everyone will be wondering if they're on your blacklist now. ?

The OP stated that Scotland is different in all ways from England. That clearly isn’t true. Both countries speak the same main language, use the same currency, shop in broadly the same shops, drive on the same side of the road and have the same passport.

I've just looked at the OP and it doesn't mention Scotland at all
confused

I am quite disgusted with this thread, has anyone reported the xenophobic posts or will I have to? hmm

Alegrias, I like your posts. People have Pm shit stiff too but not recently, I wondered if GN had stopped it! grin

I know where my wedding was announced Cal.

I have no idea what that means, sorry.
Was it anything to do with piano playing?

nadateturbe Sun 26-Dec-21 22:33:38

Not a monarchist but I think Kate comes across as a really nice person.
I wish people would leave Diana alone. She's dead and can't defend herself. And it's so unkind to say things like "dancing to get attention".

Lucca Sun 26-Dec-21 22:31:53

No reason or need to leave Anniebach , more people agree with you than disagree.

No reason for alegrias1 to leave either in spite of the really un pleasant bit of ganging up on this thread. Alegrias1 has a lot of knowledge to share which I personally appreciate. She also sticks to her beliefs and views to which she is entitled.

She also said she would not criticise Kate for playing the
Piano in public,( good on her)and nor would I, but I’m not “lost in admiration”

If you managed to chase off a valued contributor just because she doesn’t follow a certain line then I think that’s a poor show.

In the words of the song Zoejory, I only speak the truth...

The truth as you see it.

Which may not be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
It could be a lie or merely an opinion.

I know where my wedding was announced Cal. I also know the difference between a fact and an opinion. And a lie.

But anyway, your mission is accomplished ladies.

See you down the road. Unless I can avoid it. Which I sincerely hope I can.

Pantglas2 Sun 26-Dec-21 22:08:29

I wonder if Carole Middleton regrets giving her daughter piano lessons?

How sad that people feel the need to denigrate someone’s efforts to make a difference via charitable events.

Shame on you.

lemon you surely know how many have been driven off this
forum, how we could discuss politics, republicanism, without the nastiness we now read. I find it hard seeing posters being
mocked for their opinions. And yes get upset when I receive PM’s telling me they can’t take anymore . There are so few left. So many big egos now who have a need to be Queen bee.

Well said , Annie

SueDonim Sun 26-Dec-21 21:39:49

We each speak our own truth, nowadays.

Calistemon Sun 26-Dec-21 21:30:23

Anniebach take no notice.
It seems to be the raison d'être for some, a little fun by those who don't care how hurtful and distressing it might be for others.

It has changed and got worse lately.
Is it Covid?

Alegrias.....everyone is out of step but you?

Don’t leave GN Annie but I understand completely what you mean.

Don't you go anywhere, Anniebach

Unlike some I do not post every hour of every day as some people seem to.

Your posts are just as valuable and far more pleasant than most

I'm sure some people will tire of their boring nonsense sooner or later

Citing the Buchanie means you lose the game, sorry. Its a bit like Godwins Law. ? My engagement and wedding announcements were in the Buchanie. ?

You do talk some rubbish, Alegrias

Constantly feeding your need is not my only option, I need
GransNet, I owe GransNet for saving my life but that was then ,
my options are putting up with your constant sarcasm, which is a game for you, or leaving, the second is definitely more tempting now, so many really nice posters have been driven off.
